L’Oreal Blinged & Brilliant Infallible Eyeshadow & Primped & Precious Review & Swatches

Blinged & Brilliant and Primped & Precious are two new, limited edition shades of L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow releases for Holiday 2012.

These are on a special display entitled the Diamond Collection and feature one other repromoted shade that’s part of the general catalog, Gold Imperial.

I didn’t originally purchase these shades when I saw them but I went back and grabbed them up to review.

Take a look!

Personally, I’d skip them. These two shades are one of the reasons I dislike L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve run into shades I absolutely adore but my love affair with these shadows came to a screeching halt when I realized how frosty and cakey they look on my lids sometimes.

You really have to sheer them down for the best possible wear and finish. Both Blinged & Brilliant and Primped & Precious are two such formulas that have that really caked on look when applied plus they look terribly frosty on me.

Needless to say you can spend several minutes sheering them down to a nice metallic finish but I find it too much work at times.

Blinged & Brilliant is sorta a lighter version of Amber Rush (beige peachy nude) and Primped & Precious is a sparkling grayish silver (great for smoky eye looks).

Personally, they really didn’t do much for me…! You might LOVE them though, it’s debatable. I think they are a little too frosty for my liking and as described above, other reasons I didn’t truly adore them….!

They are available now, for a limited time, at drugstores. I located them at Harmons.

Anyone pick them up?

Primped & Precious looks kinda cakey on your hand! Can’t imagine what it’s like on eyes! Eeek. Thanks for the review so I’ll know to avoid ’em.

my pleasure! I dunno, some of the shades are AWESOME but some are SO heavy 🙁

The silver swatched makes me think of metal shavings :'( I was hoping the biege might be like the limited edition Color Tattoo that looks similar, but doesn’t look like it :-S

I love the frosty and I find they go on well using just your finger. I am a fan of them all!! But they can make your lid to look wrinkly if you apply too heavy!!

Have you ever tried wearing them over UD Greed or Sin, I swear something about a sparkly/shiny primer seems to help me wear all of these no matter what.

      • Quinctia

It seems to add highs and lows kind of like UD’s shimmer shadows with the glitter, except less fall out, haha.

I also tend to wear these together and mix the couple of matte/satin ones with the shimmers.

The silver one, Primed and Precious, reminds me a little of Liquid Diamond but “Diamond” seems to be better quality than this. I think I’ll skip these two. Amber Rush is really nice though.

So agree that these are hit or miss. These are misses for me – I can’t do frosty.

  • April

Thanks for posting! I was tempted by these tonight, but passed. Can you tell me how the silver one compares to Liquid Diamond?

    • TrishB

April, I’ll pop in to say Primped is more of a true silver gray where Liquid Diamond has a definite lavender tone. I wore both of these new colors last night and got compliments on my eyes. The frost doesn’t bother me, but I used duo fiber brushes for application which generally gives a softer look.

IF I can find them, I will try them both. I have to say the Color Tattoos and the Infallibles are some of my favorite drugstore brands.

I picked these up just because I collect them all, so I had to have them, but I doubt I’ll use them much. The silver one does remind me of Liquid Diamond, though. I need to swatch those next to each other and see how they look.

  • Jaz

I will stick to liquid diamond… it can go either more lavender or more silver.

Normally, you have a strong influence on my purchasing decisions but I think this time, I’m going to stubbornly purchase Blinged & Brilliant anyway. I’ll just remember TrishB’s advice to either use a duo fiber brushes or a lighter hand as you say.

I have these in continuous cocoa and iced latte. Even tho i like the cocoa one much more i haven’t found the best way to apply it. Any suggestions?
