Lush Let The Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Lush Let the Good Times Roll is a new facial cleanser released for Holiday/Christmas 2012 that’s available for a short time only. Why oh why must they make these things limited edition?

As you know from many, many, many of my past posts I’m a hardcore Busche de Noel Cleanser fan. I thank the Lush gods that it’s come back each Holiday Season. Personally I think they should make it part of the standard cleanser collection and while there at it please for the love of all good facial cleansers make Let the Good Times Roll a part of it too!

This is wonderful stuff! Stock up while you can! It’ll be gone after Christmas or who knows maybe even before when word catches on how amazing it is!

The ingredients are Maize flour, Glycerine, Talc, Water, Corn oil, Polenta, Fair Trade Organic Cinnamon Powder, Perfume, Gardenia Extract, and Popcorn.

Yes, popcorn! How funky is that?

This is an exfoliating cleanser so it does have a fine grainy formula that buffs skin to a beautiful glow. It smells like salty popcorn with caramel, vanilla cupakes, and ooeey gooey buttery sugary salty goodness all rolled into one. Seriously, the scent is positively scrumptious! I want to sit around and eat it from the tube!

But don’t eat it, treat your dry skin to it. It polishes skin to a smooth, refined finish creating soft, glowing skin.

It comes in a big gooey hunk that kinda looks gross at first. You pull off a small piece, rub it between wet hands to create a paste, and massage it gently on. The glycerin makes the application slicker and also keeps skin from feeling dry once you rinse it off. The texture is smooth but as you massage it on you’ll feel the finer, grainy texture of the cleanser. The grainy texture feels like sand but it’s not an irritating or harsh scrub so you can easily buff skin daily without the fear of stripping skin or making it tight and dry.

I think most skin types should be able to use this. Dry skin will find it buffs away flaky, dry skin and oil skin will find it mattifies as it exfoliates without over drying.

Overall, it’s an absolute hit for me! I purchased a single tube from Lush UK but you can be damn sure I’ll be purchasing more and tucking them in my fridge before they disappear for good.

Muse Approved.

Aww no fair! I haven’t got my order yet 😛 are ther a lot of exfoliants? Like packed full or barely any like some exfoliating cleansers?

    • the Muse

nooo it’s packed full of sugary/salty grains..so technically can’t use it as a cleanser to remove makeup imho. Just as an exfoliating treatment of sorts 😀 It’s a finer grain though so it isn’t chunky like say Ocean Salt.

      • Cj

Ooh goody that’s what I was hoping! Now I just gotta wait for mine to come lol.

        • the Muse

buy back ups for the love of god buy back ups! it’s crazy it is LE! *falls on the floor*

  • Kassia

FYI you can keep their fresh products in the freezer to last you longer! In an ice cube tray no less, for single-portion usage. 🙂

    • the Muse

I typically put them in the fridge…freezer seems odd as once they defrost I imagine they’ll be mushy and water sogged :-/

  • Tiffany

I hate how Lush’s products expire so quickly. I can never finish the whole thing in time >_< I'm really tempted to buy this though…gonna need a gentle exfoliator for dry the winter months!

  • Kiss & Make-up

I lolololoooove Lush 🙂 They’re always so spot on with their products.

  • Amanda

Ah, this is awesome- I’m so glad to read your happy review. When I first saw this online, I thought it was kinda gross and weird (who puts popcorn in/on a face wash?), but now I really want to buy it! Currently waiting for my second LUSH UK Christmas order to arrive though, so I gotta include this with my next order. 😛

I’m interested to try this, the fact that it’s a dense ball of goop gets me curious haha.

As usual I just have to rant about how annoying it is to make cleansers etc. LE! If you find something that cleans/exfoliates beautifully and then have to wait either a year to get it again or maybe even never get it again what is even the point?? LE scents, soaps, bath bombs I get…because those are things you cycle through anyway…but if you find an LE cleanser etc. that is your HG you’re screwed :X

  • Marta

I’m not buying anymore Lush. I’m so tired of the LEs and fresh products that expire in a month. I pass the front of the store sometimes, and it smells so annoyingly awesome. Terribly incredible. No-buy though.
Except for Snow Fairy. And Karma, the only patchouli perfume I love. And Dark Angels. And Space Girl bath bomb. Agh, fine. I’ll take a look at Let the Good Times Roll tomorrow. This is the worst no-buy EVER, lol.

