Lunasol Shining Eyes Review & Swatches

This a little late of a review since Lunasol Shining Eyes were released Spring 2010. But I realized I never reviewed them here on Musings and decided to do so today.

I’m a big fan of this type of Japanese cream eyeshadow. Many, many brands have a similar sort of product however, my first try with them were from Visee.

Let’s take a look!

As I mentioned many Japanese brands favor this style of cream eyeshadow. It’s basically a cream shadow housed in a lipgloss style tube with a sponge applicator.

Technically speaking it’s a lot thinner than a potted cream shadow and also contains considerably more shimmer with a lot less pigment. The shades tend to rely on a heap of sparkle to produce a subtle color pay off with a highly shimmery finish. Being the sparkle whore I am, of course, I love them.

EX06, Shining Gold, is a bit disappointing since it really lacks color however, it produces a pretty sparkle of gold on lids that compliments a bolder lip color or blush. A shade you’ll want to use when you’re going heavier on lips and cheeks and don’t want to overdo it with a heavy eye look as well.

The formula has a gel-like feel and applies easily. You can build it up for more intense sparkle or play it down for a softer shimmer. It blends easily with very little effort and a quick dry down that remains just “wet” enough long enough for you to either blend out or build up.

I believe Lunasol has since done away with these however, shops like Imomoko.com still carry the colors.

They range around $20-$35 per a shade. I do think this is a little high considering many cheaper Japanese brands produce similar colors in a similar produce for a lot less. You’re paying into the Lunasol name here as I really don’t feel the formula differs from any other product I’ve tried along the same line.

Overall, you don’t need Lunasol Shining Eyes but this review is a good introduction to cream shadows like this.

Love that sparkle!

I was gifted this item by a friend, brand, or family member.

Whoa–loving the whole look you did here Muse! The subtle, shimmery cream shadow and the glossy red pout are gorgeous! I’ve always wanted to try something from Lunasol. These might not be pigmented enough for me, but their powder shadows look amazing!

How was the wear on this eyeshadow? I always end up with really bad creasing so I’m not a big fan of cream eyeshadow. I’m willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, though. I have a soft spot for Japanese products 🙂

It’s subtle, but it looks super pretty on you! Also complimented by those WA-POW lips you got going on in that pic! 😀
