Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo Review

Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo is the $h1t! Sorry there isn’t any other way to put it. This stuff is awesome in CAPS! Lush if you discontinue this I will have to cut you hard! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Don’t panic, it’s not yet available in the US but from my understanding it will be in November. I picked up a small bottle (like an idiot, I should have gotten a big bottle) from Lush UK recently and at first sniff it was not love but things quickly changed.

With honey, beeswax absolute, geranium, rose, bergamot and neroli this shampoo is like a field of flowers in a bottle. I purchased a small bottle as I don’t like the smell of honey. I find it, mmmm, I dunno strange and a little cloying however, Lush mixed it with a ton of florals note which makes it not only wonderful but easy on my nose too!

Dunno how long you’re a Lushie for but Aura Suavis was one of my favorite bubble bars back in the day! Around 2007, Lush created a shower gel in the scent for Forum members only. Needless to say I stocked up! Fair Trade Honey Shampoo brings some of Aura Suavis’ beautiful scent to my hair.

The combination of honey and a dominate geranium note definitely takes a note from Aura Suavis but Lush takes it further with rose and other floral notes that just blow my mind. The entire experience is like walking through a field of flowers with bees buzzing happily away in the background as they pollinate. But…at a sniff in the bottle, it’s disgusting. My nose kinda curled up sniffing it in the bottle and I could have easily tossed it aside because of this. It’s honey but also a bit of a sourness…don’t write it off though, try it in the shower, believe me, once it’s in your hair the scent becomes positively addicting!

The shampoo has a thick almost sticky texture (like honey) but it lathers up beautifully and rinses clean away. If you have color treated hair do be careful as I find Lush typically strips color badly. The scent of the shampoo lingers and lingers and lingers…! It has a nice throw too so you’ll likely get a comment or two asking what you washed your hair with.

As for me, I only wish they created a conditioner to go along with it…!

I need a large bottle, soon, like now, right away.

Muse Approved for purchase.

You MUST try it. It’s like perfume for your hair!

Available now from Lush UK and later this Fall from Lush NA.

P.S. Yes, I have a huge hunk of my hair next to my nose right now sniffing happily away! God, I love this stuff!

I purchased this item.

i so wish there were a Lush near me so i could smell before i buy 🙁

just a tentative on that kim. Lush shampoo has a tendency to strip color easily in my experience. I don’t dye my hair but I’ve had strips of color in my hair and man if there is anyway to get it out easily, Lush is the way to go lol! Especially Big, wow. that could wash anything out!

Probably because it is super natural and clarifying. Sadly I have way too much grey for a 33 year old so I have my hair colored all kinds of fun colors all the time. I pretty much have to stick to my Pureology shampoo and that’s about it.

aw don’t worry I have a few sprouting up lately lol! where do they come from!? I’m not ready for this ;-D Aw sorry, maybe request a sample in stock and just try a little on the tips of your hair and see how it works out ;D

          • Kimryan8

Good idea. You are really selling it to me with the way you describe the smell. I like that it is perfume for your hair! Thanks Muse, have a great insurance day!

LOL I heart you! have a great insurance day haha ;-D actually I am having one, just wrote two new businesses hehehe <3! thanks that made my day hehe!

I’ve had to stop using lush shampoo and conditioner, it REALLY removes color. I mean I remember i had just dyed my hair, and then I used veganese) and it was like my hair felt so soft and smelled so good, but my hair color was flat, it looked like it was a month old color than. 🙁

I miss my lush shampoo and conditioner, so much! :'(
(sometimes i will mix a bit of curly wurly with my other shampoo)

        • LINDARRAGNAR

I also think this scent sounds amazing, a bit like flying fox? maybe… sounds so rich and decadent!!! 🙂

          • the Muse

A LITTLE linda but much much much nicer! Full on honey floral explosion! it’s gorgeous simply gorgeous!

        • the Muse

i had a strip of purple in my hair and it completely removed it lol! it’s powerful stuff!

  • Sweta

This is gr8 if it does not have strong honey smell as strangely i dont enjoy that scent too..but as per you if it has some floral scent to it..ll surely check it out ..:)Thanks!

    • the Muse

do do do do! it’s a must! I hate honey, dare I say I feel honey has this weird cat pee flower thing going on!? It’s just not a nice scent, kinda perfumey and odd…but mixed with all these floral notes it’s simply GORGEOUS!

  • Amanda

I just ordered this yesterday, along with that popcorn facial wash/scrub and some other goodies. I’ve place 3 LUSH UK orders in as many weeks…bad Manda!

    • the Muse

YAYYYYYYYYY please please come back and tell me what you think of it?! I freaking love it. good for you! enjoy!

  • Melissa

I wonder if it will work on my ultra dry ultra thick curly mass of stuff on my head that people call hair? What’s your opinion muse?

  • Quinctia

Hmm…is there ANY…jasmine or lavendar, or is it basically honey, geranium, and rose? I can’t do a lot of florals (those first two are the worst, though!), and I really want to put some honey shampoo in my hair, haha.

  • Marta

I’d probably get this. I’ve liked Flying fox, It’s raining men and Honey I washed the kidds and they’re all honey based. Happy hippy I disliked, I think the honey+fruits combo made it way too sweet for me.
I dont know in the USA, but in the Uk and Spain they keep the shop doors open to lure off guard pedestrians!
I’d not have purchased the big sized bottle either. You had to smell it first, because it isn’t cheap! (Dream retailer: Lush products, Elf prizes)

    • the Muse

hey marta love it’s raining men and honey I washed the kids too! ;-D but this is so much more floral than foody like those two scents ;-D agreed, it’s gotten so costly to buy lush lately!

  • Anne

After reading this review, I’ve decided I must try Lush products. Do you recommend this shampoo for someone with fine, long hair? It’s wavy to straight, depending on its mood. Like you, I do wash it daily or I feel unclean. Would this be okay for daily use? What conditioner should I pair with it?

  • Darae

what about for your sculpture? is it of course so mild for it?
my sculpture is so sensitive so i always use “I love Juicy” 😀
since i read your review of this shampoo, i really eager to buy this one…
    haha 🙂
Thank you for your review anyway. it helps!!

  • Tamanna

Hi..I don’t use colour but henna- both LUSH Caca Noir and ordinary henna and indigo. Will this strip the hair of the henna colour too?
    Thanks!!

  • dea elysia

Hi.. I wanna ask, which one between lush curly wurly shampoo and lush fair trade honey shampoo which suitable for my curly, unruly, and frizz ? Thanks for your advice. I really doubt to choose 🙁
