Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Mokey Fragrance Oil Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Another day, another Fraggle Rock Perfume Oil review from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. Today’s scent, Mokey. As you know the Lab has created eight fragrances inspired by the 80’s show from Jim Henson, Fraggle Rock.

Although Gobo is the leader of the pack I’ve always though of Mokey as the unofficial leader and caregiver of the Fraggles. She’s kinda older and wiser and acts as a mother and guidance counselor all in one. When someone is sad, worried, or having a perplexing problem (seriously, how problematic can it be being a Fraggle? That life must be cool as hells!), Mokey is typically there to offer advice, a friendly hand, and an ear.

Let’s take a look at her fragrance.

Like Mokey, her perfume oil is calming, relaxing, soothing, and soft. I actually don’t like it as it reminds me of a more mature, older floral fragrance. I’m typically a fruity floral girl and like sweetness or foody notes in my fragrances which could be one reason Mokey fails to appeal to my nose.

I hate to say it but she kinda reminds me of the scent of toilet paper….notes of lilac, violet sugar, orris root, stephanotis, and osmanthus make up the scent. This comes across very sugared which is pleasant but the top floral notes are what dominates the entire blend.

I don’t really like it sadly.

But this isn’t to say it won’t work completely different on your skin. Chemistry is everything with the Lab’s oils. Something that smells off on me may smell completely wonderful on you and vice versa.

If you like soft, delicate, feminine florals you’re sure to love Mokey!

She’s available now at www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com

If you tried her or any of the Fraggle Oils do share!

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Eeeh, no, I don’t want to smell “old”, lol. I’ll pass. Too bad, because I was really excited when I read about this yesterday.

Thank you so much for posting this! A little dissapointing that Mokey isn’t great, but now I don’t have to spen my money on a present my friend won’t even like. I’ll just have to go with Gobo as she does love that type of fragrance! Thanks again!

my pleasure maggie, she’ll like it if she likes soft florals but Gobo is def more of a “fun” scent ;-D I liked it a heap better than Mokey.

Scent perception is very personal. I don’t mind violet/rose notes as long as they are strong (not powdery, or like you said “like toilet paper”). I need to smell wild flowers, or a bubbling floral potion in a cauldron. I don’t know if I’m explaining myself lol. Forem from Dorian and Dahl or Selkie from Midnight Gypsie both have violet top notes but I don’t think my grandma would wear them. I’ll probably gift myself with some Bpal samples for Jan the 6th, and I’m glad I won’t have to try and dislike this one. Thanks!

Yup, I think I’ll have to try this on my skin to make sure I like it first. Thanks for the review. I love, LOVE Mokey. When I was a kid, she was one of my favorite characters and I wanted to be Mokey- I still have my miniature Fraggle toys that I got years ago from old kid’s meals at McDonalds! XD
