MAC Glamour Daze Extra Dimension Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

MAC has released eight shades of Extra Dimension Eyeshadow with their Glamour Daze Holiday 2012 Collection. Interestingly enough they choose to go smaller with these shadows.

They went from a whooping 0.07 oz down to 0.04 oz. To add insult to injury each one is $19.50, the larger size was $20………WTH? How did that happen?

At first I was excited about the smaller size because I actually don’t like when MAC does those massive eyeshadows. I feel like I’ll never use them all up. However, I don’t want to spend more for less! Jeepers!

Let’s take a look!

I liked Extra Dimension Eyeshadow when it was originally introduced and I still like it now just not the new price tag.

The shadows looked like just poured molten liquid metal and I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say it again here they so remind me of the Velveeta Cheesy Skillet dude, “Liquidddd goldddddd”!

The formula of the shadows have the smoothness of a cream but the blendability of a liquid and the wear and application of a powder eyeshadow. I’ve compared these to Sephora’s Prisma Chrome Eyeshadow but these have more pop with more of a liquid metal-like finish. You can use them wet or dry, I like using them dry but wet does produce a more interesting effect and a better color intensity. When worn dry I do see some fading and creasing so primer or some sort of cream base is recommended to keep them wearing their longest.

The color I’m really like from this release is a Natural Flirt. One thing I noticed about this shade was it appeared almost as if they design was an over spray of shimmering metal but the powder that laid beneath didn’t have as much of the metallic finish as the shadows did in the original release. It was rather odd…! Instead of metallic I felt like Natural Flirt had more shimmer and iridescence to it

This is a soft peach with an almost gold pink reflection. I don’t own enough basic shades like this for creating simple, fresher eye looks so it was one reason I migrated towards it. It’ll be a perfect shade for using as a color wash with a heavily lined eye look if you desire or a nice color for brightening up tired eyes for a natural look with an emphasis on a bolder shade of blush or lipstick.

Extra Dimension Eyeshadows are a very unique experience and well worth exploring if you haven’t already. I Muse Approved them on the original release and do think they are still an excellent formula worth checking out.

They are available now on MAC counters as well as online.

Any shades from Glamour Daze that are on your list?

Natural Flirt looks like it would double as a great highlighter for face and cheeks too!! Thanks for sharing xoxo

Pretty! I usually go for bolder colors, but this is indeed a great basic shade.

I picked up this shade and while I love it, I’m SO disappointed at the value-jacking MAC did. :/ The original release was barely over half a year ago! It’s not like the market price for eyeshadows suddenly doubled, either.

There are other shades I was interested in but needless to say I won’t be picking any up. I see no need to throw money at them for something that I don’t think is worth it, even if it was limited edition. >:

Here in Italy they overpriced the original version (27 euro!!! 27!!!), this one will retail at 19,50. still not cheap but maybe this time I’ll get one because I’m curious about the formula…

I like that these are smaller and can actually be put in a pro-palette. I didnt get any the first time the extra dimension shadows were released so i thought they were bigger and obviously i was right. I do think its really lame that the size was cut in half but the prices stayed essentially the same?! Maybe mac has some grounds to make up bc they didnt generate the revenues they were planning on with their onslaught of collections where quality of products released was a real hit and miss?! 🙁
