Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfect Makeup Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfect Makeup is one of many new foundations that embrace a second skin formula that adheres to skin for lightweight coverage that feels like it’s part of your skin.

Although I don’t have a terrible issue with larger pores I decided to test this out. The shade is very off (golden 24) but I decided to test it out anyway because I really liked the texture of the formula.

Here’s some thoughts!

Clinique markets Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfect Makeup ($27) for those who have large pores and are looking for ways to minimize their appearance. This is a gel-like texture that does potentially have the ability to conceal larger pores due to the way it melds with skin and creates a second skin appearance.

The foundation provides seamless coverage in a lighter gel-like formula. The makeup actually utilizes the same resurfacing complex found in the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum with optics that work to minimize the appearance of your pores over time. I’m a little skeptical of anything that promises to banish pores completely but the texture proves that it will provide breathable coverage that should conceal the issue and create a more flawless finish on skin.

This is the type of foundation that seems like Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup and Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation. A base that will enhance your own skin tone.

Since the color I tried was quite off it’s difficult to review it completely but I will say I was mighty impressed with the texture and will indulge in another bottle at my local counter. When I do get my match I’ll be sure to re-review.

I look forward to testing it further, so far, it seems like it’ll be a great love.

Tried it?

LOL! right?! it arrived and I was like seriously!? do you even read my blog ;D

  • Cindy

Please re-review! With large pores comes combination and oily skin! I hope they took that into consideration, but I’d really love to try this out myself.

    • the Muse

it’s actually a matte finish but feels very hydrating on my skin cindy! But I’m def doing a re-review, I LOVE the texture and def will indulge in my shade and see what I think of the wear etc..!

I just got an email from Clinique about this foundation, and I’m so excited to try it out. I swear by the Pore Refining Serum (I’m talking, like, a will-never-be-without-it product). I’m even more excited now that I know it’s similar to EL’s Invisible Fluid Foundation.

    • the Muse

It’s a gorgeous formula quite excited to retry it myself kb, I think you’ll like ;-D it is a bit thicker in texture than EL’s but still virtually weightless!

I was mid-comment and I lost my train of thought, so the rest of my comment makes me sound ditzy. lol Anyway, I’m glad that this is a thicker texture than the Invisible Fluid (which oxidizes so horribly on me that I have to mix it with another foundation), and that it has a matte finish. This foundation sounds like what I’d hoped Clinique’s Stay-Matte foundation would be. Even though the EL foundation oxidizes on me, I’m glad I went with that over Clinique’s (I know they’re two completely different foundations lol). I’m in the market for a new HG foundation now that my former HG was discontinued, and I’d like one that’s as light(ish) as EL’s because my face, while still an oil slick, is much smoother and clearer than it was last summer, and sometimes my MUFE Mat Velvet+ feels too cakey.

i’m so sorry to hear that I actually loved it no probs with oxidizing, and man do I have issues with oxidizing foundations :-/ the new YSL is quite delightful as well! It’s pricey as hell though. I’m also liking the new Armani, although that I didn’t test, I’ll actually have a review of YSL later tonight up it’s schedule for tonight 🙂 hopefully you like the Clinique one, it’s quite nice overall!

What’s funny is that I’ve never had a problem with foundations oxidizing on me before. I even went a shade lighter in the EL so the oxidation wasn’t as noticeable. I wanted a lighter foundation for the summer bad enough that I just dealt with it, because that’s the only complaint I have about the foundation.

          • the Muse

i’ve always had the issue 🙁 or it fades away complete le sigh…! even with good priming I run into issues!

  • LINDARRAGNAR

lol Muse I clicked on this to see you with it on your face 😉 LOLOLolololo

      • Kathleen

Lol! I totally clicked on this to see you with it on too… I’m not a huge Clinique fan except for one lipstick (Rasberry Glacé) that I’ve been wearing forever. I’m interested in seeing your review once you update the shade, though! (And maybe just a peek at the old, pretty please 😉 )

  • Victoria

Way off, LOL. But i look forward to your review. I have oily skin and i love the EL one and i hope this will be just as good, saves a few bucks.

  • OrangeLipstickBlog

OMG, tell me you at least put this all over your face just to see! I can’t even imagine how goofy you’d look! LOL!

  • Somayea

I’m trying to figure out how you ended up with a shade WAY off. LOL
but I’m excited to see your ..re-review. hopefully someone with combo/oily skin will be able to use this 😀

  • Tinkibell

I have HUGE pores and am a lifelong loyal Clinique fan so I can’t wait for your re-review!

I was shocked at the color they sent…although my first thought was “Hey, now the Muse can be Snookie for Halloween! ” ; )

  • Tiffany Martin

Even though it’s not a color match it was good of you to try it anyway because we can learn a little more about it.

  • Danii

DAMN THAT IS DARK. You could do a Ganguro look with that foundation! Geez, way to go Clinique. It sounds like a great foundation (Becase I have enlarged pores and like Cindy, the combination skin comes into play). I hopefully could find a match that won’t be too dark. I would prefer too light now, sadly…

    • the Muse

lol danil with blonde hair right? maybe crystal blue contacts! oy! hehe! ;-D

  • JenJ

Hey that shade might work for me LOL! Interesting. I need to make a trip to the Clinique counter. There are a few of their foundations that have peeked my interest.

  • Daniela

Oooh I might have to grab this. Despite my reservations about clinique..I have actually gone through two whole bottles of the even better foundation..TWO!!!! EMPTY!! What!? As the beauty product equivalent of the crazy hoarding cat lady this is nuts to me. Can’t wait to see your re-review.

  • Somayea

Do you think that this will have more coverage than the estee lauder invisible fluid makeup? 🙂 (once you get the correct shade that is) would you mind comparing the two? 😀

    • the Muse

def more coverage someyea, I typically compare in review so will def mention 🙂

  • Angie Estrada

I’m not a big fan of Clinique But this foundation looks very interesting! Could you do a review on the new Giorgio Armani maestro foundation? I wanna know your thoughts! You do pretty good reviews and trust your judgement!

    • the Muse

thanks angie, yup, just waiting for my counter to get it, really need to head to counter for the best match ;D

  • Cassie

Hahahhhahaaha I was so confused when I saw the photo on your main page!! What were they thinking sending you that color???? Did you try it on your whole face lol? I would have loved to see a picture of that 😀 Regardless, it looks like a nice foundation if it was actually in your shade!

    • the Muse

lol jaw line only and it looked ABSURD ;-D I’m going to macys tonight and purchasing a shade that fits ;-D I LOVE the formula and really wanted to put up a little primary review about it at the least! ;-D

      • Cassie

hahaha I’m sure that looked interesting, to say the least… maybe you could save it for a day when you’re feeling ESPECIALLY tan ;-p and I can’t wait to see the actual review!! It really does look like a lovely formula!

  • Efrain

What about sending it to your lovely mexican reader (I think it fits my skin tone) Also want the review

  • Laura
