Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator Review

Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator might seem familiar to you. That’s because I reviewed Dr. Jart All Out Black Head Remover a year or two ago.

Kinda the same concept here.

I’m willing to try ANYTHING to get the stubborn blackheads to stop vacationing on the tip of my nose. Nothing works. Nose strips, gels, treatments…short of burning them off or removing my nose, I think they are here to stay.

Let’s see if the Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator did the trick!

Dr. Jart Black Label Detox Pore Penetrator is either going to work very well for you or not. I happen to fall into the not.

This is a one-step treatment that reduces black heads and dissolves debris while controlling excess oil. I find it interesting they say it controls oil because it’s REALLY emollient and leaves my skin quite shiny after use, kinda like I just applied Argan Oil.

It’s formulated to reduce the appearance of blackheads while tightening pores and removing dead skin cells. It’s a peeling style gel with thick consistency.

They market this as being a delicate peel however, I do experience a little warming up and tingling when I apply it so just be aware when using it on sensitive skin.

I don’t have clogged pores or blackheads around my face which is one reason it isn’t quite a product that I’ll make proper use of. Sadly, the ones on my nose that I really wanted to attack didn’t take kindly to this. Or just doesn’t work for deeply embedded blackheads.

On the other hand it should clear out smaller issues and clogged pores if you have them however, that’s just speculation on my part as I don’t have these problems.

I find the entire experience rather like a facial. The thicker gel has an emoillent almost oily texture that really hydrates my dry skin and the warm tingle is rather pleasant. You’ll want to apply it and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before “rubbing” or massaging it off with your fingers. After, rinse with cool water. Done.

If you’ve never tried a peeling gel it’s simply a matter of the gel congealing somewhat and rolling off in tiny balls as you massage.

After use my skin feels smoother and quite soft but the blackheads on my nose are still hanging ten.

Sigh.

Back to the drawing board.

I’d give it a try if you have larger pores that need a little detoxing, it just make work for you!

You should try Mario Badescus Silver Powder if you haven’t already. It’s AWESOME at removing blackheads!

    • the Muse

agreed, it’s a great product Amiee I reviewed it a few years ago on here ;D!

  • Stacie

Ugh. I have the same problem. I use the Bliss clog dissolving milk and it makes them better, but they definitely don’t go away. I’m thinking the only way I’m going to get rid of them is just by cutting off my nose. It’s SO frustrating!

    • the Muse

lol stacie, let’s not get crazy, I’ve considered it haha!

have you tried the gelatin method for blackheads? i have stubborn blackheads too and it works for me

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

I’ve heard a lot about these peeling gels–I just think it may be a little TOO gentle for my acne-prone skin. Interesting concept though–I’m sure it’s great for those with ultra sensitive skin

Do you use an extractor to remove black heads? I find its the only way to completely remove them. That being said, the Clarisonic should also do the same when used regularly. I have also found that a microfibre glove from Missha does quite a good job at keeping black heads away until my weekly extraction as well as removing makeup residue and dirt from the day.

    • the Muse

no jen, I’m a little scared to do so. I have them do when I have my monthly facial. I’d honestly like to be able to do it myself though. I use Clarisonic in the AM and PM but they are sitting enjoying vacay time on the tip of my nose ;-D hmm will look into the Missha glove, thanks..!

You know what I do, Muse? The absolute only thing that works and doesn’t leave scarring is to take a cotton pad or gauze such as DHC’s, open it up a bit and squeeze gently. It works better than lotions, potions, strips, extractors, anything. I’ve had no scarring and am always amazed at the amount of crud I get out. I noticed when I’ve had facials that sometimes they will use a combination of an extractor and the gauze/cotton pad method. Your nose will be gleaming afterward, and not from grease!

PS – the extractor always seems to work best on whiteheads, at least for me.

taryn, I typically leave it to the experts when I have a facial, I’d be SO scared to try it myself!

First of all. TGIF! TGIF! TGIF!!! Gosh I don’t know what I want to do more, be lazy and nap all day or go shopping and do something fun lol.

I’m right there with you, I am having horrible blackheads this summer. I don’t know if it’s cause of wearing long wear foundations or like sweat idk but it’s horrible lol. Have you tried the kiehls rare earth mask? It works wonders for me. I use it once a week followed by a strong peel off mask (shills or seikisho) and my face will look blackhead free for the week. I think the kiehls like acts as a vacuum and brings the blackheads to the surface so the peel off mask can get em super easily.

THANK you! TGIF! ;-D Happy Weekend gorgeous! 🙂 It’s a little rainy here and after all my running around this week it’s going to be super low key for me. Gaming night on Saturday, dinner out, a little batman, and prob vegging if it continues to rain ;-D I need to catch up on a teen wolf and awkward ;D

interesting! I have not! I’ll check that out thanks lovie! I use silver powder which helps A LOT! But still pesky blackheads on my nose! GRR!

Hey Muse, I used to have stubborn blackheads on my nose too and the only thing that helped to get rid of them completely has been Paula’s choice 2% BHA liquid…..just thought of letting you know 🙂

    • the Muse

thanks harshleen! I’ve been waiting to try Paula’s Choice products for a while ;-D maybe this is a good excuse to order!

  • christmas

are you sure they are blackheads? There is something called Sebaceous Filaments that I totally thought were super stubborn blackheads on my nose, but it turned out they were just those… unfortunately I couldn’t do anything about them :<

    • the Muse

yup, because they come out just fine with an extraction christmas ;-D

  • Tiffany Martin

Sad that this is such a disappointment, I have the same problem Muse. Just on my nose! WTF?

  • Cali

Blackheads are the bane of my existence. Since its hot and super humid here, I tend to steam my face once a week, apply a clay mask (right now, its my cheapie favorite Mint Julep) then apply a pore strip immediately after rinsing the mask. The steaming/mask bring more up to the surface, so I get more payoff with the strip. Skincare is work, darn it. We should get paid for this.

    • the Muse

thanks grace, I did. already reported it to their host a while ago, waiting for a reply…such a PTIA :-/

  • ivette

Have u tried placing your head under a towel and over a pot of steaming water and a few bags of tea? It will declog pores and all kinds of junk.

  • Yuu

As for blackheads, have you tried rinsing your nose with rice water? A lot of people use rice water for it’s whitening effects, but I use it for helping clear up blackheads. As it doesn’t get rid of all blackheads, it does make a noticeable difference (but be aware, rinsing your face with rice water is super drying and you must moisturize after). After I’m done with my skin routine, I gently press down on my open pores to remove excess dirt too… I hope this might help you?
