Bare Minerals Light Show Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Ahhh if you love Ready Eyeshadow you must pick up the Bare Minerals Light Show Palette ($54). It’s not only a gorgeous palette for yourself but will make a welcome gift for beauty lovers far and wide.

This is the type of palette you gift your mum or your mother in law as its such a classic piece of beauty that will appeal to mature ladies. No crazy sparkle or glitter here just classical makeup with a sophisticated twist ideal for your more “grown up” holiday looks.

Bare Minerals Light Show contains everything you need for eyes, lips, and face plus a dazzling makeup bag to store it all in!

Take a look!

Take a Bare Minerals Ready 8.0 Eyeshadow Palette and feed it a few steroids and you’ll have the Light Show Palette. This twice the size of two 8.0 Eyeshadow Palettes. It’s a gorgeous gold mirrored palette with a huge mirror. Problem? Yes, it happens to be a magnetic for finger prints but try to overlook that and enjoy this stunning little palette.

Flip it open to reveal:

  • Ready Eyeshadows (Spotlight, Flash, Flicker, and Dazzle)
  • Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner in 10PM
  • Ready Blush in the Limelight
  • Ready Bronzer in the High Dive
  • Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Super Power

This palette quite reminds of some of the gift palettes that MAC released this year. The plastic tray houses a spot for the blush, bronzer, and shadow with smaller compartments and slots for applicators (blush and eyeshadow), lipgloss, and lip pencil. It is quite portable thanks to the glittering gold makeup bag/clutch it comes with but you do have to be careful with it as if you drop it you could potentially break it. The set also comes with a step by step guide for creating two looks using the products in the kit.

I’ve reviewed Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadows in a prior post but they still manage to steal my breath. These are so pigmented with a velvety, buttery texture that glides easily onto lids and blend out to a picture perfect finish. They shadows are smooth, buttery, and so easy to apply plus they lack the fall out issues that comes with loose minerals or eyeshadows. The formula isn’t densely packed and I’ve been known to compare them to a just pressed pigment. This works in your favor as it allows sponge applicators or brushes to easily pick color up for application. The shades included are a bronzy khaki taupe, teal, creamy beige, and matte light cranberry. Even the matte formula is easy to apply and lacks the patchy dry application I commonly associate with such a finish.

This is my first try with Ready Blush and Bronzer. I’m not particularly keen on bronzer for my Holiday look but you can use it to contour with should you like. The shade is a warmer golden tan. The blush is a lighter pink. The formulas are smooth and silky. The blush does have to be built for the best color pay off as it does run sheerer but this can work in your favor if you have a heavier hand.

The liner included in 10 PM is a matte brown. Round the Clock Eyeliners have a creamy formula with a nice long wear that doesn’t smudge or fade easily. And finally this includes a Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss. I don’t care for the shade as it’s more of a beige nude that gives me zombie lips. However, I really love the formula on Marvelous Moxie Gloss as it gives my lips a pout-y plush look. The color is sheerer but it will give your a nude-d out look so if you like such a look you’ll get on very well with this color choice.

Overall, the Light Show is a thrilling little palette. It’s also a value as it contains a full size Ready Shadow Quad which are typically $30 on their own. Some of the color choices aren’t what I’d choose for myself typically such as the Moxie Lipgloss shade and bronzer. However, none of this takes away from the fact that this is a beautiful palette for gifting. It’s the type of palette I’d proudly give to a loved one.

Loves it.

If this isn’t your color range no worries Bare Minerals has quite a few palettes available for Holiday 2012. Light Show is just one of them!

Yes, it the best multi-pallet I have yet to see in BE Ready. I do have 6 of the eye ones and the liners and glosses and they are some of my fave and the blush and bronzer look perfect. Thanks for the swatches and again you look so pretty in them.

  • Tiffany Martin

This looks heavenly… and wow those peepers are sure pretty with that shadow! What colors did you use for that eye look?

      • Tiffany Martin

I wasn’t sure if you used all three, and they look great together. Fancy!

          • Tiffany Martin

Haha, no it doesn’t suck but it looks multi-dimensional so I was like “Wow, is that how amazing the blue looks alone, or is that blended with the taupe?”

FAB job, seriously. I’m kindof a jerk so I only say nice things when somethings really good ^_^

          • the Muse

            aw thanks…I thought it kinda stunk ;-D you aren’t a jerk, I don’t believe that! You’re always lovely ;-D

  • Quinctia

Okay, I like bronzer, and that shade doesn’t look particularly bad to put in a palette, but why is there so much bronzer? That’s a hell of a lot of bronzer compared to the rest of the palette pans.

BE is killing me with their holiday collection!!! I haven’t picked this one up (still debating). I did pick up the Fired up palette from Sephora. It’s gorgeous!!! I’m ordering the TSV and two other sets are screaming hey hey heeeey!

      • Winni

Yes! The bigger the blush, the better; is what I say! But I’m a blush h0r, so…..ya kno. Also, I freaking LOVE these Ready eyeshadows, they are amazing! The (very few) chanel and dior palettes I have, pale in comparison. Dare I even say these are better than my Chanticaille palette? BE has really raised the bar with these. Last night a spent a long time swatching my collection looking for a dupe of Fire from the Elements quad. To my surprise, I don’t have one. So I ordered it last night before the vib ended. I have 4 quads now and 2 duos and I reach for them more than any other eyeshadows. Can’t wait to add more!

they really did do an excellent job with them…the texture is like no other. Very smooth, buttery but not frosty (some velvet shadows tend to look frosty on me but not these). I’m very impressed with them. I actually like the 8.0 more than anything, great variety, good price…better than the 4.0 and 2.0 imho!

  • Icaria

This would have been perfect if the lip gloss had a little more “oumf” and if the taupe color had been matte. But that’s me. I agree this would make a great gift. 😀

    • the Muse

I wouldn’t mind more pop with the gloss either icaria ;-D I’m really not a nude girl when it comes to gloss/lipsticks!

  • Littlecreek

Hey, I think this might be what I get my mom for Christmas. She is dark enough that she uses bronzer for blush a lot of times (she kept all the Cherokee blood and I’m the color of chalk thanks to my Dad). These colors would look great on her and since she will be doing a lot more traveling once the kid gets here this will be really handy for her.

    • the Muse

brook I think she’d love it…it’s exactly the type of gift I’d give a mom who loves makeup ;-D

  • Audrey

I continue to be impressed by BE – even some of their skincare products I’ve tried are amazing! This pallette looks gorgeous, from the gold casing to the eye shadows. Agreed that a highlighter would’ve been much better, though, than a bronzer this time of year. Muse, you look absolutely lovely!

    • the Muse

aw thanks audrey you’re too kind! I agree, BE really has been doing some great products lately. really enjoying their eye cream, funny you mentioned the skincare ;-D

      • Audrey

Muse, I love their eye cream, too! Their Purely Nourishing Moisturizer is my absolute favorite day lotion. I’m on my 8th or 9th bottle (seriously)! It’s that good.

  • Thalie

Thanks for the review. I am a BE fanatic, have so many loose eyeshadows, and really want to try out a Ready shadow or two. You didn’t mention any fallout from these. Was there any fallout? See,that is what I haven’t liked about pressed shadows in the past. These shadows just look so creamy and smooth and pigmented.
