This palette quite reminds of some of the gift palettes that MAC released this year. The plastic tray houses a spot for the blush, bronzer, and shadow with smaller compartments and slots for applicators (blush and eyeshadow), lipgloss, and lip pencil. It is quite portable thanks to the glittering gold makeup bag/clutch it comes with but you do have to be careful with it as if you drop it you could potentially break it. The set also comes with a step by step guide for creating two looks using the products in the kit.
I’ve reviewed Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadows in a prior post but they still manage to steal my breath. These are so pigmented with a velvety, buttery texture that glides easily onto lids and blend out to a picture perfect finish. They shadows are smooth, buttery, and so easy to apply plus they lack the fall out issues that comes with loose minerals or eyeshadows. The formula isn’t densely packed and I’ve been known to compare them to a just pressed pigment. This works in your favor as it allows sponge applicators or brushes to easily pick color up for application. The shades included are a bronzy khaki taupe, teal, creamy beige, and matte light cranberry. Even the matte formula is easy to apply and lacks the patchy dry application I commonly associate with such a finish.
This is my first try with Ready Blush and Bronzer. I’m not particularly keen on bronzer for my Holiday look but you can use it to contour with should you like. The shade is a warmer golden tan. The blush is a lighter pink. The formulas are smooth and silky. The blush does have to be built for the best color pay off as it does run sheerer but this can work in your favor if you have a heavier hand.
The liner included in 10 PM is a matte brown. Round the Clock Eyeliners have a creamy formula with a nice long wear that doesn’t smudge or fade easily. And finally this includes a Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss. I don’t care for the shade as it’s more of a beige nude that gives me zombie lips. However, I really love the formula on Marvelous Moxie Gloss as it gives my lips a pout-y plush look. The color is sheerer but it will give your a nude-d out look so if you like such a look you’ll get on very well with this color choice.
Overall, the Light Show is a thrilling little palette. It’s also a value as it contains a full size Ready Shadow Quad which are typically $30 on their own. Some of the color choices aren’t what I’d choose for myself typically such as the Moxie Lipgloss shade and bronzer. However, none of this takes away from the fact that this is a beautiful palette for gifting. It’s the type of palette I’d proudly give to a loved one.
Loves it.
If this isn’t your color range no worries Bare Minerals has quite a few palettes available for Holiday 2012. Light Show is just one of them!
