Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss Review, Swatches, Photos
I discovered the Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss display at my local Walgreens this week. This is a launch of twelve shades that promise a glossy color finish.
I was a little skeptical to try these as the Maybelline Color Sensational Collection isn’t always fantastic. I really want to love the lipsticks and I purchase them constantly but seriously the formula needs a revamp.
Am I right?
I did so indulge though as these are on BOGO so I got one for around six bucks and a second at three dollars. Not a bad deal. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like them.
You NEED these.
These come in a square shaped tube with a slanted sponge applicator. The applicator deserves mentioning since it saturates well with color and applies product beautifully. There are so many nice glosses around but I find an applicator can make or break that formula. Maybelline did an excellent job with the fuller sponge they provided to apply and it has a nice slant so it saturates well with color.
Now there are a slew of glosses at the drugstore to choose but I think there is a lack of opaque shades. Out of the four shades I tried from the Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss Collection all four delivered excellent color pay off with an opaque finish. The colors all offer excellent pigmentation with as little as a single stroke. No need to build colors up as they have color pay off at first application.
I do this the shine factor is exaggerated as I’d say they have a high sheen but not a glossy or high shine finish. It was the one thing I was disappointed in, I wanted more shine. But outside of that the formula is excellent plus a little clear gloss on top gives them a little more pop.
The texture of the gloss is very smooth and plush. It doesn’t apply patchy nor does it have a sticky, tacky feel. Colors are vibrant and have a nice intensity to them. I got two shimmery shades and two creams and both had a nice hydrating feel with a decent wear of around three to four hours before needing a touch up. The colors aren’t so slick they slide around my mouth and the product wraps around lips nicely.

There is a nice range of twelve shades to choose from however, I have hopes they do more shades in the future because as any good beauty junkie, I love my variety. Each gloss is 5ML in size which is the equivalent of a MAC Lipglass at 4.8 ml which are $15 each.
Overall, Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss is an excellent drugstore pick. At around six bucks each for a ton of gloss with an opaque finish you can’t get a better deal. The lightweight texture wears very comfortably without a sticky feel. There are ton of glosses to choose from at the drugstore but these are some of the best I’ve seen in terms of pigmentation.

Excellent formula, great pigmentation, and a super texture overall make them a must have. It’s like a liquid lipstick with a far nicer formula than one!
Muse Approved for purchase.
I recommend picking up a shade or two.
