Cinderella So This is Love Eau de Parfume Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

The enchanting Cinderella Collection by Sephora has launched online and in many stores and along with it the new So This is Love Eau de Parfume.

Sephora dubs this a mesmerizing, dazzling scent inspired by Cinderella herself. I’ve come to associate the scent of Cinderella with Lush’s Cinder Bath Bomb…spicy, cinnamon, with a hint of woodsy smoke in the background. Weird how scent works right? I can’t get that scent out of my head as what Cinderella would possibly smell like. Of course, that would be when she was still living in her evil Stepmother’s house….

What would her scent be when her fairytale came true and she lived happily ever after with her Prince?

Perhaps So This is Love captures that dream?

Housed in a round cut crystal glass bottle reminiscent of Cinderella’s Glass Slipper this fragrance is full of light, floral notes.

It’s not my scent of choice to be honest as it’s too heavy a floral for me to enjoy however, I imagine some will enjoy it. It actually has a fresh cucumber-like scent at first spritz but a dominate note of fresh Aldehydes, plumeria, and hyacinth quickly come to attention quickly. For me the scent evokes walking through a newly planted garden in the Spring.

The heart of the fragrance is the tiare flower which you’ll catch faint wisps of as the scent dries down this is accompanied by a supple musk accord and a delicate woodsiness.

For me, the scent is a little too mature. It lacks youth, fun…and leans towards being more matronly, like something my grandmother or an old aging Aunt might enjoy but not something I’d associate with the vibrancy and happily ever after I associate with Cinderella.

Scent is a personal choice though. Those who enjoy lighter floral fragrances could possibly enjoy this. I’m more about sweet, fruity blends myself.

So This is Love didn’t evoke images of Cinderella, the Prince, and her happily ever after but it just might for you!

Try it out at Sephora.

I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the scent.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. I stopped by my local Sephora and they didn’t have ANY of the Cinderella stuff out yet. I’m eyeing that compact lol!

Get it! Get it! I’ve just done a quick post on my blog. Not only is it even prettier in person but it actually has a nice weight to it and seems well-made.

“something my grandmother or an old aging Aunt might enjoy” LOL….so this is the “fairy godmother” perfume?? heehee

    Hmm…i’m not really a floral person either…

I spritzed it on at Sephora the other day and my bff and boyfriend couldn’t stop sniffing me when we went out to eat dinner! It was really awkward LOL

Although I got their attention I don’t think I’ll be getting it since I don’t really like dainty princess fragrance scents. I’m all about drama!!

I don’t get “floral” really from this perfume. The aldehydes make is smell like plastic. I told the woman at Sephora who gave me a sample that it “smells like a Barbie when you take it out of the box.” Which it does. I wore it around for the evening, by dinner, I was pouring sparkling mineral water on a napkin to get the smell off my wrist. After a while it’s just stomach churning…humans shouldn’t smell like this. I left the sample in my car, because other than “New toy” it also kind of smells like “new car.”
