Pixi Illuminating Tint & Conceal Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Pixi Illuminating Tint & Conceal ($30) is a new multi-purpose highlighter come concealer for Summer 2012.

Packaging wise this kinda reminded me of the new Tarte Maracuja Blush & Glow doesn’t it?

Let’s take a look!

As cute as Pixi Illuminating Tint & Conceal is they killed it for me with a too high price tag and too much highlighter.

I don’t mind dishing out money for good quality cosmetics but I was a little overwhelmed by the near $30 price tag for this duo. Shave off $10-$15 dollars and you might garner more interest in this one particularly for those who really want to check out the concealer which boasts a very nice SPF 20.

The rarity here is definitely the concealer formula as so many brands lack SPF in their concealer products. It’s delightful to run across a high level of protection in a concealer. Unfortunately the concealer is the smaller of the duo here and is housed in the lid of the tube. It’s a dome shaped, soft creamy concealer with sheer to medium coverage. I find it fits the under eye area nicely and blurs and conceals the appearance dark circles, fine lines, etc…quite nicely. Although creamy it does go a little dry for me so I do have to prep well prior to application however, if you prefer a drier formula especially if you have oily eyes, you’ll enjoy this.

My main issue with the product is the rather large tube of highlighter it comes with. I don’t typically use cream highlighters or powder for that matter as they make my face look even more fuller. I like the general idea of having both products in one place but…on the other hand I find it odd pairing the two. Why a highlighter and a concealer? Why not a prep for concealer? It’s an odd couple.

Swatched: No 2 Bare Glow

You might find some use for the Pixi Illuminating Tint & Conceal if you’re one that uses cream highlighters daily. I personally felt the product was a little too expensive and paired up a little too much highlighter with too little amount of concealer. As for me, I’d probably be more inclined to indulge in a tube of concealer from Pixi for $30 and perhaps a little cream highlighter in the lid instead! But as is, it just seems to pricey!

Sadly, not a go for this concealer junkie.

Pixi is sold at Target and Target.com

What do you think of this little duo?

I thought it was supposed to be an illuminating tinted moisturizer…no? Or is it just that shimmery? haha
Either way, guess I won’t be looking into it anymore since I can get something better for $30, like Benefit’s how to look the best at everything palette (:

all over luminizer, but I wouldn’t use it all over your face, way overkill ;-D

The first thing I thought of what the Tarte Maracuja thing too! As for this Pixi concealer/highlight duo, I am so surprised it costs that much. Isn’t Pixi a drugstore brand?

    • the Muse

yeah quite look the same. No, it’s sold at Target but it isn’t a drugstore brand.

it’s a all on one luminizer but it’s way to much for all over face imho.

    Whao!$30?Isn’t that a price for high-street makeup?
If you want a medium-coverage creamy concealer,I really like Revlon photo-ready concealer,it comes in a lipstick-like-tube and you get wayyyyy more product that this pixi one. And I think it’s around $8?I’m not sure but it’s under $10 (:

this is a shimmery mess amanda best suited as a highlighter. If you used it all over your face you’ll be glowing 🙂 def best used to highlight certain areas but not ALL over the face. see other comments for an explanation.
