Stila Holiday 2012 Brush Set Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Dude, the hardest thing in the world about Holiday beauty shopping is choosing a Brush Set. We can sit around and tell ourselves we have far to many brushes and we don’t need more. But the Holiday comes and with it massive brush sets and all that pep talk goes right out the window.

We start reverse pep talking ourselves into actually buying MORE brushes because they are such a good deal.

Sigh…the life of a beauty junkie. We need to spend more money on therapy than beauty.

The Stila Holiday 2012 Brush Set ($28) passed across my desk recently and of course, I instantly had to share it with you!

This $28 set features five full size essential makeup brushes. Stila bundled up their best selling brushes for the set and it comes packaged up in a light blue festive box for gifting (or hoarding away for your own greedy self).

You get:

  • #24 Powder Brush
  • #5 Eye Shadow Brush
  • #33b Domed Concealer Brush
  • #33a Foundation Brush
  • #4 Smudger/Liner Brush

The brushes are well made with soft bristles that are shed-free. These have sturdy, lightweight handles with the name of the brush printed on. It’s a nice round up of essentials that you’ll pretty much use daily and thankfully they didn’t include a lip brush. Ugh lip brushes are my pet peeve, I just never get use from them and hate when they are included in a gift set.

Broken down you’re paying $5.60 per a brush so quite a good deal overall. They are a little lighter than the brushes Stila normally offers but quality is excellent.

Quite a nice little brush set if you’re shopping one for the Holidays.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I *must* resist! I think I love brushes as much as actual makeup, and I can never resist a great deal on them. However, I end up buying them, but sticking with the same ones (mainly because I clean them after each use, and by the time I go to put them away, it’ almost time to use them again). The domed concealer brush looks good, although I can’t justify the entire set for one brush; however, the price of the whole set is what I’d pretty much pay for one brush. Decisions…

Wow what a deal! I bought a duo brush from Stila that combines #33A/B. I believe it is brush #33 and it was $38 at Ulta. As you know, that is more than the price for this whole set! I like Stila’s brushes. My #33 is so soft and both ends do a good job.

The only lip brush I have ever loved came from the Dollar Tree! It was a L’Oreal H.I.P. branded lip brush that had a metal sheath over it. Best idea ever since lip brushes always get messy. Its worth checking out for a dollar!

I need new brushes so I’d like a new set – but not one with aanother foundation brush or concealor brush – I never use those!

Didn’t need to see this…LOL! Actually, I think I can pass on this one. I did some real damage at the Q buying all the IT products I wanted that came with the brush included – my collection, she GROWS!
