Lotree BB Primer Tinted Control Base Review & Swatches

Lotree is one of (of many) Korea’s more visually pleasing brands as I like to call them. This is a brand that really pays close attention to it’s packaging and wraps things up in a royal purple and silver gorgeousness that simply reeks elegance.

My experience with the brand hasn’t always been pleasant. The packaging is a little misleading as how can anything wrapped in purple and silver prove awful? But indeed, like many Korea brands the fancy packaging doesn’t always lead to a superior formula.

However, there’s been a product or two that’s popped up at me and became a keeper.

Lotree BB Primer Tinted Control Base SPF 21 is one such product.

Take a look!

Lotree Primer Tinted Control Base acts as a primer, sunscreen, and whitening agent all in one. They do toss around “BB” in the name but this isn’t a full foundation product, base, or bb cream by any means. It’s simply a glorified primer with a few perks. The perks consist of the hydrating formula that acts as a moisturizer of sorts and the SPF. Sadly, I find the SPF a little lacking at merely 21.

Being a rather big lover of one Jadilla J’s long gone whitening BB Creams I find that this primer produces the same effect if you’re looking to whiten skin temporarily.

Granted, not everyone cares to whiten skin so I don’t recommend it if that’s not the effect you’re seeking. However, those will dull skin looking to brighten things up and create a more even skin tone will enjoy this.

It’s a gray almost lilac shade which absorbs easily into the skin. The formula is much like a BB Cream in the fact that it’s very rich and creamy so it acts as a moisturizer as well as a primer. I apply very little since it’s quite pigmented and leaves behind a white cast on skin. Plus I find it’s a heavier product so adding a foundation or BB Cream on top is a little overly done. A small amount goes a long way at brightening skin up, providing a bit of hydration, and prepping skin for makeup.

Since it’s far too scary to use on its own I do suggest using foundation/bb cream on top. It provides an excellent base for these products as it produces a soft focus effect which eases dullness, whitens skin, and creates a brighter overall appearance. My skin is duller so I do crave something that can ease this and give it a fresher look. This takes care of that issue very nicely.

As I mentioned above, I don’t necessarily recommend it for those who aren’t keen on lilac/gray based BB Creams as it does leave a white cast on skin. However, those who are familiar with whitening bases like this will enjoy it immensely particularly since it can bring skin tone down a shade or two when used correctly if that’s the effect you are going for.

Sasa.com used to sell Lotree, not sure if they do anymore but this should be easy enough to locate on other online shops as well as Evil-bay.

Anyone try anything from Lotree?

I have no desire to be white I love my tan at the moment. However, I have tried a Lotree BB cream. I think I used the whole tube or stashed it cuz I can’t find it now. It was a really nice classic bb cream but it didn’t make me break out which a lot of the Asian brands do.

I am pale and I like to be pale so I generally use this by itself.
