Skin Food Salmon Brightening Eye Cream Review

My review of Skin Food Salmon Brightening Eye Cream is LONG over do. I introduced many of you to the powder and concealer ages and ages ago but never followed up with a review of the eye cream and eye serum.

I guess it got away from me. The Salmon range is one of the most successful products I’ve tried from Skin Food. Both the concealer and powder are HG products for me as is the eye cream.

Let’s take a peek!

Skin Food successfully creates some gorgeous eye creams that really hydrate well but most are ineffective as aging or anti-aging treatments. However, I do always recommend and suggest them as they moisturize incredibly, better than most high end eye treatments and cream plus they are fairly inexpensive and add to the fact that never, ever give me issues with milia. All this equals a very happy Muse!

Skin Food Salmon Brightening Eye Cream was created to fight dark circles and brighten the eye area. It’s a bit odd considering it contains arbutin, an effective whitening ingredient typically used in facial lotions and potions. I’ve never seen arbutin recommended for around the eye area. It also contains extracts of Omega 3 rich salmon roe.

I’ve been using it for two years now or so? This is my third jar actually. It’s a thicker cream consistency with a thinner texture as you apply. It seems to emulsify when it hits skin and starts going a bit oily. It does absorb easily enough but requires a fair few pats to lessen the oiliness. It’s highly moisturizing under my drier eyes. I typically use it as a PM eye cream (lately I’ve cheated on and off with Philosophy Miracle Worker though).

Does it brighten?

Yes.

It doesn’t necessarily treat darkness though. After long term use I haven’t noticed my dark circles looking any brighter but my overall eye looks brighter and more youthful, less tired. It does fairly well with puffiness too. Although not listed as a benefit of use it seems to do well with puffiness and deflates my bags giving my eyes a perky look versus a tired one.

One thing I noticed about using this over a long period is the fact I feel more comfortable going concealer-less at times. I rely on my concealer to create flawlessness under my older eyes but this seems to allow me, if I choose, to go out without the aid of concealer.

Overall, it’s an excellent eye cream that does show some great benefits. It doesn’t really treat darkness or whiten my eye area up by erasing dark circles completely but it does brighten things up and gives my eyes a far less tired look.

Loves!

Muse Approved for purchase.

There are good deal of shops that carry this online. I suggest Zinopark on E-bay. He’s super friendly (little limited with English), very quick to ship, has legit products with fresh expiration dates, and has fairly reasonable pricing and shipping.

Note: I am not affiliated with this seller.

I purchased this item.

Have you tried the serum and the massage serum? I like the cream, but it’s a tad bit too heavy for me though. 🙁

  • Alanna

I’ll have to try this! I love the concealer and I don’t have a good eye cream atm. Love love zinopark too <3 He always packs me plenty of samples <3

    • the Muse

How is the serum? Under my eyes gets a bit greasy so I would rather get something more thin.

Muse, you naughty girl. Trying to balance two eye creams at once never ends well. XD

This is a staple for me as well. I’m on my 2nd jar. It might be too thick for some people, but for me it’s perfect since I have dry sky around my eye area.

I use the cream since long, but in a pump bottle (is that the serum you are mentioning?) and have stopped using concealer completely.

  • Ryou

I love this! I use it on the area between my nose and upper lip as well, since it gets really dry there. It works wonders and lasts forever! 😀

Muse, I’m also a sucker for concealers and eye creams, as I not only have millia like yourself, but I have allergies that have made me tug and sniffle all my life, so I already have fine lines under my eyes despite my age (boo). Could you do a roundup of the best/HG eye creams you’ve ever used in terms of anti-aging, moisture throughout the day, tagging well along with a concealer and all that jazz? I’m sure it’ll be a huge asset to us concealer/eye cream h0rs lol

Thank you very much for your work! I’ll be sure to give this salmon eye cream a try, since I’m sure brightening and depuffing will count wonders against my little fine lines. xoxo

    because i’m confused 🙁
please tell me which one is the best eye cream you’ve ever tried
    thanks a lot

    • the Muse

hi nezzia sorry I’m very behind on email. the site generates a ton of emails and sometimes it takes me time to get through them. I switch up eye creams a lot currently I am using and liking philosophy miracle worker eye cream.

  • Gozde

    Hi Muse,
Thank you for this great review. I am wondering the ingredients of this product, i want to use simple -kinda organic- eye cream, i just want hydration but all of them have antiaging bla bla. Pff i could not find just hydrating cream. What do you suggest?

  • Sunnie

    Hi Muse,
I’m lucky to find this review made by you and thank you so much for giving me a bunch of good information about this Salmon Brightening Eye Cream. I want to ask you this question, and I hope you can reply me soon. I’m about to buy both Eye Cream and Eye Serum of this Skinfood line, but I don’t know which one I should apply under my eyes first. Will it be much better if I use both at the same time? I’m looking forward to getting your reply. Thank you so much!

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Sunnie! How are you? I’m glad to review as helpful! Serum first, eye cream after. You don’t absolutely need both! You can use the serum in the AM if you desire something lighter and the cream at night but if you have dry eyes using both def help improve moisture!