      • Marta

Hey! I can stop WHENEVER I want. I just don’t want to yet…
I was going to be like “ha, don’t complain about increased costs, I’m sure Lush is more costly in Spain than the USA”. Turns out your prizes are even higher than ours. First time that ever happened :S Still, some products we get a month later than UK here, it’s pretty annoying.

        • the Muse

oh us too marta, we typically get them two to three months later! and yeah, euro prices are WAY friendlier girl for Lush anyway ;-D that’s one thing you got on us!!!!!! sure, I believe you can stop anytime, yup, honest I believe you hehehehe! ps did you try the fair trade honey shampoo yet? YOU MUST! it’s amazings!

          • Marta

This feels like a very slow, specific themed chat xD
I might as well, as I’ve loved all their other honey based stuff. Flying Fox, It’s raining men and Happy Hippy, although Happy Hippy’s scent it a little too much on the sweet side.
Every honey based thing reminds me of AD. Gob, you were right: bees are the future. Not beets. Whoever would want a beet scented shampoo? Madness.
And you can’t judge me: if you think a Lush box smells heavenly when you open it, imagine how the whole shop smells. And, of cours, doors are always opened -.-“

          • the Muse

lol ew beets! 😀 awww I love the smell of a lush shop, it’s addicting ;-D I don’t really like shopping in store b/c everything has been touched but I love just walking around in one and breathing all that lush air lol!

  • Melissa

oy vey .. you are killing my temporary lush no-buy I promised myself I would wait until all the holiday stuff was in store.. but I might be “forced” to order online. It’s a funny thing with lush.. I strayed to try other brands and play for a while and as soon as i got back to a good lush routine my skin improved tremendously! (face and body) I’ve probably mentioned that I’ve yet to meet a lush product I’m allergic to which is very unique for me.

    • the Muse

melissa same here, I used to be all lush skincare all the time. I end up indulging in other products but always happy to come back to lush!

  • Devi

My boyfriend would completely mistaken this for ice cream or food of some sort if it was in the freezer! This has to smell somewhat nice if it’s seasonal. Is it only available on lush.com?

  • Jenny

Hey Muse, loved your review but hun, dont stock up on this product, because after Christmas Let the good times roll cleanser and Popcorn lip scrub ARE GOING TO BE PERMANENT!!!! Yes, the Lush staff loved this so much they are going to put these two products on the permanent range!!!

  • Ashley

I have been using this product daily for a week now (paired with cosmetic lad facial moisturizer) and my skin is absolutely glowing! I went into Lush looking for a new facial cleanser since my old routine using coal face wasn’t doing the job anymore. My skin was changing from all around oily to an incredibly oily and incredibly dry combination skin with sensitive sections as well. I explained my problem to one of the workers (they are all so fabulous!) and she suggested I use this. Best suggestion I have ever received. It leaves my skin looking matte but not dry and completely moisturized. And the smell! Scrumptious! I can’t rave about it enough! I’m definitely going to check out to see if they’ll make it a permanent product – if not, I’ll be stocking up for sure!

  • Lauren

I have great news! I went to lush today and they were saying let the good times roll was becoming a permanent item. Sadly not Buche de Noel too!

    • Kate

Dude…it’s been months and my local shop hasn’t gotten any more Let the Good Times Rolls in since Xmas and the shop girl told me it’s now being discontinued….. wtf. I miss the cleanser so much I wish we could get more! 🙁 🙁 🙁

  • Grace

I love this cleanser so much and I’m trying to use it really sparingly as I reach the end of the tub. Can’t believe they’ve discontinued it, I absolutely adore it and nothing has worked as well for my skin 🙁
