Lush Emotional Brilliance Liquid Lipstick Strong Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Sorry for all the orange-y lip color posts lately but they keep passing over my desk! Another I’m loving at the moment? The new Lush Emotional Brilliance Liquid Lipstick in Strong.

Strong indeed this color pops!

Lush Emotional Brilliance is a newly launched makeup from the brand that features over 30 products for lips, face, and eyes with a vegan friendly formula.

Emotional Brilliance is a makeup launched based on your mood or state of mind. Lush believes that you can personalize your color makeup experience by spontaneously selecting shades based on your mood using there Spin the Wheel discovery game that can be played in store or online!

Although I already reviewed Lush Emotional Brilliance Liquid Lipstick in a past post I really had to show you the shade Strong. Holy Popping Orange Batman!

Strong is indeed, well, strong. This is a true orange shade with a bold color pay off that’s true to shade. The formula is a velvety lip color with a thicker consistency (the other shade I tried in the liquid lipstick was thinner) with a lightweight feel and a matte finish. There’s some shine here but for the most part it lacks sparkle or shimmer of any kind and has a satiny, powder-y feel on lips. This has a rich color payoff so a single stroke will wrap lips in total color.

Like all Lush Emotional Brilliance products it comes in a tiny dropper style glass bottle with a sponge applicator.

Overall, Lush Emotional Brilliance Liquid Lipstick in Strong was ridiculously fun to use. I love oranges but I’m scared to use them but I have to admit I loved how this looked on. The rest of the population probably thinks I look like a clown in it but I look in the mirror and ooohhhh and ahhh over the color.

Now I have to work up a nerve to leave the house with it on!

Loves this one!

Lush Emotional Brilliance is available now at Lush shops or online at www.lushusa.com

Ohhhh I love the color (too bad I don’t love the price point!) As for daring to wear it out… I learned a little trick in my own experience. I started wearing bold colors to do mundane things (like laundry or food shopping). I don’t know why but it made it SO much easier and now I can wear hot pink to an event and the only thing I worry about is making sure I haven’t smudged it all to hell yet, haha. You should definitely wear it though, because that color is super fun on you. 🙂

I’d like a shave off the price too in all honesty ;-D in it’s defense it does contain a lot of product but I think I’d be more comfortable with a lower price tag I totally hear you Michou! lol I’m going to try that! I’ll wear orange while doing the laundry hehe ;-D aw thank you! I really feel odd in it but I had fun trying it out! Have a great weekend misses!

Oooh, Muse, I love it — please leave the house with it, it looks great on you! I just bought an Armani sheer lipstick in bright Tangerine but this is more of what I was looking for — I’m jelly!!!

    • the Muse

awwwwwww thanks susan I’m a little scared of it tbh ;-D but I might creep out one day with it on 😀

  • Misato-san

I quite like it on you but I think it can be better paired with another blush… a coral or orange one (too bad you haven’t Kiko Cosmetics over there because the last cream blush I brought from them – I’m wearing it ie in my August 30th focusing… another Emotional Brilliance lip product XDDD)…

  • cat

You look beautiful with that lipstick, Muse. Stop fishing for compliments. Clown, indeed. Given the different finish, did this one feel drying at all?

    • the Muse

thanks cat lol but I beg to disagree, I def feel a little uncomfortable with this one on ;-D not at all, it’s got a silicone-y slick feel if that makes sense, that texture commonly associated with liquid lipsticks, kinda like Korres Liquid Lipstick formula if you tried them but a little glossier.

I spun the Colour Wheel and Strong was my first pick. I do love the finish and the texture, but I can only wear it when I’m feeling bold and don’t mind extra attention 🙂 I think it looks great on you!

    • the Muse

lol same here jeanne, I’m actually a little scared to wear it outside 🙂

  • Kiss & Make-up

This was one of the three colors I selected from the wheel 🙂 I didn’t end up buying it because the color was a bit too bright for me, but just in itself I liked it a lot and I was very impressed with the pigmentation, the finish and the wear!

  • Joana

Do It! You look nothing like a clown, that color looks superb on you 🙂

    • the Muse

aw thanks joana! you’re too kind! I’m a little scared of the shade tbh ;-D but I had fun trying it!

  • OrangeLipstickBlog

Don’t be sorry for all the orange-y lip color posts! I love ’em! This color is MAGICAL! I love it on you!

    • the Muse

aw glad to hear it! and obvious right? thanks to your name! aw thank you thank you thank you so much <3!

  • Marilyn @ Lipgloss and Spandex

You look AMAZING in that color! It’s really pretty with your skin tone. I tried their liquid lipsticks and I really liked them, and the packaging is cute, but $22 is a little steep IMO.

    • the Muse

aw thanks Marilyn! it is twice the size of a normal lipstick if that helps justify the cost 🙂

  • Cindy

Oh this looks so lovely on you! This is my kinda bold color! I wish there was a Lush store around my parts. :'[

  • gabriella

Oh. My. God. This color looks ridiculously fab on you! I can’t pull off Orange but wow!!!
