L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Gleaming Bronze Review & Swatches

I’m wearing L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Gleaming Bronze today. It was part of the L’Oreal Summer 2012 Collection and could or couldn’t be LE?

Hard to say really as these special displays really never say if a shade or product is limited edition. How irritating right?

As you know from my numerous rants I do have a little bit of a love/hate relationship with these eyeshadows but the formula is such a hit or miss that I feel this absolute need to collect them all.

Let’s see if you need Gleaming Bronze.

Yes! Yes! Get it.

I feel like some of the newer shades L’Oreal has been launching have been considerably more vibrant than the original colors that released. Gleaming Bronze is EVERYTHING I wanted Golden Sage to be.

The name is a little misleading, bronze? It’s actually a golden olive green. This is exactly the formula I had hopes for with the original colors as well. It’s not cakey, has a smooth finish, with a nice metallic edge that’s not too shimmery and not too frosty.

My main issues with Infallible Eyeshadow is the fact they look cakey and have way too much frost. Gleaming Bronze does not suffer these problems. The metallic-ness is gorgeous here and not over done with chunks of glitter plus there is zero frost which is such a relief as I tend to run far and fast from such a finish.

Overall, Gleaming Bronze is a keeper and I’ve considered a possible back up of this one. It’s a gorgeous shade that compliments brown eyes wonderfully well.

I highly suggest grabbing it as I fear it’ll be gone soon!

Available now at drugstores.

Did you haul this one?

Loved it?

Do share!

I purchased this item.

I didn’t purchase this one or any other new ones. I actually love them but I hate using my fingers for eye makeup. This one does look beautiful though!

  • kimkats

Hey, Muse – would this be dark enough to use as a liner? Or maybe swatched over a brown liner to give it some oomph? It looks gorgeous!!!

  • Cindy

Oh I absolutely love love love this shade! I went to three different CVS stores looking for this shade. When I finally found it I was so excited one of the girls working at CVS asked “I guess we have what you’re looking for?”. This color is so yummy I use it all the time. I hate the fact that this was a LE summer color!!

    • the Muse

cindy it really is gorg isn’t it? glad you found it. I’ve been considering a back up!!!!!!!! it’s just lovely ;D!

    Hi Muse,

I believe this is a permanent shade in other countries. I got mine from Canada around Christmas time, and I swear it’s the same color even though it’s called Bronze Goddess (I think. I’ll have to check at home). I played with both colours and they look pretty darn the same to me!

    • the Muse

I think you’re right christina. unfortunately I think it is le for us damn! 🙁

  • Kiss & Make-up

Oh wow that is a beautiful color! Looks a lot like a color eyeshadow I have called Olive Garden.

    Hi muse welcome back!

I was wondering if you already made a review of the Pepsi Coral and Magnetic Coral shades? I’ve just seen them in drugstore shelves here in Canada this week.

    Tnx a lot!

    • the Muse

yup vic, I already did magnetic coral, sadly haven’t got my hands on pepsy coral yet.

  • Cassie

OOOO when I first read the name of this I was thinking “oh great, another bronze shadow…” but then I saw it… and FELL IN LOVE. What a gorgeous olive green!! And the perfect amount of sparkle!!! Adding to my list of “needs”…

Ooooh *PRETTY*!!! I just got Golden Emerald last week! I told myself after purchasing 8 of the original Infallibles and never using them again after reviewing them that I wouldn’t buy anymore no matter what…that didn’t last long. I’m so happy I did though, because Golden Emerald is STUNNING. And so is Gleaming Bronze, from the look of it. I didn’t realize it was a pretty olive green otherwise I would have FOR SURE grabbed it up! (I am such a sucker for olive/khaki on the eyes!)

I have this and its one of my favorites. Thanks for the tip on using a sponge applicator, I’ll have to give that a try 🙂

    • the Muse

hope it works for you deb ;-D the sponge applicators really are a god sent imho!

  • Tiffany Martin

WOW! This eyeshadow is terrific on you. Goes with those brown eyes and looks outstanding.

  • Gabby

Looks great on you Muse :)! I looove this color! It was actually the only one of the LE collection I couldn’t find when they came out and I was super bummed about it. But when the six new colors came out and I went to pick those up, I also searched a few different Walmart/CVS/Target/Ulta displays and I actually managed to find TWO that had been hidden in behind other shades! I’m so glad to have a backup because I adore the bronze/gold/olive-y green with my brown eyes 🙂

    • the Muse

yay gabby so you found it right? glad ;D! it’s a killer shade!

  • HapaGirl

Ugh, gorgeous on you! I have this and have yet to play around with it yet, although I do love the pink sapphire shade that I picked up because of your review. 🙂 welcome back, where ya been? I’ve been creepily stalking Musings with the hope that you’ll have some new posts. Glad to see you are still alive! 🙂

    • the Muse

hey hapa! sorry for the delayed reply! I’m so glad you got pink sapphire, it’s such a lovely shade! def do break this out, it’s gorg! I was at comic con so I was gone a few days no new posts 😀 hehe I love you for stalking me though <3!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still love she said...! hehe!

  • TerriB

Hi. I have an NYX Golden Dune shadow that I’m thinking was one of your recs. If so, is this one similar but different enough to buy?

  • Harshleen@BeautyTidbits

Gorgeous shade it is!! Looks really pretty on you Muse….

  • Paula

Oh, thank god I already have this color – which I love. (works well with red hair!) Because if I hadn’t, your fabulous reviews would make me want to rush out and see this for myself! (magnetic coral coughcoughcough)

    • the Muse

it’s a great shade paula…:) magnetic coral is too, I reviewed it several weeks ago ;D!

  • Aging_Beauty

LOVE these shades on you – eyes, lips, cheeks! I think I might need that shade……..

  • Kerry Lauder

I love this color, but alas, I cannot find it here. But, I love these shades! Bottomless Java is another good one, a shimmery (not glittery) bronze brown.I have lots of these too, lol

  • Elizabeth

I got this one and I LOVE it!! I have fair skin, blue eyes and it has become my summer favorite along with the warm pink that came out with it (I bought a backup of that one). I wear the two together without eyeliner and it has such a fresh summer look to it. I never wear the same eyeshadow two times in one week so the fact that this is my 5 days a week look so far says a lot. Well, it WAS my go-to summer look until I got the Chanel Riviere shadow last week! 😛
