Tarte Call of the Wild Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Review & Swatches

Tarte Call of the Wild Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner is newly launched for Fall 2012 ($22). This comes as a set which features a full size gel eyeliner as well as a double ended eyeliner brush for application.

Take a look!

If you already own Tarte EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Shadow/Liner black you might not nesscerily need to haul the Tarte Call of the Wild Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Set as the formula is pretty similiar.

Props to Tarte for including a very user friendly dual ended brush with this set. The brush features a thin bristled liner brush on one end and another end has a slightly bent thin bristled liner brush. The straighter end allows for precise application of the eyeliner where as the slightly bent edge aids with a curved cat eye look.

The formula is a gorgeous, glossy shade of black. This is where it differs slightly from the EmphasEYES formula and finish. I felt this formula had a slicker glide and a blacker, glossier finish versus EmphasEYES’ matte, drier finish.

It smudges fairly easily but has a longer dry down time so do be aware of this during application and give it a second to set prior to following up with other steps in your eye makeup regime. I typically don’t have issues with smudging, fading, etc…even in extreme heat condition my mascara, eyeliner, etc…typically sticks around fine due to my drier eyes and lids. I had no issues with this after it set. It wore strong for me without any flaking action, smudging, or fading. At the end of a long day it looked as fresh as ever.

Amazonian Clay is supposedly known for its mattifying abilities, not sure how that works out in an eyeliner to be honest but Tarte says it can be found in the formula.

Overall, this an excellent gel eyeliner with a gorgeous texture and a formula that glides on like melted butter. It is quite similiar to EmphasEYES so you might want to second guess a purchase if you already own a full pot of that formula. However, those seeking a soft, glossy potted gel eyeliner this is a beautiful pick. This is the type of formula that proves super easy to apply even for beginners.

Likey!

sadly it is as I’d indulge in further shades if they did them, I like this a little better than emphaseyes!

I love the packaging and a glossy looking eyeliner sounds like something I need!

I never liked the emphasis eyes because it was a tad to stiff. I really want to try this. I need another black eyeliner like i need a hole in the head lol.

Such a cute pot, meow 🙂 I’m not sure about the brush, though. I’d probably use my own eyeliner brush for this. But I like how it’s such a deep and glossy black color.

I’ve fallen in love with the packaging. It’s too bad I already have too many potted liners.

Muse I’m looking for a new cream/gel eyeliner. Bobbi Brown is my favorite so far. Which one would you recommend? I read your Lorac pro cream eyeliner review and I’m tempted to try that one. Other ones that I have not tried are Mac Fluidline and YSL. Thanks!
