L’Oreal Project Runway The Muse’s Gaze Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
We are pretty deep into Fall now and honestly Holiday 2012 has over taken much of it but the L’Oreal Project Runway Fall 2012 Collection is just now starting to get a wider release in the New York area.
I originally came upon the collection at Harmons but I’m noticing that Walgreens has gotten huge displays as well as CVS. So if you’re still searching have no fear that the collection is sold out. Seems they are stocking up very slowly in some locations.
I picked up two of the eyeshadow quads one of which, The Temptress Gaze, I already reviewed for you. Today I thought I’d have a look at the Muse’s Gaze (ha, it’s named after me!) Eyeshadow Quad.
Take a look!
L’Oreal released four limited edition quads in this collection for $8.99 to $9.99 each depending where you shop it. I didn’t feel like the Temptress’ Gaze was particularly great quality but I did ok with it.
However, the same was not the case with the Muse’s Gaze.
I purchased this on a whim due to the name of my blog “Musings of a Muse”. Yeah, well, I always feel like I need any makeup named Muse, issues.
I personally feel like it’s a ridiculous selection of shades. On their own they might be very pretty but together its kinda like something a clown would buy. You got brassy gold here topped with coral and aqua and a deep forest green…my head hurts. How does even one create a look using all these together? It’s just sadly mismatched for my personal tastes and not something I’d considering using in a single look. Perhaps a single shade on the lid yes but not together.
Unfortunately, the formula is very weak here. I had ok success with the other quad I tried from the collection but this wasn’t as great. I found the shadows very dry and…grainy? Maybe I’m nuts. But fact is they were less than smooth. Pigmentation is fairly ok but the dryness results in a more subtle color pay off less a sponge applicator is used to build.
Overall, the mismatch of shades and poorer quality of the shadows made this a very poor purchase on my part. Hopefully you haven’t made the same mistake of purchasing it. I could perhaps overlook the mismatched shades if the quality was a little better but unfortunately it just seemed like a ton of different things were negatively stacked against this one.
No likey!
Which quads did you haul from the L’Oreal Project Runway Collection?
P.S. Did not like the Big Bang’s Halloween episode. They had the potential to do some AWESOME couple costumes and it just failed. I really was hoping for a silly Stewart and Raj couple costume…! And boo no couple costume for Leonard and Penny! Sheldon’s costume rocked and was funny but still wished it was more couple-ish! The only ones that really mad me laugh would be Howard and Bernadette.
P.S. What happened to Bernie’s voice?
