Be Safe!

Hey there!

I actually don’t have any new posts planned for today as I’m kinda doing hurricane prep work (taking in all my potted mums, hanging plants, outdoor furniture, and Halloween decorations). I’ll have new reviews upcoming shortly including coverage on Bobbi Brown Holiday 2012, BE Holiday 2012, and more…!

So sorry for the delay.

As for my fellow New Yorkers be safe, I know we’ll all be fine. Good luck braving the storm my thoughts are with you!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I was just checking your website to see how you fared and I saw that you’ve already posted a few things, so I’m happy you’re up and running and made it through okay! I’m not on Twitter or Facebook, so this is the only way I have to check on you. 🙂

        • the Muse

hey kb! I just replied to another of your comments ;-D all is well thankfully! <3! thank you for checking on me! lights are on, minimal damage, I was one of the lucky ones 🙂 Hugs!

  • Marlie

I live in Southern Ontario and we’re supposed to get the brunt of the storm as it comes up towards Canada. Brought all our outdoor things in this morning and going to get new batteries/flash lights soon. Thank goodness for my stash of BBW candles! My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in your area. Stay safe!

  • Kiss & Make-up

Omg that’s scary… :-/ At least there’s one good thing about living in Belgium: no hurricanes. Be safe! XXX

  • Brooke

Did all my prep yesterday. Crossing my fingers that it won’t get too messy. It’ll be over soon.

    • the Muse

brooke you ok? All worked out well here, lights still on, minimal damage thank goodness!

  • Susan K

Oh no! Stuck inside all day (I’m in MD) with no new posts to read?! How am I gonna keep myself amused? Well, I could always do housework but whatever lol. Good luck riding out the storm.

  • kimkats

Take Care Muse! Been thinking about you, and hoping all will be well. My brother lives in NJ about 25 miles NE of Trenton and he said he’s been without power for a while, and expects to be for a while longer.

*keeping fingers and toes crossed that you will be ok!*

    • the Muse

oh no kim! they are saying 4 to 10 days for those without power I hope that’s not the case in NJ! I hope he’s ok! keep me informed. All went well here, very little damage, lights still on…the city is on lock down though no trains, no buses etc…!

  • Marla

I feel so sorry for the people in the path of this storm. We have lived through so many down here in the southeast where I live.

    • the Muse

thank you marla! I’m a ok! We are NOT prepared for this type of thing in New York. It was quite scary!

  • Michou

Juuuuust starting to get bad here in Jersey City (NJ), but luckily we planned it out like crazy and we have everything we need. My job is definitely shut down for at least two days, but sadly my husband still has to go to work. They have hotels set up for employees though which is excellent… just sucks that I’ll probably be without him for a few days.

Hope you’re doing alright! And please, take your time on the posts.. the most important part is that you’re safe and sound!

    • the Muse

michou you got the brunt of it is everything ok over your way!?!?!? I hope you’re alright and didn’t have too much damage. same to you same to you! Compared to Jersey our damage and part of the storm was minimal….!

      • Michou

Sooo, seven days later we still don’t have power at our house. I think I might go a little mad. One of the very few upsides (besides loving family and friends who have sheltered us through this) is that our actual damage was limited. Jersey City is just trying to put almost the ENTIRE city back on the grid. Can’t blame the workers though, I see them working ceaselessly to get us back with power.

One cool thing was that I was able to score the original Sephora + Pantone palette for 17 dollars at Sephora!

        • the Muse

wow jeez michou I’m so so sorry! 🙁 do you need anything? can I do anything? do use my contact form if I can somehow help! yay awesome! but still very sad you have no power jeepers I hope you get it soon!

          • Michou

Heya honey! After 8 days I came home to check on things to find our power had been turned on early this afternoon! I literally jumped for joy!

Can’t wait to catch up on the billions of makeup blogs on my google reader (including yours, of course) and find out about all the lovely things that will help make this all feel like a distant nightmare.

          • the Muse

omg thank god! you’ll have heat/internet/etc…! thank goodness! I’m so happy to hear it michou! It so so cold today so I’m glad to hear it. lol <3! I look forward to hearing from you now that power is back ;-D <3!

  • Angela

Good luck to you, Muse – I hope it goes by without notice. Sending good vibes your way!

  • BLee

And ours are with you, too. You stay safe and sound as well. Here in NE Ohio it’s not been very nice…got the storm hitting here, too …its been raining here for over 2 days and now the 80 mph winds from the storm…yikes!

    • the Muse

blee those winds scared me so so so much! I wasn’t worried about the rain as it was very little rain but the trees combined with the wind really terrified me. i hope you got through it with minimal damage please keep me posted and let me know you’re ok!

