Urban Decay Dangerous Eyeshadow Palette Holiday 2012 Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

The Urban Decay Dangerous Eyeshadow Palette ($36) is one of three new palettes introduced along with the Urban Decay Holiday 2012 Collection.

“New” can be used very loosely here since Urban Decay did already introduced a Dangerous Eyeshadow Palette back in Spring 2011. However, this new rendition contains the newly reformulated Urban Decay Eyeshadow Formula as well as revamped packaging.

Take a look!

The Urban Decay Dangerous Eyeshadow Palette contains six eyeshadows as well as a mini Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss.

Shades Included:

  • Gravity (deep violet with glitter)
  • Loaded (emerald)
  • Evidence (darkened navy blue)
  • Deeper (dark bronzey brown)
  • Mushroom (grey)
  • Ace (deep blue with shimmer)
  • Lip Junkie in Naked (nude, naked pink)

Evidence, Loaded, and Gravity

Ace, Mushroom, and Deeper

Dangerous is the more smoky of the three palettes introduced and my least favorite. It’s only my least favorite because these eyes just can’t pull off shades like this anymore.

However, the formula, as with all Urban Decay Eyeshadows, is something to celebrate. These offer excellent color pay off in a creamy, buttery smooth formula that glides onto lids flawlessly. I like the new formulation, it was actually more prominent in the Feminine Palette I recently review. But you can see a noticeable difference comparing this formula to older eyeshadows you may already own from Urban Decay.

The palette comes housed in a zippered wallet. It is completely removable as the shadows are housed in a sturdy cardboard tray. This is great for application (no extra bulky palette to worry about) and also great for recyclable purposes as once you use the shadows up you can toss the tray out and use the wallet to store money, makeup, etc…!

The Lip Junkie Gloss included is tiny but I absolutely love these glosses so they are a perfect companion to complete your look. You get Naked which is a nice nude rosy pink. These are a thicker gloss sans any sticky/tacky feel. They give lips a nice pouty appearance with a shiny finish and a hint of color.

Overall, if smoky and sultry is your look of choice, the Dangerous Palette offers an array of shades to pull if off. This is a nicely valued palette and will make an excellent gift purchase for friends or family this season. Especially love the wallet design which is completely reusable long after the eyeshadows are gone.

(Mushroom on Eyes, Naked on Lips)

I just went and bought Mushroom yesterday. That was the only thing I really wanted that’s a part of Holiday 2012 from UD, haha. Now I just need to depot it and get it into my free palette!

I love this but I feel it’s easily dupable in the Balm Shady Lady Palette #2 that I have. I love UD though and I hope to have the $ to try out some of their new shadow formula, and I haven’t tried any of their glosses yet!

Think the re-do is a plus. LOve the new zipper design on the palette. Lucky for me I have a lot of these colors already. I still wear the dark colors but limit my smokey eye looks these days as well. I”m sure I’ll do more in the fall. I tend to go darker eyes during the holidays.

I like the look of the Fun palette best but I’m just not sure I can dish out the money for it! But the zippered palette is sooo cute and I love the octopus!

I like the wallet design too. It’s what would push me over the edge to buy this palette 🙂

The smoked palette is a much better deal. You get 4 more shadows of the same size PLUS a full sized liner. Colors are similar and some are the same.

I have 5 of the 6 colors in this palette in my collection already so I don’t need it, but if I wanted a smoky eye palette I’d definitely get smoked.

Honestly, I’m really annoyed that UD is putting colors from the 15 yr anniversary palette in these new palettes. I thought once the palettes were gone, the colors would be gone forever too? At this rate, I doubt I’ll be buying anymore UD palettes especially if they have colors from the 15 yr palette.

I want fun! The other palettes don’t have colors I like (or I already have the shades in those palettes) But fun looks like a good selection and what a cute bag!
