MAC Heavenly Creature Mineralize Eye Shadow in Magnetic Attraction Review & Swatches

The new love of my eyeshadow life comes in the form of MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Magnetic Attraction.

So delicious!

Swirls of gold, orange, and cranberry create a fiery coral on lids that’s ideal for Summer.

Loves it.

Magnetic Attraction is actually the only shadow I got from the Heavenly Creature launch. I haven’t technically gotten to a counter yet to peep the shades but this was one of the few colors that I found appealing.

Although I love the shade I think the formula isn’t without issue.

I typically enjoy the MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow formula but lately it’s been a bit meh for me. I have little patience for the fall out and inconsistency in the finish. Sometimes these are terribly frosty, sometimes they contain a bit too much chunky glitter, etc…

Magnetic Attraction was fairly good overall. It wasn’t great mind you but better than I’ve run into with this formula in the past.

Visually all of the Heavenly Creature powder products are incredible. I’ve always been terribly charmed by MAC’s Mineralize launches but I think they out did themselves with this launch because the powders are just captivating. The colors are so incredibly vibrant and the swirls and design of the powders are stunning. They really do look like little planets!

I think the shades are a little deceiving in pan as they don’t translate as deep or as rich in color pay off once applied. Magnetic Attraction is an example of this. It swatches quite richly but on eyes it comes across considerably sheerer but there’s still plenty of color to get happy about here. I do think the formula applies on the crummy side though since fall out is an issue but thankfully no chunky sparkle or frost. I apply with a sponge to get the best build up of color and the smoothest finish.

Magnetic Attraction is made up of swirls of orange, gold, and cranberry (although MAC calls it pink it quite looks like cranberry to me). The shades have no real definition and combine to create a fiery coral on my lids and that’s quite alright by me as I love corals at the moment.

Overall, Magnetic Attraction isn’t without fault but the color is very pretty upon application and lends a lovely shade of coral to lids for the Summer months.

Likes it a lot!

Worthy of a purchase.

Did you grab it?

I’m waiting to get my order in the mail from Macy’s today!

  • Cindy

Oh, this one is particularly beautiful to look at. I just love those swirls!

  • Sarah S.

Ooooh, Muse! Thank you for showing it on eyes! I find the arm swatches on all the blogs to be consistent but I can see that it looks a lot lighter on the eyes now, which is useful to know.

    • the Muse

my pleasure chica ;D! I think it’s very pretty but sheerer on than in the pan!

I got this one and Neo Nebula. Your review pretty much sums up my thoughts. I was going to get about three more shadows, but after living with these two for over a week, I am getting no more of the shadows. I adore the MSFs I got.
And i do at least think magnetic attraction is the better of the shadows. If foiled, it stands out for me.
And it looks a lot better on you than on me. I like how you applied it.

While these were stellar ( ha! I crack myself up. Lol) in the pan, they didn’t do it for me on the eye.
I have this let down for all MES, except for the In the Groove shadows.

Heck, I think there are several Laura Gellar’s mineral shadows more worthy.

Oh well. I will get my kicks from staring at it in the pan.

hey jody! I don’t they think are really worth it. They price is a little too much $$ and they have a sheerer finish overall :-/ they are gorgeous visually but the formula is meh meh. depends really. Indeed, I agree, foiled it looks even better…! thanks appreciate that 😀 I know I shouldn’t go all peach with the look but I love how it looks! LOL I’m easily amused, laughing at stellar ;-D

      le sigh oh well!

I got this shadow, Earthly, and Water. I’ve only worn Water so far, and I’m disappointed in the pigmentation and, while I like the olive green shade, I don’t like that it looks so flat on my eyes. I also bought a mini Fix+ with the shadows, so I’m going to play with them this weekend and decide then if I’m going to return them. So far I’m leaning towards return them and never purchase an MES again.

Now the cremesheens released with this collection? In. Love.

kb understand your dislike…I noticed the same with magnetic attraction, I recommend a sponge applicator, it builds color much better so the shades come across more intense, with a brush they end up look very very sheer.

  • Tiffany Martin

Muse, this color looks so pretty with your shade of eye color! WOW!

  • JCz

If you let your eyes blur a bit, the e/s in the pan looks like a delicious cinnamon bun!

I can’t wait to get my order in the mail. I could not wait to receive the volcanic ash expholiator, so I went out and bought another one yesturday. I used it last night and I swear it is lovely. Muse, you look beautiful and your skin is amazing. Happy day to all.

it’s gorgeous stuff carrie! enjoy! one of my fav mac skincare products ;-D aw thank you <3!

  • K.B.

Just wanted to follow up with you – I L-O-V-E the Magnetic Attraction shadow, but I’m going to return Water and Earthly because even Fix+ couldn’t help them. I’m planning on picking up sponge applicators, but a flat shader brush will work for now. The next time MAC comes out with mineralize eyeshadows, I’ll check them out in store. lol

  • Nelleeees

I ve been seeing you for 2 years on google images and I ve noticed Whatever you wear on your face, I have the impression you have the same color everu single pictures. You really should change camera. It s just a piece of advice 😉

    • the Muse

sorry Nelleees, I’m not a great photographer I fear plus I leave in an older Victorian home and it’s difficult to get good lighting down.

    • jody

I don’t have the same impression of her pics Nelleees. I think the pictures are great. It helps to see her pics of her wearing the products she is reviewing.

      Maybe it is your monitor?

      • the Muse

aw thanks jody I’m so glad you think so. Girl I am so not great with a camera 😀 I really try hard to capture images the best I can but sometimes they aren’t fabulous! I appreciate both of your feedback! ;-D xoxo!
