Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Wembley Fragrance Oil Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

As you know Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab released a Fraggle inspired collection of fragrance oils recently. Not familiar with the Fraggles? OMG! You’re missing out. YouTube them, promise you’ll love them. They just don’t make children’s entertainment like this anymore.

I was excited to say the least when I heard the Lab was teaming up with the Jim Henson Company to create not only Fraggle blends but also Labyrinth ones. I’m curious if at some point they’ll do a Muppet Collection or even a Dark Crystal one (how awesome would that be? Doctor Bunsen Honeydew would obviously smell amazingballs right?).

I recently reviewed Gobo for you and I thought that Wembley would be the perfect follow up to that review since he is Gobo’s BFF.

P.S. Congrats to my reader Michou. She wrote me today to say she got a job and today’s her first day. She was unemployed for a little bit so it was with great happiness, joy, and relief that I read her e-mail today! I hope you’ll join me in wishing her much success!

Take the jump for my review.

Wembley isn’t my favorite Fraggle by any means but he has his own peaceful personality that endears him to the show as he’s always about keeping the peace. I’m like that. I see the good in any situation and I’m always trying to keep people calm and happy.

His blend is weird and I actually don’t like it on my own body chemistry. That’s the joy of Lab oils though! They will smell differently on everyone so even though Wembley doesn’t work on me it doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t work on you!

Oils come in a 5ML vintage style alchemy vial. Webley’s little face is plastered on a small label across the vial. His notes feature white musk, banana, orange blossom honey, pineapple, and mint. I get a ton of banana at first sniff but upon dry down many of the fruity notes are killed due to a dominating white musk that permeates the blend. In some ways Wembley reminds me of the Bpal Oil, Manila.

He’s a bit tropical, kinda like walking through a rain forest and catching the scent of large palm trees and ripe bananas on the breeze. This is very pleasant as sniffed in the bottle but my issue was with the white musk dry down which kills the pineapple, mint, and banana in the fragrance.

Sad sigh! This one didn’t work out for me in the end. I prefer Gobo 🙂

Wembly and the entire Fraggle Fragrance Oil Collection is available now at www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com

Have you tried any of the oils yet?

Do share!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Will you be picking up any of the Halloweenies? I’m trying to narrow down my list and will probably wait til some reviews are up for my final decision. I’m considering The Lurid Library, Pumpkin III, Mango Infused Pumpkin Chai Latte, and Witch Dance.

Congrats, Michou! Good luck with your new job !

I’ve never tried fragrance oils. Do you just apply them to pulse points? I’m intrigued by The Last Unicorn collection — one of my favorite books and movies ever!!! Also love the description of Sugar Skull.
