Bare Minerals Night Vision Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliners Holiday 2012 Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Time to rock around the clock dears with the new Bare Minerals Night Vision Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner Set for Holiday 2012. This fab set includes 1 Full Size Round the Clock Eyeliner as well as 4 minis and a sharpener for creating perfectly festive looks for the Holidays.

And did I mention the sweet $29 price tag?

Bare Minerals Night Vision Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliners ($29) is one of two new eyeliner sets that Bare Minerals has launched for Holiday 2012.

Each set includes one Round the Clock Eyeliner in Midnight (0.04 oz), a classic black, with four mini liners (0.02 oz each) and a sharpener. Props for Bare Minerals for including a full size sharpener with the set. Seriously, how many liner sets can you name that’s are so thoughtful to include a sharpener outside of Urban Decay? Thanks Bare Minerals I appreciate it!

Now one of the most unique aspects in this set comes in the form of the shade 5 AM. This is a gorgeous liquid metal gold. I don’t have a shade like this in my stash and find it very unique and quite nice for festive Holiday looks.

The formulas on the liners is quite nice. Creamy, smooth, very easy to apply and smudge out plus on dry down (just a second or two after application) they set for all day wear so I have no issues with fading, flaking, or smudging on my drier eyes.

Shades included are:

  • Midnight (black)
  • 11 PM (charcoal)
  • 6 AM (plum) (exclusive)
  • 4 AM (aqua) (exclusive)
  • 5 AM (metallic gold) (exclusive)

5AM, 4AM, 11PM, Midnight, and 6AM

Midnight

6AM

5AM

4AM

Most of the shades lack and glossiness or sparkle and have a flatter, matte finish aside from 5 AM which has a metallic finish. There are exclusive shades here not available in the general catalog which allows the set to be an even greater temptation.

Two pencils would set you back $30 and this includes the equivalent of two fuller sizes. At $29 it saves you a dollar and you gain one extra mini pencil as well as a sharpener.

On the downside…the caps on the pencils seals really tightly which made them difficult to open at times. I had to really pull hard to get them off and even broke one of the pencil tips due to this. They are also extra soft so when I have to be careful when sharpening them to avoid the tip breaking off quickly.

Overall, it’s quite a nice set and under $30 which makes it an excellent price point for indulging. I think the tempting part of the set is definitely the exclusive shades particularly the gold which is stunning!

The set is available at Sephora, Sephora.com, Ulta, Ulta.com, and www.bareescentuals.com

Will you haul it?

Is the little pink thing in the sharpener for poking out the gooey sharpened liner? If so that’s brilliant @_@

  • Robin

Hmmm. May have to check it out in person. I was interested in the day set. I’m curious about the olive green in that set.

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

Those are SO flippin pretty! LOOK at the pigmentation!!! I need that purple shade…$29 is an awesome deal too! I really hope they are long-wearing on ME though. Many long-wearing liners are fine for most people but don’t hold up on my small oily lids :/

    • the Muse

ahhh becca I’m more of a drier girl myself…they might do well on oily lids though as they have a matte/drier formula!

  • Lorraine ER

The blue and gold or the purple and gold would look awesome together!

  • BLee

Awwww, those are nice colors. I do have some of the Round the Clock liners (5) and do love them. They are creamy, but once they set they are there ALLLLL day. So glad they added the sharpner…the white ones from ELF works also.

  • LINDARRAGNAR

that 5 am is such a stunner. I think that would look great with my blue eyes! I really don’t need anymore eyeshadows but perhaps I will get it, I will have some money seeing as how I finally got a job!!

  • Ivy Lively

Ugh I wish! Tempted to buy the whole set just for that gorgeous gold (it doesnt seem like a true gold, more of a beigey champagne which i LOOVE).. sigh so beautiful.

    • the Muse

yes it has that element ivy ;-D kinda reminds me of melted down gold…very pretty ;D

  • Tiffany Martin

These look pretty but my hands are weak so I don’t know that I would want to fight with the packaging, if it’s really bad like that it’s a skip for me.

  • OrangeLipstickBlog

OMG 4AM! Gorgeous! Although 6AM is closer to what I actually wear on the regular.

Not familiar with the Bare Minerals sharpener…what is the little pink thing by the hole?

    • the Muse

it’s a pick to remove the extra shavings as you sharpener, most eye pencil sharpeners have ’em 🙂

      • OrangeLipstickBlog

Ahh, awesome! I don’t have any super nice sharpeners, I suppose. I have a Grindhouse, though.

        • the Muse

grindhouse has the pick chica, right on the side ;-D slips right out. Most sharpeners have ’em, even drugstore, you might not have noticed ;-D I’ve purchased cheap as chips sharpeners from cvs/walgreens and they all have the little pick.

          • OrangeLipstickBlog

OMG, now I’m dying to get home and see if I can find a pick on the side. I have a Grindhouse a cheap one that I think is Revlon? I will look.

          • the Muse

lol you should find it, seriously, I purchased ninety nine cent sharpeners and they have it ;-D! hehe!

          • OrangeLipstickBlog

OMGGG I found it in both of my sharpeners! I can’t believe I never knew this. I feel really dumb!

          • the Muse

lol don’t….tons of folks never know what those picks are for ;-D most every eye pencil sharpener has ’em! see? find out something new everyday hehe!

  • Kim

I found these pencils to be really dry, which made them hard to apply evenly, when I tried them in the past. Have they improved them?

    • the Muse

kim I HAD the same issue when I got it in a qvc set! It was dry and hard to apply…seems formula improved. Cream, nicely pigmented, and applied very well.

  • Swims alot

The aqua is to die for. Only hope it won’t migrate from upper lid to lower. Funny I don’t think any of my sharpeners have a pick. I’ll have to check when my utilities come back on line.

    • the Muse

lol swims alot let me know about the sharpeners, you must but never noticed ;D

  • GK

Nice set, always willing to try waterproof pencils. Hopefully they don’t make my eyes tear. Happy Halloween!

  • Quinctia

The colors are cool, I’m bleh on the black and charcoal, though. I don’t wear much black eyeliner, yet still seem to have more than I ever need–and I don’t buy eyeliner sets.

The aqua and the gold look rather nice, though!

  • Anna

I went to my Sephora tonight just to get this and they’re not carrying it yet 🙁

  • Jasmine

They’re beautiful! I’ve had my eye on this set. How are they in the tight line and water line?

    • the Muse

fairly well for me jasmine although I don’t recommend the shades with sparkle on waterline or for tight lining.

  • missjadegreen

I think I HAVE to have this set!! I’ll be keen to see the other eyeliner set too.

  • Else

I actually bought this set just for the gold one.. 😀 The others are very pretty, but the gold one was the stunner!
