Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

This is sorta kinda a mini review of the newly launched Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow ($20). I say mini because I didn’t technically try them so I’m just giving you a little commentary on the consistency and other small details.

I don’t fill my brows since I have, well, I have so much brow. Adding powder to them or trying to fill them would just be messy, they are thick enough without.

Let’s take a quick pick.

The new Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow is a tiny tube of smudge-proof eyebrow corrector for filling, defining, and adding depth to brows. The tube is small but you’ll probably get plenty of uses out of it since it appears quite pigmented and I imagine a little goes a long way.

I don’t know a ton about brow powder but the selection of shades does seem limited. They have a a light blonde, blonde, and ash color. Perhaps these will be universally flattering for most? The shades seemed a little off to me.

Swatched: Blonde 15 (Don’t mind the pink on my arm, I was swatching Posietint prior to swatching this!).

This is a gel-like consistency with a thicker texture that feels a tad tacky and sticky. As I mentioned above it seems quite concentrated so a little will probably go a very long way. It actually has a super hold on brows so you can shape and hold the style in place like this. Make Up For Ever claims it is waterproof as well.

I don’t think I’ve ever see brow gel/powder come in a packaging like this but as I said I’m not an expert on this topic 🙂

Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow is available now at Sephora and Sephora.com

Do you use a brow gel or powder?

This looks a little bit scary to be honest. I don’t want my eyebrows to look too… painted on and fake? Maybe you only use a little bit with a small brush and paint in strokes rather than filling your brows in? Do let us know if you test it out… for the time being, I am going to stick to my more forgiving brow pencil and powder.

wow, I’ve never seen a brow gel like that! I’m kind of curious as to how it applies/looks on eyebrows. O_O

…but I think I’ll pass on this, lol. I’d prefer to stick to my eyebrow pencils and powders. 🙂

You’re lucky! I’d save a LOT of time if I didn’t have to fill my brows! As for the product it’s not for me…if my eyebrows feel like they have product in them it drives me nuts. It’s powder or dryer automatic pencils for me.

I’ll take ’em! I bet they are still better than mine!! I have the “pleasure” of having dark yet rather sparse brows that also want to grow up to my forehead lol.

Then you must do a great job of grooming them, they always look perfect.

I’m a little nervous about this product but very intrigued at the same time. I have very oily skin and I use brow powder, so when it’s really hot out I’ve had my brows wear right off my face. Something like this would be great–but I’m scared that it won’t look natural (a HUGE thing for me–I hate having obviously drawn-on brows, which is why I’m also scared to use pencil)

Do you live near a Daiso? If so they have an eyebrow sealant for that very purpose. It’s called “Eyebrow Coat” you can find it on eBay for a 10x markup if you really can’t find it in person.

I’m curious about this. I fill my eyebrows in with a mixture of pencil and powder. I have the horrible tendency to somehow wipe at my eyebrows (Especially while working). If I could find something that doesn’t easily wipe away that would be wonderful!

I think it’s neat how the formula looks, but I wish there was more ‘red’ available since I look dumb with brown/dark brows. I hope they expand the colour selection!!

I use a transparent eyebrow gel, just to keep my unruly eyebrows in check. When I’m working on a model, I usually use powder to fill in the eyebrows. Or a pencil. I’ve never worked with a gel before.

I use this stuff and it works great! It’s not at all difficult to put on and it really does stay without fading or smudging. The nice thing about it is that you can wear it in a more “natural” look or really sculpt a more “tailored” looking eyebrow if you want. I’ve always had nice, strong brows (like you, Muse) but recently (I’m a little older than most of you, probably) I’ve gotten a few bare spaces and a few grays. This takes care of all of that! I definitely recommend this product.

denise, I never even though about gray hairs, that’s a great way to use it…!!!!!!

  • Denise

One more thing—you literally need a tiny dot to do both eyebrows. The amount you are showing on your hand, Muse, is about 10 times more than you would need for a single application. This stuff will last a long time!

  • Samantha

You are so lucky to have such full and gorgeous eyebrows! Do you have any tips on growing thicker and fuller brows?

  • Amy Amethyst

The package is very strange to me. Most brow gel type products are in mascara tube type packaging. I do use a brow powder and I love it because it helps define my brows but still looks very natural.

  • Misato-san

I’m curious about them but I’m a loyal Lingering by MAC lover so pencils for me are the best option! ^^

I believe they gave this a new name with the 3 new added shades. I’ve been using Make Up Forevers waterproof brow corrector that comes in the same kind of tube but the name is different and has 4 shades. A pin size drop is enough or more than enough for one brow. It has great staying power and really looks natural if applied correctly. I love this product to pieces!

I bought this for my Mom and she loved it, though I wouldn’t use it myself (I have thick brows and just need a bit of powder to even them up, but unruly, so brow gel’s a must!) Her brows are sparse and she has oily skin, there was a bit of a learning curve since it’s so pigmented and really is waterproof when set. The only thing she loved better was the Brow Mousse from Tarte which was more forgiving.
