Boots No7 Poppy King Rain Drops Lip Crayon Review & Swatches

Poppy King has teamed up with Boots No7 to create her new Rain Drops Lip Crayon. These launched mmmm, I’d like to say Summer 2012 in the UK but it could be Spring. Don’t quote me there. I did originally blog them on the launch in the UK but I never actually tried them.

I’m happy to report though that the Boots No7 Poppy King Rain Drops Lip Crayons have launched here in the US.

Take a look!

This is Poppy’s second mainstream collection in collaboration with Boots No 7 and Target as a few months ago she released No7 Lipgloss and Lipstick.

Supposedly these Lip Crayons are already available at Target stores as of August 26th but I haven’t yet caught a glance of them in my stores however, perhaps I wasn’t looking hard enough!

These chubby pencils are $9.99 each and available in five shades. It’s nice to have a budget version of Poppy’s Chinatown Glossy Pencil as you can get two of these for the price of one of the Chinatown Pencils!

These are a little bulky since they have a large attached sharpener on the top of each pencil. Not really a huge issue but it does add some bulk to it when carrying around in a makeup bag. The formula is disappointing compared to Chinatown’s glossier texture and finish. They carry more of a balmy-ness to them with a thicker texture and feel on lips. They won’t win any awards for being lightweight that’s for sure. The color I tried, Dancing, produced a nice tint to lips with sheer to medium coverage depending how many swipes I used.

Shade: Dancing

Overall, I wasn’t particularly fond of these considering the success I had with the gloss and lipstick Poppy did for No 7 prior these pencils. You’ll like them if you’re ok with a balm-y lip color that’s a bit heavy and lacks shine. I wanted something more glossy with perhaps a hint of tint but nothing too dramatic. These deliver more of a color rich experience in a heavier formula with no shine.

Available now at Target locations as well as online at Target.com or www.shopbootsusa.com

I liked these a lot! But the pencil format has proven them to be annoying to carry around so I haven’t used them much…I really like the formula, I consider it more of a gloss than a balmy sort of product so it kind of works :).

As for when these hit Target, I got mine in August and I have seen them around a lot since then…so they at least have been in California for a while…

damn wish I felt the same tammie 🙁 formula just wasn’t what I expected le sigh!

I haven’t tried the Chinatown ones, but I can see how you’d be disappointed. I guess I was expecting more of a gloss stick situation, which I got and I am really enjoying balms that are more gloss sticks than anything. Just wish these were twist up and I’d really love them.

I don’t see these on target.com anywhere and I haven’t seen them in the stores either.

haven’t seen them in store either jennifer you can buy directly from boots us if you’re eager to try! 🙂

It looks cute. And almost tasty, lol 🙂 I personally don’t like to put too much focus on my lips, so maybe I’ll like this. You say it’s more like a lipbalm with some color, and that’s what I like, really.

I’ve never seen these at Target and I LOVE me some Target shopping (you can always get amazing printable coupons for makeup off their website too, sorry off topic) but I’d be willing to give these a try IF I ever come across them!

Hey Muse! I just HAD to tell you about the new Sonia Kashuk palette at Target if you haven’t got your hands on it yet… it’s great quality, 12 shadows for $20, and the 4 shadows in the middle are perfect dupes for the Cargo Metallico palette shadows that I remember you loved and said you got a back-up of! (They are not the same exact colors
but same exact same formula, exact same shimmer / finish)! It’s the Eye On Dazzling Color palette 🙂

    • the Muse

hey ana yeah I saw it 🙂 unfortunately that’s the shimmer formula in all of the quads and seasonal palettes and i really don’t feel they have the same pigmentation as the cargo palette sadly 🙁 but it’s a really nice looking palette for sure 🙂
