Tarte The Stand Outs Best Sellers Kit Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Imma tell you the Tarte Stands Out Best Sellers Set is too cute however, I’d change one thing! Add in a blush next year Tarte, ya know, one of those small ones like from your Fantastic Foursome Gift Set and this girl would be very pleased indeed.

This little beauty discovery kit includes four Tarte bestsellers for $25. It’s an excellent introduction to the brand or a perfect pick for a stocking stuffer.

Have a peek!

The set is a $58 but marked at a mere $25. It includes one full size brush two full size products, and a deluxe size sample of mascara. Since there’s a full size Tarte Lipsurgence in the kit you can pretty much mark it up as buying it and throwing in an extra dollar for the other goodies since that single lip product is $24 retail.

The swag:

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Bronze (full size)
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! (deluxe sample size)
  • Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster in Pouty (full size)
  • Tarte Double-ended Liner Brush

I’d say ditch the brush and gimme a blush for the same price next year or leave the brush, charge me $30, and gimme a blush. That would basically take care of eyes, lips, and cheeks and make the set oh so much cooler. Not that it isn’t already but I’m always about more bang for my buck!

Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner can be used as a liner or a shadow. It’s a pigmented formula with a creamy texture that glides and blends out easily on eyes. Used as shadow it dries down to a nice budge-proof finish without fading or creasing for several hours of wear. As a liner it also dries down to a solid finish which doesn’t flake, fade, or smear during wear. The application is such a breeze as the color blends out so easily without revealing the skin of my lid when I start blending our with my finger. This shade I actually already own but I’m happy to have the back up as I love this color. Bronze is a richer, darker chocolate with a golden sheen.

I had no idea Pouty was a bestselling Lip Luster shade. Interesting! I’d probably have called Glisten a hit. Lip Lusters are a chubby lip pencil with a balmy, hydrating texture that tint lips with a flush of color, in this case a pretty pink berry! The swivel up pencil allows for easy application on the go.

Tarte also included their super great Lights, Camera, Lashes! Lights, Camera, Lashes has always proven an a plus mascara performer. It produces longer, full lashes with an easy to use straight line brush. The formula has a rich black pigmentation and doesn’t flake or smear on my eyes.

And finally Tarte includes a dual sided brush for smudging and lining with.

Overall, the set breaks down to around six dollars and change per a piece. As I mentioned above the Lip Luster alone would set you back $24 so add an extra buck in and you’re getting a few awesome extras along for the ride. This is a nice stocking stuffer or smaller gift for a friend or family memory. The shades are classic and should be universally flattering on many skin tones. If they added a blush in I’d be ever so happy….! Maybe next year!

Used as a liner on eyes

Used as an all over eyeshadow

Cute set, great value!

Do check it out if you don’t already own some of these pieces.

What are you loving from Tarte Holiday 2012?

It looks so pretty on you as an all over lid shade but I’m just not a fan of brown eyeliner. I will be passing on this one. Maybe I’m just too much of a control freak to do the gift set thing. 🙂

They had a similar set last year on QVC (and Sephora I think) that I snatched up. Instead of the brush it had a mini-cheek stain. It was my first purchase from the brand and I was totally hooked!

    • the Muse

yay cali! glad to hear you got the set, the mini cheek stain=awesome ;-D
