Tarte Girl Meets Gloss Maracuja Gloss Collector’s Set Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

This is a very early look at the Tarte Girl Meets Gloss Maracuja Gloss Collector’s Set launching for Holiday 2012 at QVC. If you recall, last year, QVC offered some amazing deals on Tarte Sets for the Holidays. So, I for one, was excited about what QVC had in store for us this year.

And it’s this awesome set of five full size Tarte Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Glosses!

Take a look!

This contains five full size Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Glosses which are 0.11 oz each and typically retail for $21 per gloss. What’s also nice about the set is the shades are exclusive to this gift set so you can’t get them in the general catalog. Nifty eh?

I’m unsure if the colors have been released in prior QVC sets so just double check your stash to be sure you don’t already own them. I checked my own and didn’t run across any of the colors, all were brand new to me.

The glosses typically have a floral wrapper design around their tubes but for the holidays they match up with the Tarte Holiday 2012 packaging and feature a festive gold Moroccan design.

Ready for the value? At $21 each times five you’re looking at over $100 worth of gloss. But you get all five for $34.50 when they launch on QVC. Crazy right? I don’t have confirmed shipping yet but even if they charged $5.95 for shipping it’s still a bargain and a half!

If you aren’t into thicker, sticky glosses these probably won’t appeal. I’ve personally made my peace with such a formula since it always makes my lips look fuller, glossier, and all pouty-like plus sticky glosses typically have a longer wear time.

Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Glosses feature all these characteristics. They are thicker glosses with a sticky, tacky texture. The glosses vary from transparent to opaque depending on the shade.

Each gloss has a click pen with an attached brush applicator. I find they are more travel friendly thanks to the brush applicator but some folks aren’t so keen on such an applicator due to bacteria. I just wipe them off after each use. One thing that deserves mentioning is it takes a ton of clicks to get the gloss flowing your first time. I got a little frustrated with this as I was clicking and clicking and clicking and the gloss wasn’t flowing. Don’t think the applicator is broke, it just takes a hot minute to get it going.

Tarte glosses are normally quite thin with a shorter wear time so Maracuja Gloss is definitely a turn around for the brand. The formula is paraben and mineral oil free as well.

This shade selection is a mixed selection as some shades are transparent, others a bit milky, and others opaque. I really loved Preppy and Chic. Both were opaque and Chic is a nice MLBB (my lips but better) rosy shade.

Overall, Tarte Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss is a fairly great gloss but so long as you don’t mind thicker, stickier glosses. The value is extraordinary here even after QVC shipping charges. Another great pick from Tarte for Holiday 2012.

I heard Ulta is going to have the Maracuja set for Holidays too! But it’s 15 of them (about half sized) in a tube packaging for $32 which is totally worth it too!

  • Diane

I got one of these in the achiote gift set and didn’t love it but the value on this warrants a second shot!

  • Jen_M_sunshine

These colors look SO pretty on you! They all just suit you! So jealous! I have very pigmented lips so have a very hard time with lip colors. Not a fan of sticky gloss so finally something I can pass on! I do like mally,s formula though and saw your post abt her holiday set….nuts! I got one of hers free w new beauty test tube…I could become a gloss convert

    • the Muse

aw thanks jen! <3! Ohhh for very pigmented lips you def need mally's ;-D they are true color pay off, amazing shades! ;-D I love love love those. They are a liquid lipstick slash gloss hybrid. Gorg!

  • Sudeki

I always love tarte lip gloss, haven’t tried their new line, but the shades look pretty much the same on your lips

  • Kate

OMG, these are tempting me. I, too, have learned to embrace the stickier glosses because I like how “extra plump” my lips look with that kind of formula.

I usually spend most of my make up budget on UD and BE, but I am starting to entertain thoughts of cheating. lol.

And your face looks just so darn pretty in these photos. Aside from the gloss (which looks beautifully lush) your entire make up look is super-duper flattering. I’m girl crushing on ya big time, Missy!

    • the Muse

same here kate also I find sticky gloss lasts a heck of a lot longer on my lips! hehe ;-D cheat cheat cheat! AWWW kate I heart ya! Your comments make my day brighter ;D

  • Jennifer

I got a sample size of one of these glosses months ago. I really like it. I don’t think they are that sticky actually – they feel very comfortable on the lips. I’m not actually a gloss person but it sounds like a great deal for the price!

  • catazure

Not my thing – I don’t like the tacky glosses at all. I have the achiote that Diane mentioned and rarely wear it.
Buxom glosses have been my favorite now that Lancome doesn’t offer its lip-plumping series…..
BTW, Muse – you do the best job of showing colors. I wish Sephora did half as well, it would reduce my returns by at least half!

    • the Muse

god that’s great to hear catazure! I’m not a great photographer so I do worry that the colors are off or not presented well to readers 🙂 <3! thanks!!! On that note..I like buxom too but I miss the brush applicator, they seem to have replaced them all with sponges :-/

        • the Muse

aw thanks majick sometimes NOT so much sadly 🙁 I wish I had more natural light to work with for you guys! 🙁

  • Kiss & Make-up

I don’t like the packaging, but that aside I do love the colors and the finish. They all look great!

  • OrangeLipstickBlog

They look really great on you and this is a good value but I just HATE those kind of applicators! Pass!

  • Majick

THese really look pretty. How come there is no picture of your pretty lips wearing “bubbly”? Could it be that it’s because you’re sending it to me? har har

  • Karena

Thanks so much for the review!! I can’t wait for these to show up at the Q!! All the shades look great on you, Muse!!

    • the Muse

aw thanks karena <3!!!!!!!!!!!!! these are already at sephora chica and another set will launch on the Q for the holidays with other shades ;D

  • olivia

Hi Muse will this be sold anywhere else or is it just exclusive to QVC? I looked on Sephora’s website and didn’t see it there.

    • the Muse

it’s exclusive to qvc olivia, there are actually a few sets that are exclusive to qvc. some to ulta, and some to sephora….so it’s a big holiday release just certain products are available from certain places.
