Make Up For Ever The Ultimate Eye Liner Collection Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Make Up For Ever the Ultimate Eye Liner Collection is one of three new gift sets release for Holiday 2012. This master collection includes a slew of eyeliner colors and formulas for all your Holiday eye looks.

Growing up as a kid I was absolutely enthralled with big old boxes of crayons. It was one of my favorite pass times to organize my crayons in the box by shade so of course this adult “crayon” box is so me. Any beauty junkie would love to own it I’m sure.

Take a look!

The Make Up For Ever The Ultimate Eye Liner Collection doesn’t come cheap. Ouch! $160 will get you 14 full size Make Up For Ever Eyeliners. Technically it contains nearly $300 worth of product ($277 to be exact) working out to a mere $11.40 per eyeliner but I realize dishing out $160 seems a little high but the price works out to a rather good deal when broken down.

Hopefully some of you snatched this lovely little gift up during Sephora’s Friend and Family Event as that would have knocked it down to a little more friendly of a price ($128).

If price doesn’t bug you this has some great products inside.

Make Up For Ever created it in the fashion of a crayon box as it has a flip top. Now all they need is a sharpener slapped in the back and we can really relive our childhood! It does indeed come with a double pencil sharpener as well just not located on the actually box….! Can’t have it all now!

Inside you’ll find seven Aqua Eyes Eyeliners, 3 Kohl Pencils, and 4 Aqua Liners all full size. The color range is actually a little friendlier than Urban Decay’s Ocho Loco Set if you prefer more subdued shades. This has great essentials like blacks and browns and also a few “fun” shades like purple, emerald, and teal.

Aqua Eyes Eyeliner, next to Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner, is one of my favorite formulas. They have a creamy, easy to smudge formula with a long wear on my drier lids. They apply sans tugging with excellent color pay off.

23L, 5L, 0L, 2L, 3L, 12L, 11L

The Kohl Pencil formula takes us back to vintage beauty days. These are a traditional pencil eyeliner with a creamy formula although they lack the hard to apply formula of yesteryear. These apply with a smooth, even glide on the lash line sans tugging or having to go over the line a second time. The first stroke delivers excellent pigment and a smooth, even line with a single application.

9K, 1K, 4K

And finally if liquid liners are your game MUFE even included several shades of their new Aqua Liner formula. These have a precise felt point for easy application with a quick to dry down formula that produces an even, smooth line.

13, 4, 15, and 7

Although Urban Decay’s Ocho Loco Set is an incredible bargain and a competitive produce for Make Up For Ever’s Ultimate Eye Liner Collection it actually lacks the creativity MUFE put into their set. If you’re in it for variety this brings that as you’re getting a variety of colors as well as a variety of pencils and formulas from liquid to cream to kohl. It’s one of the more luxurious gifts you’ll get your hands on this Holiday Season that’s for sure.

The price is hard to digest but some of you might find it in your heart to make this set your very own.

Start writing to Santa now and make sure you leave the man plenty of cookies and maybe, just maybe if you’re extra good you’ll find it under your tree.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I got the mini eyeliner set and love it! It was more affordable and there were enough pencil liners for me. MUFE eyeliners are fab!

I always thought I was the only one who organized my big boxes of crayons (markers & pencils, too!) by shade… Actually, I do my daughter’s too.

I don’t really wear any color eyeliner besides black, but I still want this.

I actually prefer Aqua Eyes to UD’s formula, however I don’t like pencils all that much. All my UD ones came with palettes, and I think my MUFE one is a deluxe sample.

I wouldn’t suggest the huge set here as a first try necessarily, but if the 24/7s just vanish off of your upper lids like they do on mine, Aqua Eyes could be worth a try. XD

thanks for the recommend since UD doesn’t stay put on me at all; they give me panda eyes. unless that is the look that you’re going for, then it’s awesome!

Gosh! They’re so pretty. Love the colors, it can be implemented into daily makeup wear 🙂

Those liners look awesomesauce! The best colors for me too… ALL THE BLUEZ!!!
