Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Clinique has extended their Even Better Collection with a new Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector.

Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Corrector ($39.50) acts as a pigmented eye cream/treatment to diffuse the look and appearance of dark circles while refreshing eyes with ingredients like caffeine (excellent for puffiness) and Green Tea Extract.

Let’s take a look!

This is a tinted, lightweight eye cream that would be best suited to AM use. If you have drier eyes you’ll probably want to bring out the big guns for PM moisture as I wouldn’t necessarily rely on this for nightly use. On top of the fact it only lightly hydrates, it’s also tinted so again, it defeats the purpose of using it in the evening.

The tint is a light flesh color which didn’t really effect my dark circles or conceal them. Don’t rely on Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector to conceal your dark circles because it simply won’t work this way.

It actually relies on pigments in the tint to provide the brightening effect. Mica and titanium dioxide among other ingredients create a brightening, shine effect that will diffuse the appearance of dark circles not treat them. This blend of optics capture light and create a brighter look so your dark circles will appear lessened.

Although it lacks anything that will actually treat your dark circles it does contain a good deal of anti-aging ingredients that help to prevent the breakdown of natural collagen while strengthening the delicate skin tissue under your eyes.

The formula is a lightweight, fast absorbing cream that can be applied using the cooling slanted applicator. The metal tip feels very cool to the touch and can massage away puffiness as you apply. I do have to pat after I’ve massaged though to get good even coverage.

Overall, Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector can easily be confused as a “treatment” product due to the name. It isn’t going to rid you of dark circles merely diffuse the look of them. It didn’t actually work for me in this fashion and I felt concealer did a far better job to brighten up and conceal my under eye woe. It does make an excellent AM eye cream with solid anti-aging ingredients though. If you’re younger and in need of a lot less concealer than myself you might feel it works great as a way to freshen eyes up.

It’s available now at your favorite Clinique counter or online at www.clinique.com

    hi muse,
is this comparable to the garnier anti-dark circle roller? just wondering cause price-wise, this is a bit much.

    thanks,
    gwen

gwen they are two completely different products hun so can’t really compare the two.

I had thought about this one, so I’m glad you’ve reviewed it, I don’t think it’s what I need. I currently am using an eye gel at night, in the morning I start with MAC prep and prime vibrancy eye, then concealer under eye and udpp on eyelids.

My friends have told me “I’m glad I don’t need all that stuff” because I also use serum, moisturizer, primer, tinted moisturizer and mineral powder most days. I don’t think I “Need” them but I do like my skin better that way and really want to not have sun damage or wrinkles by 35. Plus I know I’m always going to fight dark circles, not just give in.

breyer nothing wrong with all that imho! I use the same amount of products! If you want flawless sometimes you have to take special attention to get there 😀 sounds like you’re doing it right to me :D!

thanks for trying Even Better Eyes for me because I think I’ll need a lot more helps than that. I have tried their Even Better Clinical and liked it quite a bit – but that was a different type of thing altogether.

    Love your blog though!

my pleasure kate. me too, for a daily eye cream it’s ok but if you have drier eyes you def need something more moisturizing 🙂 aw thanks <3!

Thank you for the review. I wasn’t sure if its really the type of product I need for my dark circles. I have tried almost everything, I’m not a big fan of make up. Is there nothing that works to eliminate the dark rings? Do I have to use a concealer?

  • Gary

Ok, I’m an older guy who now has puffiness and darkness around my eyes. Don’t like it. Don’t want to use high priced women’s products. Any suggestions?

    • Jackie

PS will get rid of puffiness and reduce line appearance but not necessarily the skin darkness.

Hi – thanks for the review. I have dark circles (but not puffiness). Any idea if this works better than Dermologica Total Eye Care? I’ve been using it for years and considering the Clinque product but it doesn’t sound like it is much better. I would love to actually treat my dark circles (versus having to cover them up.) thanks!

    • the Muse

sorry tracy I never tried dermologica’s total eye care! so can’t compare 🙁

    a. But Clinique is claiming a 30% reduction in the appearance of undereye shadows in 12 weeks – so they must be thinking of it as a treatment rather than a cosmetic.

    b. @Gary – try L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Eye Roller – the cool metal ball in the applicator will help to reduce puffiness, Caffeine will tighten, AND it won’t look like makeup. Costs a lot less too.

is there any product that will really treat dark circles on women?
also, what would really help some crepiness and sagging?
    thank you…

  • jackie

Is the new Clinique “Even better eyes” the same as Estee Lauder’s Idealist? It looks like the same applicator, plus basically has the same claims. Thx.

From my personal experience with the product it has def made a difference in the appearance of dark circles and I haven’t been using it for that long. However my under eye area is more oily. Also from what I’ve been told it’s the applicator that really does the job in removing the darkness because it redistributes the blood that’s collected in the area (which is what causes the darkness)

I currently work for clinique and the even better eyes is to be used solely as a treatment for morning and night time use in place of your current eye cream. It does not have moisture so it you are dry you should stick with your current cream. It does have optical brighteners to help brighten the area, but you want to use your concealer over top for extra coverage if needed.

I love this one I really really do. I honestly feel it has reduced my dark circles. I was not impressed with Cliniques depuffing serum, or the Loreal one. But Clinique even better is my personal holy grail for under eye
