Lancome Bordeaux L’Absolu Rouge Holiday 2012 Review & Swatches

Lancome L’Absolut Rouge in Bordeaux premieres in the Lancome Holiday 2012 Makeup Collection. Just when I thought I wasn’t going to find my perfect shade of Holiday red lipstick Lancome gifts it to me in this stunning shade!

Everyone always says that red is easy enough to wear so long as you find the RIGHT shade of it to wear. For years I thought that very untrue. I was terrified of the shade and felt all kinds of clown-y in all the true shades of red I tried. I avoided the color for many, many years but happily embraced it when I discovered that warm shades of red are rather flattering on me.

Bordeaux is one of those easy shades of red that I can embrace. It’s that festive shade of red that puts me in a Holiday mood and completes all my looks for the season.

You NEED it if you love warm shades of red.

This is shimmering burgundy red that’s a tad on the vampy side. I’ve heard some folks whisper that it has a bit of a golden sheen to it and if you look hard enough you can definitely see some of that in the tube however, it doesn’t translate to lips. The color can be sheered out with a little gloss or applied with a deep, rich color pay off in a single swipe. Pigmentation is excellent here and the tube shade translates beautifully to lips. Although bold the color is understated when it comes to shades of red and that should translate well on most skin types be they fair or dark. The color seems to be fairly universally flattering.

I find the formula of L’Absolu Rouge very creamy, non-drying, and fairly long lasting. I’m not one for using a lip liner but you might want to apply one prior to application or use a clear one to avoid the color migrating as it does like to creep around my lip line. It does have a rather strong perfumed fragrance and taste. I didn’t find it unpleasant but those sensitive to scented and flavored lipsticks might want to take a casual sniff test on counter prior to indulging.

This is actually the first time I’ve tried Lancome’s L’Absolu Rouge and I know I’ll be going back for more colors as I was quite impressed with the formula overall. The shade Bordeaux was just the cherry on top of an already great lipstick experience. I absolutely love reds for the Holidays and this is quickly becoming a favorite.

Do check it out!

I’m positive you’ll love it as much as I do.

Last time I was looking Lancôme didn’t really have a red I loved. I too go for warmer reds because most reds turn pink on me. This looks like a color that could put a dent in my wallet 😘💄😜💋

Muse, you look gorgeous! I tend to judge how flattering a lip color is by how it makes eyes look, and yours look like pools of chocolate with this lippie – beautiful!

That shade is fab on you Muse! I too love “warm reds” but not sure they work for me as I have a lot of natural pink coloring 🙁 This formula is awesome though.

This reminds me of Revlon’s spiced brandy. (a superlustrious shade) I totally adore that lippie. You look incredible in this color btw.
