Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Halloweenies 2012

Fall is so here for me today. I’m busy stocking up on home fragrance today and I’m also delighted, absolutely delighted to share with you the fact that the Lab’s Halloweenie blends have launched

Praise Jebus!

Many of you are familiar with my love of BPAL but those who are not and simply love Halloween must race over and take a peek at some of the new (and old favorite) fragrances they have introduced for Halloween/Fall 2012.

These fragrance oils come in 5ML glass alchemy bottles and are quite potent. Each scent is utterly unique and really evokes the start of Fall for me.

I just did my haul this morning!

I got:

Jump ahead for the entire collection!

Please, if you’re ordering anything at all make sure it includes a bottle of Sugar Skull. I’ve collected this scent for 8 years and each year it just seems to get better and better and better!

Here’s the entire list of scents available for Fall/Halloween 2012.

All Souls’ Night, 1917
Embers that give no warmth; cold hands stoking a fire that gives no light. Fragonia, carrot seed, and ashen sandalwood.

The Apparition
Quicksilver-cold and heartless: white sandalwood, immortelle, zdravetz, and oudh.

Autumn Coolness 2012
The scent of wisteria, Cymbidium, lotus blossom, and cassia buds drifting on a breeze through gently swaying bamboo reeds.

Bonfire Night 2012
Beer, woodsmoke, tar, and treacle.

Boo 2012
Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream.

Dia de Los Muertos 2012
Dry, crackling leaves, the incense smoke of altars honoring Death and the Dead, funeral bouquets, the candies, chocolates, foods and tobacco of the ofrenda, amaranth, sweet cactus blossom and desert cereus.

Fizzy Jack O’ Lantern
1.5 oz gin
 oz dry sherry
 oz lemon juice
1 tsp pumpkin butter
2 dashes of Averna amaro

Pour the gin, sherry, lemon juice, pumpkin butter, and liqueur to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake that mofo and strain it into a rocks glass filled with ice and a strong, spicy ginger ale. Stir gently, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or human finger bone.

Ghost House
Purple-stemmed raspberries, twining grape vines, Spanish moss, and dusty pale woods.

Mango-Infused Pumpkin Chai Latte
Pumpkin-spiced gunpowder tea with mango peel, red ginger, green cardamom, smoky clove buds, fennel, allspice, saffron, coconut sugar, and foamy milk.

Mediation in Autumn 2012
A desolate scent, dusty, bleak, and withered: old wood, burnt brown sandalwood, and twisted vines.

Mischief
The scent of petty vandalism: toilet paper wads on damp maple trees, squished pumpkins, raw eggs, beer, pumpkin seed hulls, and soapy glass.

Pomona 2012
Azaroles, nuts, and apple blossoms with red apple pulp, mulberry, blackberry, and pomegranate juice.

Punkie Night 2012
Apple orchards, bright cranberries, and a touch of warm cider.

Samhain 2012
Damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein.

Suck It 2012
Black cherry brandy.

Sugar Skull 2012
A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits.

There’s also a new Haunted House Collection as well but I didn’t list the full scents here.

All can be viewed at www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com

Happy Haulin’ your Halloweenies!

I hope you’ll share some of your purchases with me if you’re a fond fan of the Lab or even some of your old favs from years past.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. • Misti

SUCH a BPAL fan girl. I placed my order with a decanter this morning. I passed on Fizzy jack o lantern, but I’m regretting it now. Might need to add at least a sample…hmmm…

I tend to go for earthy, leathery, foody, floral scents and then the more ‘atmospheric’ stuff, as long as it’s still in my range of likes.
    I got:
    SPANISH MOSS
    THE GHASTLY GARDEN
    THE WRETCHED ROSE WINDOW
    AUTUMN COOLNESS 2012
    GHOST HOUSE
    MEDITATION IN AUTUMN 2012

I’m really intrigued by that Meditation in Autumn. Can’t wait to sniff!

    • the Muse

ahhh you went a little darker misti! I tend to go for the foody stuff ;-D NICE haul! I ended up going full bottle, ALWAYS promise myself I’ll go with an LJ imp haul but end up doing the opposite *head desk*

Let me know how mediation in autumn is, because I was tempted but a little scared of it!

  • Kimryan8

Woah. Those are pricey! Very, very cool though. Any chance you could do an update on how Mischief smells? I’m so intrigued but at $23 per bottle, yikes! Anything else that is amazing that you cannot pass up???

    • the Muse

will do kim but prob won’t get my order until end of September groan! SO many things LOL SO many ;-D do you really want me to go there?!

