Skin Food Byulsatang Eye Color Review & Swatches

Skin Food Byulsatang Eye Color was introduced last Spring in Korea I believe. I remember hauling a few shades and gifting them to friends but never actually reviewing the one shade I decided to keep.

There’s a reason for that…!

Skin Food Byulsatang Eye Color is available in eight color variations for around six or seven dollars each I believe, don’t quote me there though as I had a friend purchase them for me quite sometime ago.

Byulsatang Eye Color kinda slipped rather quickly off my radar because the formula just wasn’t what I expected from Skin Food. Recently a reader asked if I ever tried them and if so could I possibly review them thus this post was born.

These come in a small little plastic tub and can be used as a liner or a shadow. The reason they fell so quickly to the beauty wasteland is because the formula is terribly dense. Honestly, they feel like an old eyeshadow, years old…! The texture is very hard and picking up color is very challenging….they also blend really bad because of this. I find digging a finger into them does warm them up VERY slightly but still not enough for ease of application.

The shade Apricot Cream is one I kept for myself and has stayed in my stash since I think it’s a rather perfect golden peach. However, I’d be less likely to keep it if it wasn’t for that pretty color as the formula itself is rubbish.

Overall, I was a bit surprised. Skin Food typically has decent makeup offerings but they were very disappointing. It just seems like an eyeshadow that was left laying around for years…!

No likey!

Don’t buy if you’ve been considering a purchase on E-bay or other online shops.

P.S. Neil Gaiman wrote and narrated a new free audio book at Audible.com entitled Click-Clack the Rattlebag. Not only do you get the joy of listening to Neil weave his scary tale but Audible will also donate a $1 for every single download to be donated to DonorsChoose.org

Such a fabulous way to celebrate Halloween with one of my favorite authors and for such a good cause!

The color actually looks really soft and romantic on you! Sucks that the formula is so blech. Fun fact: “Byulsatang” actually means “Star Candy.” (I’m Korean.) In that sense, the color IS kinda candy-ish, in a fun way.

hey audrey cool fact ;-D and very fitting as the containers kinda remind me of candy!

Looks cute on you, but yeah, I can see the formula is definitely chalky – so it can’t be comfortable to apply or wear. 🙁 Skinfood is usually good quality, so that’s surprising. Oh well, live and learn!

Quick question for ya, Muse: Have you ever tried the KATE mineral gel BB cream? I’m trying to rustle up some reviews but I can’t find any. Thanks dear!

mm sometimes they are a hit and a miss hapa! I have. I’ll see if I can get a review live soon!

    Hey! Long time lurker here.

Your Byulsatang looks like it really dried out already. I haven’t bought one myself but I have swatched it before when I visited a skinfood store. It’s supposed to be thick and creamy. 🙂
