Bare Minerals Simply Irresistible Review & Swatches

Bare Minerals Simply Irresistible is a new 9 Piece Color Collection for Eyes, Lips, and Cheeks for Holiday 2012. If you’re more of a traditionalist and aren’t really loving all the Ready pressed products that BE has recently been releasing you’ll absolutely love this set.

This takes us back to Bare Minerals as we originally know them, their loose format. The Simply Irresistible set contains essentials for a complete holiday look (or two, or three…) for as little as $49. Quite the bargain! Plus it has a must have shade of blush that you can’t pass up on if you love Bare Minerals Fruit Cocktail.

What’s inside this gorgeous gold box that’s ready for gifting?

  • Queen Phyllis Eyecolor (light buttercup) (0.02 oz)
  • Heirloom Eyecolor (shimmering grey) (0.02 oz)
  • Posh Eyecolor (sparkling carbon) (0.02 oz)
  • Cheek Tint in Charm (candy heart pink) (0.03)
  • Secret Radiance All-Over Face Color (golden candlelit sheen) (0.03 oz)
  • 100% Natural Lipgloss in Pink Marzipan (delectable magenta) (0.14 oz)
  • Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner in Midnight (blackout) (0.04)
  • Flawless Definition Curl & Lengthen Mascara in Black (0.33 oz)
  • Double-Ended Tapered Blush & Shadow Brush
  • How to Get the Look Guide

These are ALL in full size products so there is a value to be had here as there is well over $100 dollars worth of Bare Minerals in the set.

The set comes in a gorgeous gold lame box so you can slip the top cover off, place a ribbon on it, a tag, and you’re good to gift it. All the products also sport gold toppers and handles for a more elegant look.

Every single piece in the collection was perfect in terms of formula and pigmentation. The shadows all have a silky formula with a great color pay off as well as the blush. Speaking of the blush that’s one of the best parts of this set in my opinion. Charm is a neon pink that rivals my favorite blush from Bare Minerals, Fruit Cocktail, in terms of POP! This is gorgeous! I’d had never thought to pair it up with warmer khaki shades that were included with this kit but it actually works out VERY well. The shade is quite unique and bright oh boy! The nice part about the color is it can be applied sheer for a glow of pink or heavier for that just came out of the cold look on cheeks. The eyeshadows create a smoky khaki green look on my eyes with graduating shades of green for crease and lid and a hint of gold to highlight.

Posh, Heirloom, Queen Phyllis

Also included is 100% Natural Lipgloss in Pink Marzipan. This has a thick yet lightweight texture that lends a very subtle hint of pink to lips. The formula is thinner than Moxie glosses yet still thick enough to create a nice pouty finish to lips.

And finally to polish off your look a full size mascara and liner is available. Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliners have a soft, creamy formula with a long wear that doesn’t smudge or fade. Flawless Definition Curl & Lengthen Mascara leaves some crunchiness behind but adds nice volume, length, and curl to lashes.

The only thing I wasn’t excited about in the set was the double ended brush. The powder brush was too tiny for blush use and the eyeshadow one was too tiny for proper shadow application.

To polish off the look they give you a generously size pot of Secret Radiance All-Over Face Color. You have to be careful with this as it can give cheeks and face a discoball finish so do use sparingly with a lighter hand.

Charm Blush and Secret Radiance All Over Powder

This set is a no brainer. You need it! As a gift, for yourself…doesn’t matter! It’s brilliant. The value is excellent, the colors are stunning, and it’s a great intro set to Bare Minerals if you’ve never explored the brand. Those who aren’t really “ready” for Ready Eyeshadow, Blush, and the slew of pressed products that Bare Minerals has been introducing will be quite happy to have their beloved loose formulas back in this great gift set.

I loved it.

It was easy to use, it created a really lovely look, and it would make an excellent gift!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Muse can you tell me how to apply loose powder? I assume we need to use a shadow primer for it to ‘stick’ to it. I never use loose powder formular before. Do you have to use a brush? can you use finger to apply?

    • the Muse

loose powder eyeshadow moon? or loose powder/setting powder? for eyeshadow I use a sponge applicator, it’s easier to pick color up and I blend it with a blending brush.

      • Moon

Yes Muse I mean to say the loose powder eyeshadow (hopefully I am smart enough to know how to use loose powder blush or setting powder! Haha!) I also want to get the Bare Minerals Vision in Velvet this holiday, but considered I never used loose powder form of eyeshadow I worry it’s just powder all over my face!

oh girl I get weird questions all the time ;-D so really if you asked about powder I wouldn’t be surprised ;-D Fall out can be prevented by using a base on your lid prior. The shadows adhere quite well when used with a sponge applicator however, they get tricky if you apply them with a brush. If you do apply with a brush consider pressing them on and blending out rather than swiping them on your lid (doing this will cause fall out). Dampening the sponge VERY lightly will also intensify the color and prevent fall out as well ;-D hope this helps!

ps someone asked me just a few days ago what to do with an eyeliner pencil because the point was dull….ahhh??? sharpen it? DOH!

  • BLee

Very pretty, Muse. The blush looks a lot like the one in the Fired Up pallet or very close.

I love the formula of the 100% natural lipgloss. I have about 5 of them 🙂
