Diorskin Matte and Luminous Hydrating Loose Powder in #431 Gold Dust Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Diorskin Matte and Luminous Hydrating Loose Powder ($49) is available in a new limited edition shade for Holiday 2012 which is Gold Dust. The powder is already available in three shade selections and Gold Dust will be available for a limited time, I actually already purchased and own this powder in Transparent Light.

I was quite delighted they released a new shade and was even more delighted when I realized how wearable Gold Dust is. Because hey, gold and dust, well you think major shimmer. But turns out Gold Dust was a welcome replacement for my nearly finished Transparent Light.

Take a look!

Mixing matte, luminous, and hydrating into one powder does lead to a little head scratching. But that’s exactly what this powder is. The perfect combination of a matte yet hydrating finishing powder with a luminous glow.

Having dry skin I tend to skip the last and most traditional finish to makeup, powder. The rare occasions I do use powder are when I am heading our for an evening and want my makeup to look more polished and wear for a longer period of time sans touch ups.

Diorskin Matte and Luminous Hydrating Loose Powder successfully combines a hydrating powder with a glowing finish that wears easily on all skin types whether you’re dry, oily, or have a combination of both. This is a luxurious scented face powder that brings back retro Hollywood in my mind’s eye. It comes in a generously size 0.59 oz container with a powder puff for application.

The powder is a loose finely milled soft powder delicately scented with a floral rosy fragrance. Gold Dust is very similiar in color to the Medium shade already available in the general catalog but contains loose flecks of fine gold shimmer. Don’t be alarmed, the gold shimmer only adds a delicate hint of a glow to face. The powder itself is very soft and silky with a second-skin like finish that perfects skin with a transparent finish. Even my drier skin finds it refreshingly lightweight and silky. The scent is positively intoxicating and the finish adds a delicate luminous glow to my cheeks that looks amazing.

If you’re near to purchasing a new face powder I do urge you to check out Diorskin Matte and Luminous Hydrating Loose Powder in Gold Dust. It’ll add the perfect glow to your Holiday face looks! I’m considering a back up.

Very Muse Approved for purchase.

Oh, you have me convinced! Some other powders do end up making my skin look and feel a little too dry, but I still want that “set” look – I’ll have to look into this!

Oh man! I don’t know about that price tag. I’ve been looking for a new powder. I like Ben Nye Neutral Set but I only used that because my face sweats first, but now that summer is over I want to switch it up. Do you have any other favorites? ^^

I’m very excited about the upcoming Dior collection. Do you know when in October they will be released on dior.com?

Pretty different winni, i always get a pastel highlighted glow from meteorites depending on the shade, this has more of a subtle touch of gold glow.

This is beautiful, it kind of reminds me of Too Faced Pore Perfect (I think that’s what it’s called). It sets the makeup but adds a little glow as well.

Muse, do you know if this will be sold at Sephora, or is it a Dior-only product? I’m addicted to beauty points, so I buy products at Sephora whenever possible. lol Thanks!

kb I’m not sure if holiday will launch at Sephora as of yet. It’s kinda sketchy details when it comes to Holiday. If you want this shade you might want to haul on counter because I suspect Sephora will get the holiday palette and maybe lipsticks but not the powder and other items. Hope this helps!? I’m sorry about the beauty points 🙁

Of course it helps! I stockpile my points, so it won’t kill me to buy something from a counter. I’ve never bought anything from a Dior counter, but I always feel pressured to buy things I don’t need from other department store counters, but I’ve never had that problem in the Sephoras I’ve visited, so I’m pretty loyal to them.
