Maybelline Fuchsia Fever Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow in Fuchsia Fever is one of the reasons I decided to review each of the new shades separately. I dunno about you but I find Color Tattoo’s formula isn’t always consistent across shades and Fuchsia Fever is one of those shades that wasn’t quite as friendly to work with as other colors.

Take a look!

Fuchsia Fever is a unique shade. It isn’t a full on neon fuchsia shade but leans towards being a lovely magenta as well as a fuchsia combined. It’s a gorgeous color and will look incredible on a darker skin tone than my own.

I do think it’s worth picking up but I must warn you it has a very finicky application. The color pay off is excellent however, it requires plenty of building to enjoy that lovely pigment. My issue with the formula was as I applied and blended I kept literally blending it away. It just didn’t want to stay on my lid. I applied the color and built it up with the new Color Tattoo Brush that Maybelline released. However, I did need to blend it out with fingertips and this resulted in my bare lid showing and just general patchiness as I smoothed it into place. I think much of the messiness that came with application can be seen in my photos below as my shadow is a bit uneven and less than smooth in areas.

I literally had to do six layers to get the best intensity and to avoid the uneven, patchiness that came out to play whenever my finger came into contact with the shade.

Needless to say it’s a temperamental color that’s truly a bitch to apply.

Overall, Fuchsia Fever is gorgeous but it takes a ton of tender, loving, patient care to get it applied correctly. If you’re frustrated easily with difficult to apply eyeshadow I’d say skip it! If you have the patience of a saint, go for it!

Tried it?

For that lovely color I would be willing to try it! I sort of had a similar problem with one of the green color tattoos released for the fashion week collection. I thought maybe it was just me, but I’m glad to know it wasn’t! I wanted to layer on the green so it would pop more and be a little more vibrant, but every time I would try to layer a little more I would get patches in some areas. It wasn’t too bad to deal with, but definitely an annoyance!

Nope – this is way too much effort for me. Six layers?! Eek!

Still haven’t found any of these 🙁 So sad, as this is the one I am lusting after the most!

Why are purple eyeshadows always such a pain in the ass? I seriously have yet to find a purple eyeshadow that doesn’t give me problems!

  • Quinctia

Love that color! Even though I don’t use these that often, I think I want this one.

That looks so good on you!!!

Now I don’t feel like wearing mine ever again. 🙁 It’s so true what they say: purples look beautiful on brown eyes.

I love the tight lining and/or water lining that you’ve got going on lately. Very, very flattering.

It’s such a pretty color why does it have to be patchy and hard to apply >: SADSADSAD. Do you find the color tattoo formula to be wildly inconsistent depending on the color?

These are great!! I use them as bases for most of my makeup application and a great alternative to MACs expensive paint-pots. Maybelline did good on this last fall collection of 8 they are all beautiful!!!
