L’Oreal Something Shiny, Pretty Precious, Sparkle Frenzy Infallible Le Gloss Review & Swatches
L’Oreal introduced a few limited edition shades of Infallible Le Gloss for Holiday 2012. I purchased Something Shiny, Pretty Precious, and Sparkle Frenzy recently at Harmons however, I do tend to have a love/hate relationship with Infallible Le Gloss.
Take a look!
L’Oreal Infallible Le Gloss is definitely an odd formulation. In some cases I like it and in others I simply don’t….shrug I guess we all have those love/hate relationships with certain products.
These are a thinner gloss formulation with a silicone-like feel which wraps around lips. This texture actually works in the favor of the gloss since it proves quite long wearing without being sticky although I find the texture a tad odd. In most cases, Infallible Le Gloss almost always has an opaque, pigmented finish however, with some of the LE shades for the Holidays they went with a sheerer finish. I rarely see a ton of glossiness or shine so the formula is kinda a thinner consistency liquid lip color versus an actual gloss in the traditional sense. Each gloss has a doe foot applicator which is excellent at saturating well with color allowing for single swipe application as it layers color on easily.
Something Shiny (sparkling clear gold) and Pretty Precious (pale sparkling pink) are best used as overcoats as both provide tons of sparkle but no real color or shine. You will get a reflection of gold or silver on lips due to the sparkly formula however, this works best when used on top of lip stain or lipsticks. On their own they produce more of a mod ghastly look on my lips and when they fade away they leave behind an unflattering layer of shimmer. So def use with caution, I’d suggest as an overcoat for the best results.

Sparkle Frenzy
Sparkle Frenzy is the most pigmented of the three shades I purchased. This is a candy apple red with a touch of gold shimmer. It’s a very festive true holiday red. I typically don’t like shades of red like this as I prefer a touch more warmth but I can’t deny it is a very lovely shade for the holidays.
Overall, I don’t know if you absolutely need these colors. I find the formula mediocre sometimes and the lack of pigment on many of the colors in the collection makes them a little less appealing overall. If you must have them I’d wait for some sort of BOGO sale. I paid $7.19 each gloss but I imagine they’ll prove more expensive in drugstores like Walgreens or CVS which adds to their less then tempting appeal.
