L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream is a water based moisturizer that’s supposedly a triple threat which attacks wrinkles, brightens skin, and evens skin tone. Immortelle essential oil stimulates collagen production to fill wrinkles and firm the skin as Bellis Perennis extract and a Vitamin C derivative reduce the appearance of age spots to even skin tone.

As for me, I was highly interested in trying this as I wanted to address dullness while brightening skin and evening out skin tone.

Did it work?

This is a thicker gel-like formulation that absorbs easily into skin and delivers excellent hydration. It could prove a little rich if you have oily or combination skin so you might want to use it as a PM moisturizer where as dry skin users will find it works perfectly well for both AM and PM use. It leaves my skin very soft after use. It does have a strong herbal scent (kinda reminds me of something from Lush just can’t pinpoint what) so sensitive types might want to sniff prior to indulging. The floral oil also might be problematic for skin that easily breaks out so be aware of this prior to a purchase.

Unfortunately, this is only good for a mere six months and the jar packaging shortens the life of the moisturizer even further. I was terribly disappointed that a $58 moisturizer had such a short life span.

I think as a daily moisturizer or even a evening one it does a fairly good job of providing hydration but sadly, the buck stops there. After using it for three months I don’t feel like my skin looks any brighter.

Overall, LOccitane Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream is an excellent moisturizer for providing drier skin with much needed hydration however, you probably don’t need to spend near $60 on something that excels at this and this alone. It may work for you but sadly, the brightening aspect wasn’t there for me plus add into the fact that this expires in a very short time period and it becomes a very expensive simple moisturizer to indulge in.

Sorry L’Occitane…this one didn’t cut it for me.

Anyone try?

I am currently using this as well. I bought it during a summer sale they had (I think I paid $48 CND for it, as it would normally cost about $70). I found it moisturizing enough as a night cream during the summer for my oily-combination skin, but as it gets colder my skin goes into the dry territory and I find I have to use more than I’d like. The thick gel consistency is nice and absorbs well, but for really dry skin it won’t be enough. As for the brightening… I know it takes time for it to show, but so far I don’t see any changes. I wasn’t aware of the 6 month expiry date though, so perhaps it’s good I’m using it quite quickly.

vanilla yeah check the back of the box you’ll see the six month expire 🙁 damn! nice texture here too, absorbs fast, good for daily use but no brightening which is one reason I wanted to like it!

Boo. No scents for me, thank you very much. Speaking of which…

Muse, I’m not sure if you ever get allergic reactions or other kinds of negative reactions to the products you test but other than halting testing of all products, what do you do to actually TREAT the problem? I’m particularly interested in remedies for flaky lips that have had a clear allergic reaction to a lip product and breakouts and dryness from bad skincare.

I’m not really sure cat…I don’t really have breakout issues with products tbh. perhaps a little vaseline? I swear by rosebud salve for chapped/dry/flaky lips!

Hi Cat–I had a reaction to the L’Oreal Balm (waaah!). It was two weeks before I wanted to use lipstick/gloss again. I felt like the edges of my lips were most affected. I used Vitamin E on my lips. I buy the pills and poke a hole with a pin and squeeze the oil out. Good luck!

Aw, too bad it didn’t deliver. I usually really like L’Occitane, especially their hand creams.

You’d think something named “Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream”, would do something besides moisturize…like make your skin brighter, or better yet, IMMORTALIZED (I’m imagining instantly younger looking, ala Brad Pit in Interview with the Vampire, when he’s transformed into a more perfect form of himself).

You might want to check this cream again as they just launched their newly reformulated immortelle line (although, yes the pricetag makes you think twice about it, even in France 🙁 ). Unfortunately, i had many occasions to try that line, and every time my skin turned into a desert, the application provoking redness and pimples. I think this is due to the main ingredient itself, a plant i now stay far away from.