    • .ae.

Hey! I am very new here (hi!) but I was drawn by the lure of BPAL, which I love.

If you don’t know the company, they have a sample offer of 6 tester vials for $24 (at last recollection) and they toss in a few extra ones for free! The testers alone last me a while because I don’t wear much perfume–I’m sensitive to scents, so anything more than a little whiff gives me a headache–and are also a great way to figure out what I like in case I decide to splurge for a favorite. However, I don’t know if the Halloween collection is open to samples (not all their collections are), and I shouldn’t go look because I need to *not* spend money on pretty-smelling things 😛

Signed, another BPAL fan who loves her Crossroads

      • the Muse

hi ae! glad to have a fellow fan to chat with 🙂 yup imps are available for many products however not for LE scents so sadly you have to order full size on Halloween, Christmas, the Moons, etc 🙁

  • Lulubelle

Thanks for the heads up! I learned about BPAL via your blog and am quite the fan now. I love their fall and Halloween offerings the best!

  • Suzie

I didn’t know you were into indies! I have been hauling Haus of Gloi and Future Primitive autumn collections, I actually haven’t gotten around to trying BPAL yet. Hmmm…

    • the Muse

I’m TOO into indies suzie…etsy, indie beauty shops, etc…lol! it’s a bad bad bad bad habit girl! shut up shut up shut up! I don’t wanna hear about HoG lalalalalala my ears are closed lalalalalala ;-D

      • Suzie

Oh I know what you are saying! I have cultivated a small obsession with indies for some months now (especially the two I mentioned and will not mention again. haha) and there are so many I want to try. And they all seem to make such fabulous things! I keep hearing about BPAL, but there are so many perfumes on that site I have no idea where to start. I know I should try samples, but I’m the kind of girl who just likes to spend her money on full sizes and be done with it. Life is hard. 😀

        • the Muse

it’s been bad for me for a few years now lol! it all started several years ago with skindazzles after that it was ALL downhill ;-D omg me too and people think I’m nuts for doing that..I’d rather just buy a full size…! it’s just easier for me for some reason!

  • Daisy

Can you wear these right on your skin like a perfume? If not, what do use them for?

    • the Muse

they are fragrance oils daisy, as in perfume oils for your skin 🙂

  • BeautyBugCA

I’ve never heard of this company before. Thanks to your post, I just ordered a few imps and 3 of the Halloweenies. Looking forward to trying them!

  • Darkeyedfran

MUSE! You’ve done it again! I always love your fall picks! I bought two of the halloweenies, i seriously Can’t wait to get the vampire bride and samhain in! i wish they didn’t take so long to ship 🙁 if I ordered on the 1st do you think they’ll get here by the first week of october?

    • the Muse

mwahhaaaa fran! LOL ;-D So glad you indulged! ;-D You’ll def get them in time for halloween, prob towards end of September or so. I typically get my in time to enjoy them ;D

  • Katie

I’ve wanted to try these for a long time, but haven’t because I was afraid I’d contaminate the perfume oil during application. Now I might just have to give in…Sugar Skull and Mango-infused Pumpkin Chai Latte sound too yummy to pass up! When you get your order in, please let us know how you like em, Muse =D

    • the Muse

i surely will katie ;-D contaminate? how? did you mean you didn’t like the application method? if so you can order wands for applying them from etsy ;D

  • Lauren

Eek! So much pressure, I still haven’t settled on the scents I want to order :/ I too am a foody fanatic, yay!! I was put off at first by the description for Mischief – raw eggs, beer and toilet paper? LOL. But now I really wanna try it, just for kicks, and now you have me thinking about Sugar Skull..hmm.. decisions, decisions 🙂

    • the Muse

lol knowing Beth and Ted it smells awesome and nothing like raw eggs beef or toilet paper hahaha! sugar skull=MUST HAVE!

  • Katie

ohh boy I was bad this year I got

    Raven Moon
    Blue Moon
    The Bloody Banister
    The Perilous Parlor
    Fizzy Jack O’Lantern
    Mischief
    Punkie night
    Samhain
    Mariposita

Do you find that sugar skull changes a lot every year? The first one I got was 2010 and I did not order it again because I thought it might be the same. I did not realize that the scent changes I thought it was just a repeat.

    • the Muse

katie very slightly…NOT enough to warrant a repurchase though ;-D seems more sugary as the year progresses sometimes…! I buy it every year, it’s my FAV Halloween blend ;-D Great haul! mine just shipped! Did yours?!
