MAC All for the Glamour Face Kit Gorgeous Bronze Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

MAC All for the Glamour Face Kit in Gorgeous Bronze is a limited edition face, eye, and lip palette MAC has launched for Holiday 2012.

I’ve mentioned it in a few of my reviews already but I’m very pleased with the packaging on Holiday 2012. These are a hard plastic shell with a firm plush pin cushion design on top. The compacts kinda have a vintage feel (the plastic might take away from that some though) and are very girlish and pretty.

Take a look!

This palette is the only face, lip, and cheek palette MAC introduced for Holiday 2012. There are tons of lip and face palettes as well as eyeshadow ones but nothing that addresses your entire face. They included bronzer (although I wish it was blush) as well as eyeshadow and lipstick in this palette.

No worries about cream and powder products in one spot as MAC kindly includes a small plastic cover for the lip products which will keep them from getting any kickback from the powders. You’ll also get a dual ended brush for application which includes an eyeshadow brush on one side and a lip brush on the other.

I’m not in love with any of the shades in this palette but the quality is here overall. For this palette they went with a plummy smoky pink eye look and vampy lips with a warmer bronzer. I don’t feel the colors are terribly Holiday overall and they just didn’t excite me however, there isn’t any denying they are classic colors for a nice office friendly look. Just not something I’d choose for myself…!

You get:

  • Golden Bronzing Powder (golden tan beige shade with subtle shimmer)

Eyeshadows:

  • Romance Me (dark plum)
  • Hearts-a-Flutter (sheer pink satin)
  • Shadowy Lady (blackened plum matte)
  • Barely Lit Lipstick (beige dusky pink)
  • Headerturner (vampy cool plum)

Shadowy Lady, Romance Me, Hearts-A-Flutter, Golden Bronze Powder

Headturner Lipstick and Barely Lit Lipstick

The eyeshadows all had a fairly decent formula however, Hearts-a-Flutter had a weaker pigmentation with a dense formula that was difficult to swatch or see in pictures. The lipsticks are all a dense formula (one reason I dislike lipstick palettes) with a drier formula and opaque coverage. The bronzer is soft and silky with a sheerer finish that builds easily.

I wasn’t completely wowed by the palette but I think MAC was very consistent with the formula and quality which is a good thing considering some collections have left me less than pleased lately.

If you like plummy shades with a more natural cheek the All for Glamour Face Kit might be for you. It also gives you the option to go a bit nude with your lips for a day look and a bit vampy for a night look.

This launches on counter today and is also available online at maccosmetics.com

Do you like it?

I’d have preferred a blush myself versus a bronzer and maybe some warmer shades rather than the smoky ones! Too bad they only did one of these Face Kits!

I agree – if only it were a blush and not a bronzer… But the lipstick choices seem odd with the eyeshadows. That’s not a combination I’d think of putting together really. Maybe I should try it sometime? LOL I do think it’s great that they put in a little cover for the lipsticks. That’s brilliant!

maybe the plummy vampy lip with these eyeshadows yes but not the dusky beige pink…! perhaps for a day look through? I wasn’t overall pleased with the shades here….it’s a nice palette, fairly good quality, just the shades are mismatched and not something i’d pick for myself. bronzer…MEH!

I have Shadowy Lady and I find it so difficult to work with in its original iteration I would never buy it in a palette. Like you said, too bad it’s not sparkly holiday goodness with a lovely blush!

    • the Muse

it’s matte and evil abbey! lol! I didn’t have too many issues with it, used a little in my crease today with the pink as an accent but I hate mattes :-/

I feel like this is a strange combination of colors. Not a look I’d assemble for myself but there’s something for everyone, yes?

    • the Muse

agreed! not for me either tbh! but there is def someone out there that will adore it I’m sure!

I’m thinking this might be a case of skin tone because I’m loving the palette colors and my first thought when I saw it was, “Oooh, this would be a great palette to use for nice plum Xmas look!” I’m a darker skinned gal (NC45-NC50) so that might make a diff! For me the bronzer would probably serve more as a highlighter so I’d have to add a blush but I’m digging the rest of the palette for sure!

khalia I think it’ll look nice on a darker skin tone but the bronzer might be disappointing, little sheer for such a deep skin tone…but as a highlighter maybe ;-D anything else you’re hauling from holiday?

I agree. This would have been great if it had been a blush, more neutral eyeshadows, and those same lipsticks. I actually have been looking for a palette that has a blush and a few eyeshadow shades, maybe a cream eyeliner, and a finishing powder for an all-in-one travel type thing. I think it’s weird to put a bronzer in there with no blush. I do like how the lipsticks have a cover. I typically HATE palettes with glosses because the powders contaminate them.

The packaging is so cute but I find myself wishing they fit regular mac shadows because I would have loved to use and refill the eyeshadows to continue using the palette! Props for the lip compartment lid though I hate mixing lip and powder products in one one palette! Thanks for the review Muse!

my pleasure lily! I wish they were snap in and out too, would be fun to use and reuse them!

  • Majick

Personally I wouldn’t get this but, I think the shadows are VERY neutral.

I would pair the redder lippie with a more subdued eye – think the first two shades with simple black liner on top lashes, maybe a little of the shimmer shadow under the eye too.

Add the deeper purple shade for drama and use the peachy lip tone.

Bronzer is great with brighter lippies because if you put too much color on lips and cheeks you could end up lookign a little “raggety anne”. 🙂

    just my 2 cents …
