Buxom Full-Bodied Lip Gloss Review & Swatches
Buxom Full-Bodied Lip Gloss ($19) is a newly launched gloss for Fall 2012 from the brand available in ten shades.
At a glance you’ll probably be reminded of Wonder Glass, Hard Candy Glossaholic, and Flirt Big Flirt Lipgloss as these resemble the chubby little tubes that those glosses came in.
Let’s take a look!
Although shorter in size than your standard Buxom Gloss these have a chubbier look but the same amount of gloss inside at 0.15 oz however, they are a dollar more in price.
I can’t honestly say how these differ from other glosses in the Buxom Collection. Granted some finishes are sparkly and others cream but all of them basically offer the same plumping effect.
Although I will say that Buxom Full-Bodied Lip Gloss does have a excellent pigmentation.
Bare Escentuals markets them as a moisturizing and a plumping formula that have time-released, encapsulated hyaluronic spheres, which promote constant hydration and fullness. Through the entire wear you will experience a good deal of moisture but this doesn’t come in a shiny or gloss formula. I dunno why but I typically associate moisture with shine is that odd? They don’t have a high shine finish but more of a sheen. The gloss is a thinner consistency without any sticky feel or finish. They sit comfortably atop lips offering a “hugging” effect that wraps lips in moisture, kinda of like a cushion. I want to say they have this cross texture of a balm and a gloss combined but that probably doesn’t make much sense but that’s the feeling I get when I wear them. Throughout the wear they remain fairly hydrating and appear as fresh an hour or two into wear as they did upon original application. Wear time is surprisingly strong at around three to four hours for something that doesn’t have any tack to it.

Four out of the five shades I tried all had excellent pigment and produced full color coverage on first swipe with better intensity after building. These are in fact the most pigmented glosses from the Buxom line up. The glosses have a foam-like sponge applicator that works beautifully to get a smoother layer of color on lips. The gloss also has a faint vanilla taste that quickly disappears after application.
I noticed a few reader’s calling them liquid lipstick but I’m not really getting that since they have more of a shine to them than you’d get from a liquid lipstick and the formula is considerably lighter as well. Perhaps a bit of a hybrid liquid lipstick come gloss.
Overall, if you already adore and love the Buxom line of glosses you’re sure to adore the Full-Bodied Lip Gloss formula. Pigmentation is a big draw here as well as a great moisturizing formula that wears comfortably on lips for hours. The dollar extra per gloss might just be worth it thanks to the full color payoff each gloss I tried out had.
