Essence Breaking Dawn Part 2 Glitter Eyeliner Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Essence Breaking Dawn 2 Glitter Eyeliner is one of two new sparkling eyeliners available for a limited time launched with Essence’s new Breaking Dawn Park 2 Makeup Collection.

Anyone remember being obsessed with Urban Decay Heavy Metal Liners? I couldn’t be alone in that addiction…right? Anyone? Although at this point, I realize a heavily encrusted lash line full of glitter isn’t exactly the height of makeup sophistication but hey, I had fun with it and that’s what matters right?

No worries though Essence’s Glitter Eyeliner is a little more subtle.

This $2.99 Glitter Eyeliner is 0.13 oz in size and comes with a thin precise brush for application. The glitter is suspended in a clear gel-like eyeliner and can be swiped across your lash line to add a bit of sparkle or you can comb it through lashes to produce a shimmery lash look.

The effect is very subtle when compared to products like Urban Decay Heavy Metal Eyeliners so no worries about looking overly shimmery or sparkly. The shade I tried, Jacob’s Protection, is an ocean blue with specks of silver. The color works well with a traditional smoky eye look or a blue smoked out one.

You do need to line and re-line for the best results as a single application is very subtle but building up will produce more of a sparkly effect. It seems to last all day and removes easily enough at the end of the day with a little eye makeup remover.

All in all it’s a nice little budget pick if you want to add a little, not a lot, of sparkle to your Holiday looks!

The collection is available for a limited time at Ulta.

Sadly the only liquid liner that stays put for me is mally, these are pretty I had a good look at them today, settled on the loose pigments instead, I like very much, lots of colour and sparkle in them, daft names though!

Ugh… Hate these as they are so sheer. I work at an office so make-up has to be quite neutral during the day so I want more festive make-up to pop. Also the “Alice has a vision… again” lip gloss was very disappointing (almost no pigmentation and what there was looks more black then purple, almost like you tried washing ink off your lips. Could not imagine Alice wearing this shade EVER!). The rest of the collection is pretty cool though!

I don’t like how it’s so sheer. I know it’s mainly about the sparkle and not the color, but still.

I loved the UD glitter eyeliners! I always wore mine over a pencil liner. I love the sparklez!
