Chanel Reverie Natural Loose Powder Holiday 2012 Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

I’ve come across some great finishing powders to love this Holiday season one of which is Chanel’s Natural Loose Powder in Reverie ($52). With great sadness I’ll have to wave goodbye to Reverie once the Holidays are over as this is a limited edition shade that is releasing with the Chanel Holiday 2012 Collection.

I’m considering a back up at this point in my Holiday makeup life.

Reverie is a limited edition shade released with Chanel’s Holiday 2012 Collection. It’s the perfect addition to their Holiday Collection since shimmer is all the rage during the Holiday Season.

This is a universally flattering shade of Rosy Golden Beige that should work on most skin tones. It has gorgeous flecks of gold in the mix that create an ethereal sparkle on skin. The powder itself is a light coverage, matte finish setting and perfecting powder that will even out skin tone, set makeup, and create a glow on skin that will disguise minor imperfections or finer lines. The powder is silky and finely milled and looks smooth and even on my drier skin.

I realize not everyone is a fond fan of shimmer on facial powder but I thought the flecks of gold in the powder a delightful addition to a facial powder that can be used around the Holiday. Who doesn’t love a bit of festive shimmer around the Holidays? Just use it with a lighter hand for the best finish.

Overall, Reverie is truly a gorgeous color with just the right amount of cheerful, gold Holiday sparkle! The setting powder itself carries a luxurious feel and finish even on my drier skin. That added addition of gold shimmer might just be what seals the deal for you!

Gorgeous!

I’d pick it up if I were you.

Available at Chanel counters shortly or chanel.com for a limited time.

What sort of sparkling highlighting powders have caught your eye this season?

This looks very promising and I think it looks like it’ll be my first Chanel makeup product! Just a question though: is it even a shade too dark for someone who’s around NC15? The one thing I have to have in my face products is something that is the same as my skintone. Thanks Muse!!!!

    • the Muse

I’m not sure rawr, I don’t use mac foundation and don’e really know there shades very well, it’s transparent for the most part….if that’s any help!?

  • Beth

    Hi Muse!

Do you like this or Dior’s Holiday 2012 Loose Powder in Gold Dust better? They look similar!

    • the Muse

if you want more shimmer the chanel is the way to go, subtle glow the dior is better beth. I like both equally and purchased a backup of the Dior one and waiting on my local counter to get reverie in stock so I can grab a back up as well ;-D great powders, both!

    • Nawi

I did not know which one to get either i finally chose the chanel one is more festive and you get a lot more moneys worth chanel cost less with 30 grams in the pot and dior only has 16 grams and is more expensieve hope this helps!

  • Sweta

    Hi Muse

This is freaking gorgeous..I am too confused in this or the dior one..though I think I am liking this a lil better..can you tell me if this would work on brown skin as well?

    • the Muse

depends sweta, they are transparent but they might be a little pasty on darker skin. You might want to swatch on counter just to be safe as I’ve known some transparent finishing powders to go terribly wrong sometimes :-/

  • Sweta

oh thanks muse..any idea where is this available at the moment as I cannot see it on Macy’s or Nordstorm website? Also do you have any idea how the finish of this powder is different than the Guerlain meteorites perles du dragon finish? Are you planning to review that?

    • the Muse

sweta, I noticed nordstrom had it up briefly last week and it disappeared, I believe if you head in store it’s available but just call your local counter to double check. I haven’t seen it online yet either other than that brief second at nordstrom 🙂 I’m unsure, I prob won’t be reviewing those this year 🙁 Sorry! I’m kinda meteorites out at the moment feel like I have too many to indulge 🙁

aw sweta my pleasure really..it’s always hard to recommend things to people with a different tone or skin type, like I’m dry and sometimes people ask for recs for oily skin, that’s so hard because I really don’t have the issue ;-D I def try to help anyway I can but you know how it is, results will vary and all that yada yada ;-D aw thank you so much. • the Muse

OOOO wow! very exciting! 😀 I’ve always wanted to visit India but never have! gotta admit shahrukh khan has always been a fav of mine! as he gets older he gets better ;-D although some of his recent projects aren’t so great 🙁 but I love his older films! I bet!!!!!!!! maybe someday ;-D

  • Lisa

My heart actually flutters over Chanel powders. Is this one like Feerie? That was really too glittery for me. I also think there is a pink cast loose powder coming out. Do you know about that one?

  • christina

is this Chanel powder anything like Chanel loose powder that came out of few years ago called Peche (#40)?

  • Lauren

Would this be good for highlighting? Not allover, but maybe just cheekbones, brow bones, etc? I bet it would last forever that way.

    • the Muse

mmm yes on darker skin tone but if you’re fairer might not show up great as highlighter

      • Lauren

I’m very fair, so maybe not so much, eh? I just got into Chanel (I’m kind of cheating on Bobbi) and I want to buy f-ing everything! It’s a sickness. 🙂

  • Lauren

I know, right? Seriously, I duck into the chair with my head down at the Chanel counter so that Laura at Bobbi doesn’t see me. But I’ll tell you what: those Chanel products are like magic. I’m still looking for a Chanel highlighter though… Oh, also: that vampy Holiday L’Impatiente lipstick (in another post) looks GORGEOUS on you. Like, maybe the prettiest lipstick ever. You should use it to get over your matte aversion. 🙂

    • the Muse

lol lauren I hear ya ;-D aw thank you! really a GREAT shade do check our the dior lippies too, so lovely!!!!!!!!!!!! lol I wish, no matte has yet to sway me that fully girl! <3!
