Dr. Jart Firming Sleeping Mask Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

As you know the Dr. Jart collection at Sephora has some brand new skincare products that have launched for Summer/Fall 2012. One of those products is the new Dr. Jart + Firming Sleeping Mask ($48).

I’ve tried MANY Asian sleeping packs in my day and I have to say many are overrated and don’t do very much for my skin.

I’ve never actually tried any from Dr. Jart so I went into this with an open mind knowing how well Dr. Jart’s products have always worked for me.

Let’s take a look!

Dr. Jart Firming Sleeping Mask is an overnight treatment mask which aids skin cell turn over supposedly. It promises active ingredients that absorb easily into skin that deliver moisture while restoring elasticity and boosting collagen.

It also promises to transform dry, dull skin overnight resulting in cell renewal and a smoother skin texture.

That’s a whole lot of fantastic there.

It contains Niacinamide and Kava to increase the collagen barrier which improves elascity. It also contains, my personal fav, hyaluronic acid for added hydration and also for retaining moisture.

After serum and moisturizer you can apply a thin layer prior to sleeping at night and rinse in the AM with lukewarm water. I typically save it for 10 minutes prior to bedding down. It’s a gel-like consistency which absorbs easily and has an herbal scent. I do feel a slight tingle and warming after application but this quickly subsides.

After a week of use my skin both looks and feels softer and smoother. I also wake up with a brighter complexion and dullness is eased considerably. It puts a bit of a glow back into my skin. I can’t say how well it is doing in the anti-aging department as my skin is still very good on my face outside of finer lines on my eyes.

Overall, it proves one of the better sleeping masks I’ve had the pleasure of using. After using it for two weeks I was surprised how easily it became part of my nightly regime as I typically don’t like to use anything else after I’ve applied my moisturizer. Simply put, I like the way my face looks and feels on the next day after use. I’m unsure how long term the results are here but as of now my face is considerably softer than it was going into my testing.

I was a little meh on the price as this is considerably cheaper in Korea however, having to not deal with airmail is a blessing as I can simply go to Sephora and pick it up when I run low.

Would I buy it again?

Yes.

I like it.

I have hopes it’ll have long term benefits as well.

Available now at Sephora and Sephora.com

I have a sleeping mask from Etude House which I don’t use much because to me I feel like it interferes with my nightly regime! Are you supposed to put sleeping masks onto clean, product-free skin? If I can layer it over other products, like you seem to have, I will definitely start using the mask again!

    • the Muse

depends on the sleeping mask violet as some suggest using it on clean, bare skin. This one can be layered.

Ooh sparkles! 😉 Are you a fan of the Dr. Jart black label BB cream? I forget if I’ve seen a review from my trusted Muse about it.

    • the Muse

yes very much hapa, not sure if I reviewed on here? will have to check back if not will get a review up 😀

I second this!! I’ve been using the water fuse which I love, but as soon as summer is over I’m thinking of going to the black label. And if possible, could you compare if the one available at sephora is different from the original from korea? thanks so much!!

      • HapaGirl

Thanks girl! I’m hoping to take advantage of a SaSa sale here in My’sa, seems to be a good price for the Korean version.

        • the Muse

my pleasure!!!!!!! brilliant! def less $$$ in Korea, damn shame we don’t get those prices here!

I’ve been reading a lot about sleeping masks lately. I had never considered one before, but I’m really curious now!

LOL LOL I had to a double take on the price I thought you said $148 and at the end you say it’s a little meh price? I’m thinking oh dear muse has lost her marbles but it was me who needs a new prescription. Thank you for the good review. We have similar skin types except I’m beacoup sensitive and like my tan. I might give this a whirl when I’m done with another night time treatment I’m using.

    • the Muse

lol melissa noooo $48! 🙂 It was quite good, which treatment are you using at the moment?

An overnight mask is not for me. I don’t like the feel of having too much on my face at night. Makes me afraid to move or turn on my side… I do put moisturizer on after I cleanse, though, and I use a local treatment. But still, a mask is not for me. Good to hear it works so well though!

Do you know where we could find it online for a cheaper price? I wouldn’t mind getting the Korean version!

  • Sudeki

I’m using dr jart’s aqua sleeping mask and it’s really wonderful. I don’t use it everyday as I always forgot. The one I have is really hyderating. There’s another really good sleeping mask which is really cheap but also really good, TCM herbal masks, you get 20g for just one buck, and it’s whiting!

What about the fact that it has methyparaben? Those chemicals are terrible, even in small doses. I am sad as I thought this could to the trick. Any sleeping mask suggestions that are more natural without all those toxins?
