Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Fragrance Oil Gobo Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

I’m heading down to Fraggle Rock today kids with the new Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Fragrance Oil in Gobo.

I dunno about you but I grew up with Henson madness. Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, the Muppets, Tale of the Bunny Picnic, and of course the Fraggles were on my playlist rotation as a child.

Needless to say when I discovered the Lab was creating fragrance oils inspired by the Fraggles I was all over the idea. I was ready to dance my cares away….!

Gobo being the unofficial “leader” of the Fraggle gang (some would say Mokey but she’s more of an adviser isn’t she?) I decided to try him first.

Let’s take a look!

The Lab creates exciting one of a kind perfume blends housed in a 5ml vintage style alchemy glass vial. I’ve been collecting oils from them since the dawn of time it seems. Oils come and they go and in most cases many become highly sought after by collector’s and even those new to the brand.

The Fraggle Rock Collection obviously created its own frenzy among the 80’s crowd out there, me being one!

The Fraggle Fragrance Oil Collection consists of a series of eight different scents inspired by various Fraggles. Each bottle is 5ml in size and is $26 each. It may seem like a lot to indulge in but you have to remember these are a pure fragrance oil which makes them stronger than your average, everyday perfume. They have amazing throw on a dab and wonderful linger.

Gobo, like his skin, starts out with a zing of tangerine followed by lemon, grapefruit, sugar, and vanilla cream. On my skin I can smell a great deal of sugary lemon but as the oil dries down other notes play delicately in the background and you can easily catch a bite of grapefruit and a zip of tangerine. Upon full dry down the scent goes completely Fruit Loop cereal on me. It’s a mix up of wonderful candied citrus notes with sugar and cream that can only be described as Fruit Loops cereal-like.

I absolutely love it. It’s playful, sweet, and incredibly girlish. I’m not sure Gobo comes to mind when I wear it as he’s more of an adventurous soul so you’d think his scent might be more green or herbal.

But either way it’s a delightful blend that’s sure to please those who like sugary sweet fragrances. I’d also recommend it if you enjoy Fresh Lemon Sugar as this kinda sorta has elements from that fragrance but with more sugar.

I love lemon sugar fragrances. I remember when .mark had the lemon sugar fragrance oil and I loved it. These look like a lot of fun. I loved the Fraggles.

Worries for another day! I loved Red, I connected with her the most because our personalities were similar enough. I miss all the Henson goodness. 🙁 I re watched the muppet movies and the Muppet Show earlier this year, and I feel like I never can get enough of it. I hadnt re watched the Fraggle cartoon yet, not sure if I can find that anywhere. I use to collect the Dark Crystal trading Cards too. Gah!! I miss the 80s sometimes!! /ramble

And more on topic, that scent sounds tasty and marvelous. /adjust monocle

Fraggle Rock I loved that series I loved the theme song it made me always so happy and joy full.
Lemon is a great smell, indeed 26 dollar seems much but if it lingers more then it is really worth it. I’m between Gobo red and Uncle Traveler Matt.
I really want to smell them .

Oohhh I love the Uncle with his postcards and making that poor dog nuts.

there are ton of other retailers on etsy and also arcana, Villainess, soap box company does single notes for ten dollars, haus of gloi…there are literally tons 🙂

I will mention that while I adore Villainess, I do find their perfume oils are a lot weaker than BPAL’s. Kind of sad that my Birth Rite oil wants to disappear on me. 🙁

  • Naie

It’s been years since I’ve ordered from BPAL. How is the shipping these days? I remembered that in the past I was always reluctant to order because shipping would often take months due to the volumes of order they were receiving and unable to process.

still the same naie 🙁 about a month wait le sigh! but isn’t nearly as bad as it once was…I used to wait near two months now it’s about 20-40 days.
