Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder Spring 2013 Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder will be released with the Chanel Spring 2012 Makeup Collection that’s available this January. Your counter may already have it in stock so do check if you’d like to snag it a little earlier.

Chanel is legendary for creating beautiful easy to use highlighters. I’m a bit klutz-y with highlighter application and always have a successful run with many of the ones I’ve tried from Chanel.

Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder is a sheerer highlighting powder that creates a soft, light reflecting luminosity on skin.

Take a look!

Chanel Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder ($68) is a delicate, pale shade of light pink beige. The shade has a certain golden reflecting when applied on my cheeks and face. The color should be more than suitable for most skin types as the glow it produces is a universally flattering light that reflects pale, golden pink. If you’re super suave with your application most any skin type should be able to use this so don’t be deceived by its pale pastel-like shade if you have darker skin, it should work out fine for you!

This is a refined, silky powder sans any chunks of glitter or shimmer. Many highlighters depend on shimmer to produce the glowing effect but this has a lovely iridescent finish sans any major sparkle. Chanel includes a large sponge applicator for application. This slides easily across the powder and allows you to accurately smooth the powder on cheeks, above brow bones, or down the curve of your nose.

I felt like the finish was very subtle but the results are there when you turn your face to a certain light as it is very noticeable. It’s difficult to capture the glow in photos sadly and I’m no great photographer.

Unlike some of Chanel’s more recent highlighters which act as more of a finishing powder than an illiumnator Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder gives glow and radiance with a few strokes.

Perfect for Spring looks.

It’ll be available this January at high end counters everywhere or online at Chanel.com

Will you be indulging in anything beautiful from the Chanel Spring 2013 Collection?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Hi Muse!
I almost bought this one but I remembered I just bought BECCA’s shimmering skin perfector and resisted…the swatches look lovely, though!! Here I go, being tempted again : )
Instead I bought the quad, which is quite irrational as I have much more eyeshadows than highlighters.

    • the Muse

the quad is beautiful midori, you’ll get a ton of use from it, it’s quite nice natural shades for daily use. ;-D the powder is a “nice to have item” but yeah, if you already use and have a highlighter you need it’ll prob be logical to resist ;-D

Try Too Faced’s Snow Bunny Bronzer. It has four different shades, a white, a bronze, and a pink and peach, which together give a nice wintery bronze. If you were to just use the pink and peach, it would have an almost identical finish, sheen, and golden glow to the Chanel product above.

  • Sweta

I am trying to resist to have this quad since a few days..& here u tempt me more..;) however I duno if I would get that at this price point..:(

    • the Muse

aw sorry don’t mean to tempt ;-D There are lots of lovely items coming out for Spring so maybe wait a bit before deciding fully ;D

  • LINDARRAGNAR

i love it, but I have this part time job, I was told I would be a part time (non seasonal worker) and I have worked two full days in the past month!!!!!!!!!! ;'(

Thankfully I won a holiday card contest from my community college and won $300 dollars, so I could buy some gifts for myself, friends and family (and save a bit!)

  • Sara

This is so pretty I just have to have it. Even if I don’t use highlighters all that much these days.

  • blueraccoon

I bought it on impulse. I don’t know why, but it hopped into my Nordstrom’s cart and now it’s on its way to me. I’m really pleased that it performs so well, though.

  • Melissa

I’m swooning. I already have the new quad and have been wearing it quite a bit. I always love highlighting items and then I never use them after the initial fun wears off. But this is Chanel and I love chanel more then any other luxury brand.. I might resist this because of the price tag or I might cave after xmas.. thanks for the review!

  • cat

It’s a little too expensive for me considering the fact that highlighters rank pretty low on my beauty routine. I’ve got to have a lot of spare time to even consider putting on highlighter. That and for me the major appeal of this product would be the design stamped into it and as soon as you start using the product, that design slowly gets erased.

  • telle

mUse how would oyu say this compares to TooFaced Candlelight highlighter? I am very much reminded of this highlighter when seeing the Chanel swatches…! 🙂

    • the Muse

the two aren’t anything alike telle, quite different, candlelight is a white gold and this is a rose beige.

You get what you pay for – I’d much rather have this, one quad, and some mascara than a butload of drug store powders, simply because the drug store products don’t really offer the quality and the range that darker skinned women need. I have yet to find anything that comes close to what Chanel, Guerlian, NARS, or YSL do for my skin ~over the counter~. I’ll probably pick this one up – as it’s got a pink undertone it won’t be ashy on my skin.

  • Emily

Gorgeous. I’m a sucker for all that shimmers. I’m loving this pearlescent hue!!!! <3 Emily

  • Wtmontana

    I AM LOVING THIS!

The Or Rose and Beryl waterproof eye liner are also on my wishlist. Birthday soon hehe!

  • Dominique

I have it ( birthday present : highlighter + JC in Frivole + RA in l’Eclatante ! ), it’s simply gorgeous. It’s better than ” Lumière d’artifices ” and the packaging is so classy. It’s the first time I have seen a sponge with Chanel products, nice too.
