Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour Review & Swatches
Orange for the Holidays? Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Deco Rouge from the Art Deco Muse Holiday 2012 Collection is exactly that. This bright, bold shade of orange packs a punch.
How daring are you? Ready to go orange for the Holidays?
As for me, not daring enough. I’d sooner bungee jump off the Empire State Building. Bold, bright true shades of orange just aren’t my bag baby. I end up looking terribly clown-y in them.
The irony is I LOVE the color!
Decou Rouge is one of three new limited edition shades that Laura Mercier introduced with her Art Deco Muse Collection that was inspired by the decorative architecture, style and mood of the Art Deco perios in Paris in the mid-1920s.
Creme Smooth Lip Colour ($26) is a luxurious lipstick that was recently introduced which provides super color pay off. A single stroke will cover lips in a creamy formula with a cushy, lightweight texture that wears comfortably thanks to pure Olive Oil in the formula. I’m not a fond fan of cream finishes but these have an incredible formula. Unlike creams I’ve tried before this finish has a high sheen finish that give lips a nice bit of shine. There isn’t any sparkle, glitter, or shimmer in this formula but the shine allows the cream finish to really pop on lips.
The lipstick has a smooth, easy glide on lips and a wear time of around four to five hours without a touch up. As it fades it leaves a stain behind so if you’re not wanting to touch up your lipstick a little clear gloss will give you a natural flush courtesy that staining effect.
If you really enjoy pigmented lipsticks this is the perfect lipstick to achieve a fuller, bolder lip look. Particularly Deco Rouge which is a bold shade of orange. I’m surprised at its launch in a Holiday Collection….! If you have a darker skin tone it’ll really sizzle.
Overall, Laura Mercier made a daring decision with this shade for Holiday 2012 but if you kick tradition aside and want to embrace your wilder side for the Holidays do so indulge. Or save it for the warmer days ahead as you can really rock this come Spring and Summer.
