KATE Powderless Liquid for Cover Foundation Review & Swatches

KATE Powderless Liquid for Cover Foundation, odd name I know, something got lost in translation here, is a newly launched semi-matte finish foundation product from the Japanese brand that’s a liquid formula that’s supposed to turn into that of a powder within 15 seconds of application.

I typically don’t like cream to powder products but I was interested to try this after seeing swatches online as the formula looks quite nice.

Here are some of my thoughts!

KATE Powderless Liquid for Cover Foundation has a gel-like texture with a runny consistency that applies easily onto skin creating a nice flawless finish. It contains SPF 20 and I noticed no issues with the foundation including any pastiness associated with higher SPF foundations.

I was worried about the cream to powder finish since I find these formulas accentuate dry areas on my face. I actually didn’t feel like this was your average, run of the mill cream to powder finish that I’ve come to know in foundation products. The hydrating liquid-y gel texture is refreshingly lightweight with a hydrating feel and finish on my skin. I didn’t really notice the powder-y dry down in the least. I didn’t feel like powder nor did it look like it on my skin. It just provided smooth, even coverage that any liquid foundation would.

My skin adapted to this very well as I had all day coverage without fading issues or oxidation. I’d call coverage sheer to medium. You need to build a little for the best medium coverage so do take time out to build it up for a complete finish. It eased my dullness and created a beautiful canvas for my makeup without looking like I had foundation on at all.

I believe it comes in six shades total. I choose one of the darker shades as I always find Japanese foundations in the lighter range are a little too yellow for me. The shade OC-D was a little dark for me but powder evened it out perfectly.

The longer I wore it the more I noticed that the finish does resemble that of a powder. It isn’t dewy and has that just applied perfect finish of a powder but not so noticeable that it looks like I just dusted powder on, if that makes any sense.

Overall, Kate Powderless Liquid for Cover Foundation is a delightful little foundation product. If you desire the ease of a liquid foundation application with the finish of a luxurious powder I’d suggest checking it out. It gives my skin a natural, soft focused look that’s quite flattering once makeup is applied! Although I must say if you suffer from acne, acne scarring, or need a full coverage foundation to conceal issues, I wouldn’t suggest it as the color does build to a medium finish but it takes a little work to get it there.

Likey!

I got it directly from Japan for around $14 I think? However, some of my favorite shops like AdamBeauty.com sells it.

Tried it?

Do share!

I purchased this item.

I will be checking in to this. I already love Asian BB Creams (Missha Perfect Cover and Cho Bo Yang) so I am on this! Thanks for the great review. 🙂

Do you think this would work on oily skin? I get occasional acne but not much. I’m very, very oily, though.

should be fine kaitlin, dries down to a satiny finish, not dewy at all…mind you if you’re very oily it’s not going to mattify all that extra oil completely so perhaps set with more powder!

Ooh, will check this out at our local Watsons store. I hope it’s available in my country now. It’s been a long time since I commented here. Hope you’re doing well, Muse :3

I would like to purchase but not sure about which color to choose. I am about nw20 and nc15 as winter rolls around and also prefer a yellower tint like NC from mac because it cuts the redness. What do you suggest?

I’m very pale and Kate BB cream was too dark for me, so I was wondering if I should buy the Powderless in bright up-shade BR-C or OC-B. Do you know if OC-B would suit MAC NC10 skintone?

unfortunately you won’t be able to find it at retail fey. You can try the site I listed which as close to retail as you’ll get unless you are shopping in Japan.

I use this foundation and it’s perfect!!! I switched from an American brand because I feel like it’s too heavy and always gives me breakouts as I have hypersensitive skin. Now, I’m using Kate Tokyo powderless liquid for cover and don’t get those breakouts anymore! The coverage is also just right for me, I can get the “no make up/ fresh” look everyday.
