Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner ($18) is a launch of none new creamy, waterproof eye pencils for Fall 2012.

These promise a long-wearing eyeliner in a creamy formula that promise an eight hour budge-proof, smudge-proof wear in a variety of shades.

Let’s take a look!

I love these.

But I’m a little scared to recommend these to those with oily lids. On my drier eyes the formula has has a smooth as butter glide with a long wear that doesn’t fade or crease however, they are so crazy creamy that they might be a little much for those with oily skin.

The formula is so creamy that they pretty much beat out some of my favorite liners like Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner and MAC Technakohl. They have an even, skip proof glide across my lash line and smudge out easily and flawless for a smokier finish and thanks to the handy smudger on the opposite end of the pencil you don’t even need a separate tool to achieve the look.

Perfect Moss, Perfect Espresso, and Perfect Navy

Perfect Moss

Perfect Espresso

Perfect Navy

Right out of the box the formula has a lusciously creamy texture with a nice deep pigmentation on each color I swatched. The shades almost look like liquid liner on eyes. The thing I really loved was how consistent the formula was across the board on all shades. So many times you run across a great eyeliner formula but as you go through the color selection the formula seems to suffer a little bit. In this case, I tried basic shades like brown which almost always come across amazing but even more obscure shades like green and navy proved just as incredible.

Wear time will vary from skin type to skin type but on my drier skin I saw all day, into the night wear (eight to twelve hours) without any fading issues, smudging, or flaking. The liner looks as fresh on my eyes at hour five as it did when I originally applied it.

Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner is one of the creamiest liners I’ve run across in my makeup life. The formula has the look and feel of a liquid with the ease and application of a pencil. I did have one minor issue, no sharpener bah! I wish they hid a tiny one under the smudge cap.

I liked these a lot.

A little unsure how they’ll fair on oily lids but I’m a happy camper.

I’ll be hauling more shades for sure.

Loving them hard.

    Whoa! Perfect espresso looks incredible!

Actually, looking at all the shades, all 3 shades are uniques, rich and amazing looking. And they are a reasonable price.

  • Pippa

I’m in dire need of a waterproof eyeliner for holiday, mainly for when I’ll be swimming – what would you suggest? 🙂 x

  • Misato-san

I’ve got Perfect Peacock and oily lids… with my favourite primer (TFSI) I’ve got no issues at all. XD

  • TK

I have the black and purple shades of this eyeliner. It’s my favorite eyeliner of all time! I like that these even wore well on my waterline. I want to get them all honestly!

  • Alanna

ooohhhhh that MOSS! LOVE! I also need a new dark brown liner like hella bad so I’m so trying these despite my oily lids.

  • Stephanie

I have Black Orchid and I’m obsessed with it! They are super creamy like you said, though, and I do find myself needing to sharpen more often than some of my other eyeliners.

    • the Muse

I ran into that too stephanie, prob should have mentioned that, they run down fast but they are SO creamy! do you have dry or oily lids? curious how they are on oily lids!

  • Phyrra

I love these liners. The Perfect Peacock is beautiful. I really like the new Navy shade you have.

  • Caitlin

Moss is a fantastic muted green. I’m kind of an addict for those. However, I do have very oily lids, so I will probably still pass…or at least wait until I can’t bear it anymore.

  • Fran

Muse, I love these! I have perfect espresso and perfect black orchid. I have oily eyelids and these stay put for 10 hours. I prime my lids with Laura Mercier eye basics prior to applying. Creamy, rich, vivid colors, long-lasting…I’m so glad they have new colors!

    • the Muse

oh that is so GREAT to hear Fran! I wasn’t sure how such a creamy formula would set on oily lids! Yay! aren’t they amazing? I think they are better than UD24/7!

      • Fran

Yep, they’re better than UD. I go through perfect eyes faster than UD 24/7 though, due to the creamy consistency.

  • Cj

Uhh Muse I think your missing something on this post… you know the Muse Approved button 😛

No really these are beyond amazing! I have black, brown, espresso, peacock, navy, and storm.
They are freaking awesome! Way way way better than UD’s! These actually stay on your waterline!!! And I love the little smudger too! Hurry up and release more colors Too Faced!

    • the Muse

I was so tempted to slap an approval on ’em cj but I was worried they wouldn’t work great for oily lids ;-D so was a little wary of clicking that rec button ;D! they are really really fabulous! I agree! The glide is way nicer than UD. They need some brighter shades though, that would make them perfect! I think the fact that all the shades have a consistent formula and are all creamy is what really makes them awesome. Too many times I run across a great standard black but other shades end up having a drier formula but not these, all the shades rocked!

      • Cj

Yeah that makes sense, I don’t have oily lids either so I can’t help you there. I know! They need like a white or really light flesh tone, they’d be perfect for waterline. And maybe a pink 😉

        • Majick

CJ – see if you can find Tarte emphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener – best I’ve found for inner bottom to brighten.

STILA – liquid white eyeliner – EXCELLENT! but not for the inner rim, it’s just really cool and I couldn’t resist it LOL.

  • kimkats

Oh fark – Moss is simply gorgeous! I am a complete fool for green and purple eyeliners – I have no idea why, but I am compelled to get each and eery one I see! 😀

Thanks for the swatches – I must have Moss!!

  • Majick

I have this in Perfect Black ORchid. Since I got it at the Too Faced event at Ulta back when they were promoting the summer eye palette I never even looked at the whole name.

I really love this pencil and will def get more colors after seeing your swatches and knowing that they are consistant. The black orchid ROCKS!