  • OrangeLipstickBlog

Your safety is, of course, far more important than anything beauty related. I hope you, your animals, friends, & family are all safe and come out of the storm with little to no damage! You’re in my thoughts! <3

  • Patricia Couto

Muse, do you will review the BareMinerals vision in velvet set?? There aren’t any swatches of this set in the web and I am curious about it! Thank you!

    • the Muse

  • LINDARRAGNAR

  • Julia

I’m right there with you! I’m actually a high school student so it’s pretty awesome because we dont have school for two days. But the wind is picking up pretty quickly. Stay Safe!

    • the Muse

thanks julia hope you made through a ok! no school is awesome but def didn’t want it this way right? 🙂

      • Julia

definitely didn’t want it to be this way, it’s awful because we made it out fine, just a small leak in the ceiling but many of my friends have flooded houses and cars and no power. I hope you made it out safely! How was it by you?

        • the Muse

gosh so sorry to hear that julia! no problems here at all. lights are on, minimal damage, some of my mum beds got torn up and a few tree limbs and TONS of leaves in my drive way but nothing I need to complain about, could have been a heap worst. i was worried about a rather huge tree in my back yard but luckily it braved well!

  • Jackie Diane

I keep watching the news and thinking about you Muse as you’re the only one I ‘know’ in that area! Be safe and I look forward to your return!

      • Jackie Diane

Glad you’re back! But even more glad everything is okay! How fortunate!

        • the Muse

indeed! I was one of the lucky ones I wish I can say everyone else fared as well but so many people without lights or suffering from major storm damage so so sad 🙁

        • the Muse

mine too iris, flower beds got torn up, lots of leaves..did a ton of clean up yesterday but hey if that’s the only thing I have to bitch about I’m pretty damn lucky!

    • the Muse

thank you aqua! i’m a ok! compared to others I think I def lucked out..power is on, not many trees down, phew! that was some storm!

    • the Muse

angelic I hope you made through a ok! so sorry you lost power 🙁 pretty intense eh? city is on lock down…no buses, no trains, parkways closed, insane!

  • Butakimu

I hope you’re safe Muse! Been keeping up with the news and Sandy is one intense storm!

  • Nuisance

Hope you’re okay up there! I’m in FL and used to hurricanes but they are always frightening. Stay safe!!

    • the Muse

thank you nuisance all is well thankfully! It’s now very calm out. trains, buses, etc are all cancelled and the city seems like its in lock down mode but looks like we made it safe and sound! Phew!

    • the Muse

thanks amy…where are you guys? hopefully no where near the east coast as your trip might be girl interrupted due to the insanity sandy left behind!

      • Amy Amethyst

We are in Nebraska right now and headed to IL. We’ve been in TX and surrounding states so thankfully we weren’t near Sandy. Hoping they send up back west next!

        • the Muse

thank goodness! I can just imagine being on the road with all this chaos going on!

  • Jen_m_sunshine

Hey Muse, Sounds like you are okay – was thinking of you yesterday! Hope that rest of the family didn’t encounter any major threat or damage to homes etc. Take care this week!

    • the Muse

thank YOU so much for having me on your mind Jen! everything is fine thank goodness! friends, family, etc..everyone is good! I wish I can say the same for some people I am having about on the news 🙁 it was bad out there!

  • Lulle

I’m glad to see you’re ok! I was thinking of you yesterday.
I hope everyone will be able to fix their things and life will resume soon!
I’m happy to be on the West coast these days…

    • the Muse

hey lulle thank you dear! all is well here. did a major yard clean up yesterday but aside from that I was very lucky. I feel terrible for those who had so many issues particularly flooding/trees down 🙁

  • blueraccoon

glad you’re okay muse! My parents are in northern NJ and are okay but without power; theirs went out last night and I have absolutely no idea when they’ll get it back. I’m hoping for tomorrow but it may not be until Thurs or Fri or later 🙁 But no damage, no flooding, so that’s the good news.

    • the Muse

hey blue I sure hope your parents get power back soon. They keep saying 5 to 10 days but I noticed a few folks already got it back so maybe it won’t be so long now. thank god no flooding/damage but lights out is just as irritating!

  • cat

My lights just came on a few hours ago. It’s been an awful last few days without lights or heat but thankfully I was out of the path of the hurricane. Missed you, Muse!

    • the Muse

aw cat I am so happy to hear it. the lights are ok but being without heat that’s really really hard 🙁 I’m glad you’re ok and warm now hopefully 🙂 <3! I missed ya back!
