CoverGirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm Spring 2013

A reader mentioned that Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm Pencils launched at Soap.com for Spring 2013. And indeed she’s right.

These are jumbo gloss pencils much like you’ll see from Clinique, Revlon, etc…

Take a look!

There are 16 shades available and they are labeled as the “Queen Collection”. Considering Queen Latifah is one of Covergirl’s models at the moment I imagine that’s a reference.

Covergirl markets them as sheer color with natural color that’s infused with shea and mango butter. If you felt like Revlon’s version was a little dry perhaps Covergirl’s version will be more moisturizing.

Update: P.S. This particular collection seems to be darker skin tones but Soap.com also has another range of 15 colors for fair to medium skin types as well which can be found here.

These are available now at www.soap.com

Maybe the Queen collection ones will be darker than the regular collection ones. I tried Rose Twist because the cap looked like a great warm berry color. The product itself was light mauve. What a disappointment! It reminded me a lot of the Clinique ones as far as moisturizing and no real scent/taste.

    • the Muse

yeah, for darker skin tones looks like but some shades might POP on lighter skin ;-D aw..how’s pigment?

      • AmberM

The pigment was closer to Revlon than how sheer the Clinique ones are. The product was great in every way except it didn’t look a thing like the cap color.

I can’t buy anything with an opaque lid for that reason. The swatch displays are hardly ever correct, and the packaging is always off. 🙁

I’m very light (paler than NC15), but I love dark lip colors. I’ve been disappointed with CG in the past, and I’ve personally been boycotting CG since P&G banished my beloved Max Factor, but these do look mighty tempting…

I thought that I was doing something wrong on the CG front, their eyeshadows never show up on me. after trying those, kinda hesitant to try anything from them.

I used to ignore them as well (except for lashblast which is my HG) but I was suggested to try their Simply Ageless concealer by a YT friend and it’s fantastic. All I ever use anymore. I also like the Tone Rehab foundation, the CG/olay powder, and the Simply ageless cream blushes.. they have become HG for me, I never wear any of my other ones, creme or powder. I do completely agree about the eyeshadows though, I only have two trios and a single that I like out of all the ones I’ve tried. I have heard some of the new reformulated ones are good but even those are hit and miss so I’ve been scared to try.

is that the olay one? with the swirls? I didn’t do well with it 🙁 to dense le sigh! and Tone Rehab was too greasy for me, really wanted to love it too 🙁

Their mascara is awful, all the lip products I’ve tried smell icky, and I hadn’t touched their other products in years because I use to have allergic reactions. You’re not missing much!

These are available in Canada currently and I did pick up one to test. It was a bit more pigmented than Clinique’s Chubby Sticks but less than Revlon’s. The texture isn’t as buttery smooth as Clinique’s but close. I think it’s pretty good compared to the other chubby stick lip balm hybrids out on the market.

CG’s Queen Collection has been around for a while – for us darker skinned girls the products are lovely 😀 Much more pigmented then the regular stuff – I love, love, love the Queen Collection Vivid Impact Eye Liner in Cabernet…soooo gorgeous! The only problem is that they can be a bit hard to find since CG tends to only sell QC products at the drugstores in areas with more “minorities”. But, as long as a I can find them, I definitely want to try out these balms!

    • the Muse

i’ve seen the eyeliners/shadows gabby but this is the first time I saw the gloss balm ;-D

  • Karen M

I definitely want to try some of the darker shades. I was going to haul some of the new Chubby Sticks but the price is stopping me. I can’t seem to justify in my head paying $16 for one stick.

They look like they do- see the separation between the color and the tube?
That doesn’t usually happen with ones you need to sharpen, they are even with the outside. The casings also looks like plastic. These appear to have casings, so hopefully that = twist-up!
Also, I know the Queen collection is marketed towards darker-skinned gals, as is Black Radiance but they are some of the most pigmented colors in the drugstore and have some of the deeper lip colors which is awesome.
I think Milani was originally supposed to be for women of color but expanded things as time went on and they saw who their buyer’s market was.

  • KhaliaNicole

I’ll take every single one of the Queen Collection colors please, thank you very much! 🙂

  • alyson

Hey muse do you know if these are actually glosssy and how is the color payoff

  • Irene

These are already on sale..I got mine at Walgreens today! So I don’t think the “Spring 2013” release date is right.

    • the Muse

actually they are a new product for Spring 2013 Irene, drugstores got them super early but they are def part of CG’s Spring Collection.
