Lorac Bejeweled Take Two Eye Shadow Palette Trio Review & Swatches
Lorac Bejeweled Take Two Eye Shadow Palette Trio ($35) is a newly launched trio of eyeshadow palettes for Holiday 2012. This is Lorac’s second take on this trio as they introduced a similar collection for Holiday 2011.
No worries, although these quads look similar they are different enough to purchase should you desire them without the fear of having dupes from Holiday 2011.
I think one of the nicest things about the set is you can easily break it up. Each quad comes packaged in a jeweled compact and with three quads to choose from you can get three gifts from one purchase.
Nice right?
Each quad features four shades with a total of 0.25 oz/7.2g of shadow in the total compact. So you’re getting a good deal of product for your money here.
The compacts the quads come in are an elegant black lacquer with jewel embeds of either pink, topaz, or black. I’m a sucker for packaging and these are quite pretty.
You get a selection of three different color variations to create a variety of smoky looks. There’s Black Onyx for those who like navy/gray smoky looks, Champagne Diamond for the girls that like nude bronzey looks, and Pink Quartz that contains an array of pinks and roses.
I find Lorac has two different shadow formulas. One is their velvety, pigmented formula that can be found in palettes like Unzipped and Pro. And the other is more of a lighter, sheerer buttery texture. These quads feature the lighter formula.
Black Onyx
Pink Quartz
Champagne Diamond
The texture on these is soft, silky, and lighter. With a very smooth, easy to apply formula that blends fairly easily. I always find it challenging to contrast with a shadow formula like this so a little work is needed to use all four shades in the quad without colors blending together and creating a more muddy look. Primer is also essential to keep the shades from fading and disappearing. This is the type of formula I’d recommend for an older eye as they apply dreamy with very minimal effort or know how.
They aren’t comparable to eyeshadow formulas like Urban Decay or MAC and that’s perfectly ok because sometimes we all desire a no nonsense, softer eye look and these deliver that. The formula does run on the sheerer side but I had no issues building colors up for better intensity.
Overall, they don’t just make an excellent purchase for yourself but also one for friends and family. The $35 price tag puts them in a very sweet spot for gifting out or creating multiple gifts for beauty loving friends. Although the formula won’t appeal to everyone due to the sheerness of the shadows, I still think they make an excellent pick for soft, pretty, VERY wearable daily eye looks.
I’d recommend checking it out in store.
I think you’ll be pleasant surprised how much you love the set.
